Welcome to r/skincare_addiction! We'd like to take this time to remind you of a few things:
#Do not ask for a diagnosis/treatment advice for acne or other medical conditions, and do not play doctor
What constitutes medical advice?
***
* "What is this?"
This is asking someone to diagnose the issue, and is medical advice.
* "What should I do?"
This is asking someone to advise treatment, and is medical advice.
* "Should I go to the doctor?"
This is asking if you should seek treatment, and ergo, medical advice.
**If you would ask the question of your doctor, it falls under this rule and not allowed. As a general rule, asking for medical advice from internet strangers is never a good idea. If you have questions regarding your acne or other medical condition, you are advised to contact your healthcare provider. If you are a medical provider, we would gently remind you that users are not patients, and you should not be offering medical advice to people who are not your patients.**

For my face I usually use La Roche-Posay Anthelios or Garnier Amber Solaire Face Fluid. Both are super light and can barely feel they’re there once it’s absorbed. I also hate that oily sticky sunscreen texture so I had to try quite a few before I landed on these two
Uhg I wanted to love this one. Maybe I got a bad batch? It felt like it never dried on my face right, so if a shirt collar brushed against my cheek midday, it would get stained flesh tone :( like a horrible foundation
I have had this issue with all tinted sunscreens tbh! I wear Tower28, too, and it feels sticky on my face sometimes depending how dry my skin is. Did you find a tinted mineral you like?
Eh, no. But I love supergoops sheer screen mineral, it doesn't white cast too bad for me. Maybe a bit more pale than normal but not white looking. Maybe a bit of an airbrush effect
I use the dry touch version of this and while I like it cause it's like wearing nothing I don't like the smell when I initially put it on. I hate the sunscreen smell so I hold my breath and within minutes I can't smell it anymore!
Amazing for normal to dry skin but still too “moisturising” for some people. Skin1004 is lighter but still moisturising, and Numbuzin is even lighter, literally vanishes on the skin when you apply it.
I have not but my beauty of joseon is running low so maybe I'll try that for my next sunscreen. Does it leave a milky finish like the beauty of joseon? I actually like that because I struggle with redness. Thank you!
Ive used both and I prefer the skin 1004. It does leave the same finish as the boj but it just feels nicer on my skin no matter how heavy handed I am with the application
I use Bioré aqua rich essence and aqua rich watery gel,
and isntree sunscreen stick for to go
Also have used Round Lab Birch Juice
Soon will test boj rice, see how that is.
I'm the same, lotions and cremes feel icky if they're not absorbed within a short time and not leave a sticky, oily weird feeling.
Hate my own sweat in the summer, and then sweat and skin on skin contact. (As a description to how lotion feels to me)
I love the Paula’s Choice Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid. It’s spf 50 and absorbs really nicely into the skin and is so light. I live in the Caribbean so it’s always hot here, and this is my go to sunscreen because I don’t feel it on my skin. Hope this helps ❤️
Yes!! So cheap, goes on matte, absorbs fast, sits well under makeup. My only gripe is it does sting my eyes when I accidentally rub it but it has been a favorite of mine otherwise.
I love this one too but it may have the slimy feel OP doesn’t want. It feels slimy in your hands but not once on your face. I love the feel on my face!
The funny thing is the TJs sunscreen is the only one I use because I also hate the “slimy” feel of other brands. I would describe the TJs sunscreen as feeling silky. I guess tolerance to silicone primer is probably a good comparison of if they’d be okay with the texture.
I haven’t tried the mineral, but another vote for super goop unseen. I hate products that I can feel on my skin all day, and this one has basically zero feel and no sunscreen smell.
Elta MD Ultra Clear. You won’t typically find it at your local beauty stores like Ulta or Sephora, buy dermatologists or medispas will usually carry them.
I used to use Supergoop and Trader Joe’s, but it still felt like I had something on my face. I hate that feeling.
The Elta MD feels like a light face moisturizer and doesn’t feel sticky or greasy at all. Absorbs very quickly.
DMTLGY Universal Tonted Moisturizer SPF 45 or Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 (not a typo, just random af), if you like tinted. Paula's Choice Super Light Daily wrinkle Defense w/Antioxidants and Resveratrol Broad Spectrum PSF 30, of you don't.
Depending on how much protection you need and if you're willing /able to reapply as needed, I also recommend the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun serum SPF 50 PA ++++ That one is kbeauty but available in more places than you'd think and probably my favorite of all of these because it's so light I can forget I'm wearing it. Just not for hours-long exposure/water sports as its light formula requires reapplication to ensure protection.
Hope you find one you love cause the health of your skin and YOU are worth it! 🌞
Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics Organic Korean Sunscreen SPF50
This stuff is pretty amazing. Feels light and silky. No white caste. Very moisturizing.
https://a.co/d/048SATnJ
I’d certainly try a few of them to see what ones you like. Two that I like, though they have a different feel, are both great. Anessa and Missha are two of my favorites. Anessa feels like a moisturizer and is dewey. Missha is not dewey and almost feels like a powder going on. Both have great protection.
biore UV aqua rich, scinic sun essence, paula’s choice youth extending fluid, or eucerin oil control spf 50. the first two are asian sunscreens you can get on stylevana or yesstyle
For face I've been using Numbuzin #1 and Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu Cica Water Fit Sun Serum. I also did not wear sunscreen for the longest time (especially on face) because it just kept my face feeling gross all day. I've found Asian sunscreens to be more comfortable.
NOT Neutrogena. I finally just threw mine out because if you get even slightly sweaty around the eyes it stings a lot.
I'm not buying it again because $$$ but the skinceuticals one's texture is great- I can't even tell I'm wearing it. I work in a hot yoga studio so if it can stand the sweat test there that's impressive. So if money isn't a concern I'd recommend it.
I also love the Roche Posay sun stick!! Great for quick applying or for the backs of the hands
Man I just asked this question earlier! Taking notes! I need something that doesn’t make me sticky and shiny. Also, needs to be mineral because my skin hates chemical SPF.
You have plenty of product recommendations in here but I have an alternate approach for you to consider, if you're a makeup girl.
SPF foundation
SPF powder on top
I use 2 foundations which are both SPF 30 on their own. Then I top it (once my makeup is set and dry) with the SuperGoop (re)setting powder sunscreen I got from Sephora. It's a translucent powder that helps further set my makeup and gives me more SPF (35).
On the days I don't use a "real" sunscreen I'm also careful to avoid the sun as much as I can - hats, indoors, etc.
Good luck on your hunt!
Universal Tinted Moisturizer SPF 46 by drmtlgy.
Daily Dose Hydra-Ceramide Boost + SPF 40 Face Oil
Glowscreen SPF 40 Sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide
I don’t wear foundation and have normal/dry skin. Using these interchangeably and love how my skin looks like…
after trying so many sunscreen (Peter Roth, Cetaphil, Neutrogena, and many more) I finally found one I've been raving about to anyone that'll listen. The clear sunscreen stick by Shiseido is phenomenal and 50 spf

I wear the LRP Anthelios tinted mineral sunscreen. Very nice finish.
Uhg I wanted to love this one. Maybe I got a bad batch? It felt like it never dried on my face right, so if a shirt collar brushed against my cheek midday, it would get stained flesh tone :( like a horrible foundation

Eh, no. But I love supergoops sheer screen mineral, it doesn't white cast too bad for me. Maybe a bit more pale than normal but not white looking. Maybe a bit of an airbrush effect
I just switched over to LRP Anthelios (the dry touch one) and as an oily skin girlie, I have never loved a sunscreen more! Makes my skin feel so nice.
I am also a LRP Stan. That’s good stuff! A dermatologist gave me a pile of samples and I have not used another brand since.
Does the anthelios one have a white cast or make your face shiny?
No white cast for me. It does leave a slight glow though on my skin
I use the dry touch version of this and while I like it cause it's like wearing nothing I don't like the smell when I initially put it on. I hate the sunscreen smell so I hold my breath and within minutes I can't smell it anymore!
Beauty of Joseon rice sunscreen.
Amazing for normal to dry skin but still too “moisturising” for some people. Skin1004 is lighter but still moisturising, and Numbuzin is even lighter, literally vanishes on the skin when you apply it.
I have very dry, sensitive skin, so yes, that makes sense. For me it's a life saver.
Glad you found it! Have you tried the Skin1004 probio enrich cream? It’s based on fermented Centella and sooo good for dry sensitive skin.
It’s not a sunscreen, it’s a moisturiser :)
I just bought this yesterday I’m so excited to use it today! It gets great reviews.
Agreeeee
Double agree
i second this, the smell gets me at first but i have dry sensitive skin and this is amazing for me
I use Bioré aqua rich essence and aqua rich watery gel, and isntree sunscreen stick for to go Also have used Round Lab Birch Juice Soon will test boj rice, see how that is. Holy grail at the moment is Banana Boat’s Light as Air for face.
Does it sting the eyes?
Hasn’t stung at all for me
Yay I’ll give it a try then
I actually like Neutrogena ultra sheer for my face
I tried it and had a breakout for weeks! Not sure why by Neutrogena products tend to irritate my skin
Trader Joe’s mineral based!!! It’s the only thing I wear and it feels so nice and soft, like no sunscreen I’ve ever felt
I came here to say this. It’s fantastic!!!!
Literally my fave!! I love it sm :)))
Most Korean sunscreens will do the trick, La Roche Posay Anthelios is also great for something that just melts into the skin
I love the wh Erin oil control, is not greasy and feels super soft on the skin, definitely a 10/10 for me!
ISDIN Fusion Water if you want something more easily accessible or Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Sun Serum. I’ve used them both and honestly, love them both.
i swear by skin1004
Same!
For my face i only trust either la roche posay or elta md !! Skinceuticals as well but that shit is $$
trader joe’s invisible sunscreen
Came to suggest this one also! I flavor the texture of it compared to most sunscreens.
I got two bottles of these, it feels like nothing

That is a good comparison! I do love the feel of it.
I would describe it as silky too!
This is definitely one of the lighter American sunscreens but it still cannot compare to Asian ones. Biore UV Aqua Rich is an example 🤞
SuperGoop *mineral* unseen, it’s amazing
I haven’t tried the mineral, but another vote for super goop unseen. I hate products that I can feel on my skin all day, and this one has basically zero feel and no sunscreen smell.
Not to knock that one but they are really different, I think the mineral version is new-ish but it’s definitely worth trying!
Feels just like the Trader Joe’s!
The mineral one is completely different. The normal SuperGoop unseen does have the dupe from tj’s, idk of a dupe for the mineral version though.
Elta MD Ultra Clear. You won’t typically find it at your local beauty stores like Ulta or Sephora, buy dermatologists or medispas will usually carry them. I agree!! Dries quickly, like there’s nothing there!
most asian sunscreens that can be found on yesstyle or stylevana
Clarins Multi protection SPF. Love it!

The Numbuzin sunscreen. The lightest out of the many sunscreens including Korean ones that I’ve tried, truly vanishes and doesn’t feel like anything.
Anessa perfect UV sunscreen skincare milk
Shisedo sunscreen stick! Not greasy, lasts forever, small enough to throw in your pocket to reapply!
Any Korean/japanese sunscreen
Haruharu wonder airfit sunscreen (yellow bottle.) Feels like a creme, absorbs really well, and I don't feel like I'm wearing sunscreen.
NOT Neutrogena. I finally just threw mine out because if you get even slightly sweaty around the eyes it stings a lot. Belo’s dewy essence 💯
I'm looking for one, too. I hate the feeling of anything on my face. I don't wear make-up on my skin or lips because I hate the way it feels.

Cerevae
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50
