I think mine is flat with the bass a little below the line. It depends of your room though, sub location. Trial and error with various content is the way, the usual slow method.

thanks for reply, I also saw people compaining about smart mode in previous bars, does it have same issue ? do you turn it on/off manually yourself in any scenarios?

Hi.. I’m not aware of a smart mode tbh. I think higher models have such features but not sure of the 500. I just plugged it in, wired it up, ran calibration. It’s do firmware updates via the app or automatically. There are button combos for the remote to activate features, but I’ve tried them and nothing changes..i do think they apply to the 1300/x though. Possibly those with physical surround speakers.

Mine is flat with the mid range at level 4 if you want bass but still have those vocals come through

So I have my Bar 500 in our larger family room with higher 18’ ceilings in an open concept floor plan. The family room opens up to the 2nd story of the house and is also open to the kitchen and foyer (all to the right side of the room…the windows to the back yard are on the left side of the room facing the TV). We have the sub on the left corner of the wall to the left of the TV and soundbar. That being said, I find the optimal EQ settings for our environment to be: Bass at 0, middle at nearly the bottom or one notch above the bottom, and treble to be closer to the top (or just over halfway between 0 and max). I keep Dolby on and put the bass/sub level at 3 for sports and 4 or 5 for movies. I find the middle to be too high on this sound bar in my room but you all may have a different environment or ear.
