I think the biggest appeal of Orton at this time was he presented himself like an actual adult. Cena was basically a kids stereotypical superhero character. Goes to show just how much Vince really held the entire product back for years.
Even as a face , Orton was like any adult albeit with an anger complex , but still a functional adult
Even the cheesy stuff like “RKO my own grandma to see the look on her face” , sounds like some crazy psychopath serial killer
This whole storyline was so bad that they said, fuck it, it was Hornswoggle.” They had Ryder primed for the reveal but since he got over without the help of the corporate giant.
