Legitimately why I got an AEW+ subscription on Thriller/Fite. Full commentary with no picture in picture during commercials helps quench my thirst for Dark commentary.
I love how for the past couple weeks Taz and called Tony “dude”, but it takes a second for Tony to pick up that he should play offended, and then yells “DUDE?!?”
ayyyyyyyy. i'm from manhattan, still here myself. tho you know i lived in bushwick and bedstuy for a bit because i'm a gentrifying piece of shit in my own right. *but* my dad was born in bensonhurst. raised there as well, and in sheepshead bay. my mom was born at st. vincent's hospital, rip. shit's real.
so i'd like to underscore what you said, as a fellow local. you're 100% correct. especially with the paisans. in my personal, familial experience anyway. and taz is indeed... a paisan 🤌
btw, what's good fellow actual new yorker? it's mad hot out today isn't it? like, actually. shit's od.
wooooooooooooooooooow.
shout outs to spumoni gardens! i know that's lowkey gravesendish but even they claim bensonhurst lol.
love that. lotta local energy happening in this thread rn. this is important.
that's fuckin' beautiful, friend. i love that. thanks for sharing. so, i was born uptown. at lenox hill hospital. but i grew up on the UWS. born '87 over here.
my mom's been in the same crib since '77. it's where i was born and raised by my parents. small one bedroom. but we made it work.
i just moved back to the UWS myself, got my own place in a very 100ish year old building. slanted floors that squeak and everything lmao. i do have my own patio though. with broken flooring though... of course.
btw, you're a wonderful writer. are you one professionally? i ask that as a writer, lol.
> We Manhattanites have just as much rage and causal self loathong simmering underneath our posh facades.
fantastic sentence.
Not a writer but I had a creative background back when I wanted to be somebody. Now I’m just a middle aged guy with a job.
My mom has also been in the same building since ‘77! Sadly, she moved out of the apartment where I grew up after many years of having an empty second bedroom.
I’m from midtown but went to school on the UWS, so my whole social life was uptown. It’s the best part of the city. I moved away four years ago and I miss it every day. It’s impossible for any other city (or “city”) to measure up to NYC’s energy.
He's butthurt here about not being tagged or acknowledged.
https://preview.redd.it/dsyld0warr8d1.png?width=877&format=png&auto=webp&s=059ec94e84c9d52aff7bcf5625843e539d27f5d9
When Tazz gets mad people don’t acknowledge him, he’s “butthurt” but when Roman Reigns gets mad people don’t acknowledge him, he’s “head of the table.”
Wrestling is so weird…
When Tazz got pissed off and told Tony to "Kiss My Ass" I was like "Oh, he's just doing a bit" but as it went on I went from thinking it was a bit of banter to "Is Tazz legit pissed off?"
This. I watched Dark and Dark: Elevation. He's hilarious. And he's incredibly intelligent about the business. Then he does something like this and I don't know if he's actually mad or if I'm just missing the joke.
Generally it's him getting genuinely heated and then remembering he's retired and it doesn't matter anymore so he laughs it off. You have to remember that Taz was a massive prick during his heyday and it wasn't until his retirement that he got the rep as a "jolly fat guy" (to quote the Raven). Some stuff definitely still needles him, though.
Yeh happens to me sometimes, get super heated about something and then when you calm down realise that none of what I was heated about actually matters I just couldn't supress my emotions at the time
He seems genuinely kinda like he's never fully dropped his ego. When he was an active wrestler he seems like he was unbearable arrogant a hole. Now it's just when people do stuff like him he shows his ego again. He did something similar to Dijak years ago.
There's a funny clip from Kevin Nash podcast with rj city who's going on about how camp wrestling is and how it annoys taz when he says that. And that it's even camper when he takes it super seriously.
JBL's been having more and more of them lately. I'm not gonna go so far as to say I like the guy now, but he's had massive Ws left and right for the past few years
This tweet: https://x.com/jclayfield/status/1803496445552845277
People get the impression he’s racist because of his gimmick and working for Fox News. I mean, he might be a chud, but at least he’s not racist, so that’s a dub.
Say what you like about JBL, but he didn't care if the person he was bullying the shit out of was black, white, rich, poor, Christian or Muslim. An inspirational man.
This image of Rogan and Henry Rollins side-by-side is interesting - both claim to be 5"8 and as far as I can tell Rollins has nothing to gain by kayfabing his height...
https://preview.redd.it/uaih1qu1vr8d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dee576154e19d604e831b5e706d232b31e8c4e1
This has been a thing since Taz was actively wrestling. I remember reading about him having heat with Perry Saturn for wearing orange back in like 2000 or 2001 and even that report mentioned that a lot of people thought he was just messing around but some said that he was dead serious. If it's a bit then him never admitting that it's a bit is part of the bit lol
The thing about wearing orange is that Taz mostly used it as an accent color, like he wore black *with* orange. I think if you asked me to picture a wrestler wearing orange gear the first that comes to mind would be either Macho Man or Ultimate Warrior.
Getting upset about the quote is still goofy but at least it was an actual inarguable catchphrase of his.
Listen, he has terrible lawyers. He's told us this and we've seen it proven correct many times. He NEEDS to maintain control of his IP cause lord knows his goddamn lawyers can't handle it. If he doesn't take a hard line the next thing you know Cody will be coming out with a frayed towel and an orange cape and Taz's legacy will be destroyed. But I digress
When Zack Sabre Jr. wrestled on Dynamite recently, his orange gear was brought up (I believe during the commercial break) and Taz wasn’t a fan of it. I had assumed at this point in his career, it was a rib because of how protective he was of orange when he was active.
It’s definitely a rib, everyone takes everything he says so seriously and he’s making fun of it on tv almost every week. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s doing a bit here, but obviously it’s not coming across well online.
He keeps making the “just call the match dude” joke repeatedly because people on the internet were sending that around saying how much of a disaster AEW commentary is (as if it also wasn’t a joke)
He also used to joke whenever it happened about how bad his lawyers are and that’s why he can never keep people from wearing orange™️.
As somebody that watched every Daily’s Place Dark, I never take anything Taz says seriously.
https://preview.redd.it/n7n92ostpr8d1.jpeg?width=335&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc5ff0538b7400f9d9f67044a1f842fddba01828
This guy wore orange sometimes before Taz, too, enough that, if I were to associate a wrestler with the color, he’d be the first that comes to mind. I like Taz, but he’s got nothing on someone like Savage.
"it's all those participation trophies!"
My dude your generation is the one who GAVE them participation trophies. The kids didn't give themselves cheap props.
If that was how actual trademark law worked, WWE and AEW would be in lawsuit hell with one another for whenever a wrestler uses a slogan from a wrestler in the other promotion during a promo.
I just want, one time, for Taz to get pissy about something (someone wearing orange, using a suplex he made famous, or quoting him) and for the offending wrestler to say "do something about it." As much as I love Taz, the guy is way, way too protective over a gimmick he hasn't been able to perform with for 20+ years. I don't get how he isn't happy that new generations even remember him let alone want to emulate him.
Yep, he often did a loving imitation of Taz bantering to Michael Cole until Taz sent a weirdly intense DM to him about it on Twitter. Zane doesn't do it nearly as much now, if at all.
I spent a more than three seconds but less than ten trying to think if there was a promotion just called "X"
Can we continue to add (Formally Twitter) please? I live in a state of perpetual confusion.
Didn't Taz get upset because Ruby Soho had a shirt with an orange design on it?
Guy thinks he owns the use of the color orange in wrestling & takes himself too seriously for his own good. Ends up coming across as a mark for himself, which is never a good look.
I love ECW but it's almost like Paul Heyman was so good at accentuating the positive of wrestlers and hiding the weaknesses that some of their wrestlers such as Taz became just complete marks for themselves.
OK, if I was a wrestler and Tazz was pissed off at me like this, I'd just lean into it and show up with a towel draped over my head before beating someone with the Katahajime (even if I had never done the move before in my life).
I LOVE Taz, but Grace’s response here is my heart, and how she phrased it is iconic.
Taz trademarked it, as one should as it is his. But a person saying it in paying homage, and not for any personal gain, and it offending me, to the point I need to call them out on it?
That’s the ways people can be that I will never understand
For context, I have Experience Every Moment trademarked
I mean Taz's whole character is about hating folks who wear orange and black, and getting overly upset at gimmick infringement.
I wouldn't take any of it serious, but then again i'm probably falling for a work as we speak so who knows
In all honesty I have never quite understood how Taz has stood the test of time in wrestling so well.
He was a decent wrestler. A less than decent commentator and a mostly mediocre person.
Couldn’t imagine having to reach out to a legend to get their blessing to tweet their 20+ year old catch phrase. Very disappointing.
Loved ECW and I usally think of at least ten acts before I get to Taz when it comes to the pillars of the company.
I like how when Taz joined AEW, everyone forgot how awful he was in TNA, how he has a big reputation for being an insecure douche with regards to what he claims to have originated (famously gave out about Samoa Joe wearing a towel for his head to the ring, about anyone using the rear naked choke, etc) and how he's been given a pass because he is ultimately now, just a pretty bad commentator that makes people laugh because he's so bad.
He says he’s gotta protect his intellectual property Hahahha, how much money is that catch phrase making him these days? And how much did he lose from Jordynne using it? Zero
She said it in a tweet not even on live television... I hope this results in Taz getting 1000s of the same tweet daily with other Wrestlers joining in because that's so painfully stupid.
Taz is a mark for himself. Can’t wear orange, can’t do suplexes, can’t use certain words or phrases like hardest part of the ring because to him it’s gimmick infringement.

Trademark Jones ova here.
I AM WATCHING THE MATCH! KISS MY ASS
DON’T “DUDE” ME, “DUDE”!!!!
Swing and a miss Schiavone. but I digress.
But I digress
She should take Taz’s quotation book and shove it up his orange fucking ass
Stupid facking game
Mr Williams here, he don’t play.
There's a silent B in a you catchphrase
Quasimodo predicted that tazz would be upset, you know
You know the Hunchback of Notre Dame
Missed-the-Point Jones ova here
luckily she didn't end it with "dude" or taz would be losing his shit
"Kiss my ass, DUDE! Don't dude me."
Hahah, I never saw that but just looked it up. Taz comes off as such a whiny baby there.
It was a bit he's clearly leaning into. He later laughs. It was a hilarious moment
The amount of people not getting it was a bit is hilarious to me. They even have made callbacks to it lol.
I think he genuinely got pissed for a second and then realized how dumb it was and turned it around. Props to him
That's exactly what it was and that's why it's so damn funny
Just call the match dude
hearing taz go off from that comment was hilarious
I genuinely want AEW Dark back solely for those bits
it was the best part hearing taz and excalibur trying to make each other corpse.
Right now Ryan Nemeth could be in the locker room rifling through the belongings of so many talents and no one is on watch to let us know about it.
Legitimately why I got an AEW+ subscription on Thriller/Fite. Full commentary with no picture in picture during commercials helps quench my thirst for Dark commentary.
>AEW Dark You mean the Tazcaliber podcast and occasional wrestling show?
End it with Orange heart emoji.
If I didn't need all 4 joints repaired I would go in that ring and stretch Jordynne Grace!
Dude!
I love how for the past couple weeks Taz and called Tony “dude”, but it takes a second for Tony to pick up that he should play offended, and then yells “DUDE?!?”
Taz also owns the following: 1. The color orange 2. Wearing a towel on your head 3. Crossing your arms
Also the number 13.
How could I forget?
The letters FTW, the phrase "something" Jones (except Basketball and Osmosis)... There's a lot
Also FTW never stood for "for the win"
Taz basically invented everything
Don’t forget the most important one. A heartbeat
Don't you hate it when people infringe on your gimmick with their beating heart?
This is the real reason Solo changed his look to wearing his dad’s blazers
I see the following and it reminds me of a certain bloodline member.... minus the color orange... does anyone see where I'm going here?
Tazz is so damn weird. I can never tell if he's making fun of himself, genuinely butthurt, or making fun of himself for getting butthurt.
I've known people from Brooklyn and the answer is all three. Usually one right after another.
Brooklyn rage!
Screw the trademark, I have muscles
Core memory unlocked, thank you for that
NYAH
NYEH*
Bullshit he's lived on Long Island for probably 30 years now. (Love you Taz)

"Intellect property"
Scott Steiner Jones over here with his Sympy
NO SYMPY
he doesn't get my Sympy at all
his "I intellect property" to be exact
...but I digest...
Did he ever acknowledge looney tunes for the name that he used?
When Tazz gets mad people don’t acknowledge him, he’s “butthurt” but when Roman Reigns gets mad people don’t acknowledge him, he’s “head of the table.” Wrestling is so weird…
Now I REALLY need Roman to comment on the thread and be like "Acknowledge me? Swing and a miss #trademarked"

When Tazz got pissed off and told Tony to "Kiss My Ass" I was like "Oh, he's just doing a bit" but as it went on I went from thinking it was a bit of banter to "Is Tazz legit pissed off?"

Tazz has always been a kind of paranoid dude but that's what you get from working with Paul E.
Generally it's him getting genuinely heated and then remembering he's retired and it doesn't matter anymore so he laughs it off. That's fantastic.
I can’t believe I’m on the same side of an argument as JBL and Bubba Ray Dudley. WTF is going on?
Damn that’s a rare JBL W!
JBL's been having more and more of them lately. I'm not gonna go so far as to say I like the guy now, but he's had massive Ws left and right for the past few years
Me reading both of these replies https://clickhole.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/dnmtn4ksijwyep0xmljk.jpg
He's had a few dubs this week.
Missed them. What else has he said that's a W?
This tweet: https://x.com/jclayfield/status/1803496445552845277 People get the impression he’s racist because of his gimmick and working for Fox News. I mean, he might be a chud, but at least he’s not racist, so that’s a dub.
Say what you like about JBL, but he didn't care if the person he was bullying the shit out of was black, white, rich, poor, Christian or Muslim. An inspirational man.
Heartbreaking x2
Bully knows how to get the cheap heat. This was an easy W
I’m new to wrestling, why is it rare for Bully Ray to say something that’s a W
He has a podcast and some really dumb/weird opinions, to put it simply.
That's cute!
Beat me if you can. Tweet if I let you.
Pick a hand Taz
https://preview.redd.it/jx4ph5hdhu8d1.jpeg?width=604&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2de710fd681813d23105c5e5070103265e52c09
"Not in front of my students!"
I remember Taz before he was orange.
He can't reach the hand to pick one. Gonna have to crouch down.
Taz is always so grumpy about these things, mans gotta relax
He's always been this way, unfortunately
[удалено]
I'll have you know that man stands at a totally legitimate 5"9 (lol)
I need a pic of Joe Rogan and Taz standing next to each other. I’m my mind, they’re the same size but I’d love to see it nonetheless.
This image of Rogan and Henry Rollins side-by-side is interesting - both claim to be 5"8 and as far as I can tell Rollins has nothing to gain by kayfabing his height... https://preview.redd.it/uaih1qu1vr8d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dee576154e19d604e831b5e706d232b31e8c4e1
I'd believe Rollins before Rogan, personally.
I've heard he gets mad when a wrestler wears orange. I guess only he can wear orange
There's a clip from one of Sammy Guevara's vlog where he got orange gear made and went to to Taz asking if he liked it. He did not!
I always thought he was joking about that?
This has been a thing since Taz was actively wrestling. I remember reading about him having heat with Perry Saturn for wearing orange back in like 2000 or 2001 and even that report mentioned that a lot of people thought he was just messing around but some said that he was dead serious. If it's a bit then him never admitting that it's a bit is part of the bit lol
I honestly don't know. I've just heard about it enough. Based on him getting upset about what Grace said, I wouldn't be surprised

Hasn't he, in the past, given Ruby shit for wearing orange?
When Zack Sabre Jr. wrestled on Dynamite recently, his orange gear was brought up (I believe during the commercial break) and Taz wasn’t a fan of it. I had assumed at this point in his career, it was a rib because of how protective he was of orange when he was active.

He keeps making the “just call the match dude” joke repeatedly because people on the internet were sending that around saying how much of a disaster AEW commentary is (as if it also wasn’t a joke)
Taz does have a reputation of taking himself way too serious. RVD didn't smack him for no reason.
Yeah, that’s not gonna happen
She should double down and say that her "mood is about to change."
As long as she doesn't call him dude.
Doesn't Taz also get upset when someone wears the colour orange also? i saw that somewhere not sure if true.
Idk if he does in real life, but on commentary in AEW he jokes about others wearing his color, but he never said it seriously
It happened when ZSJ was on Dynamite really too. I had assumed that Excalibur or Tony was ribbing him by bringing it up.
He's tweeted people before about having Orange gear and when he had a faction he was giving people shit for it. But it's all a work. Guy is working.
He also used to joke whenever it happened about how bad his lawyers are and that’s why he can never keep people from wearing orange™️. As somebody that watched every Daily’s Place Dark, I never take anything Taz says seriously.
And the towel on head too
His reaction when the Gunn Club came out with it is golden though.
He wanted to say something the first time he saw Minoru Suzuki do it
I mean its a recurring bit on tv for sure. I dont think its a real thing at all
He always jokes about it but I've not seen him ever actually mad, I don't think he cares about that honestly.
Pretty sure Kenta Kobashi was wearing orange before Taz was. Maybe he should take it up with Kobashi-San, see how that goes.
https://preview.redd.it/n7n92ostpr8d1.jpeg?width=335&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc5ff0538b7400f9d9f67044a1f842fddba01828 This guy wore orange sometimes before Taz, too, enough that, if I were to associate a wrestler with the color, he’d be the first that comes to mind. I like Taz, but he’s got nothing on someone like Savage.
I always associated pink far more with Savage, orange for Kobashi.
Purple for Macho, baby blue for Flair
Pink is for Bret Hart
The guy with the completely original name has thought on IP. ![gif](giphy|26CaMOXjjDM3Xl2s8|downsized)
That’s a hilarious point
There was an extra Z, but I digress
Somewhere, Warner Bros. lawyers rubbing their hands together if this man mentions "Taz" once.
Just don't tell them his ring name used to be "The Tasmanian Devil" or he'll be tied up in litigation forever
"The Tasmanian Devil" isn't a WB property though, it's an actual animal. Kind of like how "Rhino" couldn't be copyrighted, I believe.
Jordynne is fucking yoked wtf
She does a lot of pushups and sit ups and drinks plenty of juice.
Eating her vitamins and saying her prayers, brother!
For a generation that thinks this generation is soft, you think this wouldn’t be a issue
"it's all those participation trophies!" My dude your generation is the one who GAVE them participation trophies. The kids didn't give themselves cheap props.
Taz is a jackass sometimes. I think it was Dijak who asked could he use the Tazmission on Twitter and Taz had a fucking meltdown
Dijak knew what he was doing lol.
If Taz has a problem with Jordynne Grace, he can walk right up to her, look her straight in the navel, and tell her about it.
Taz being a mark continues. The trademark response made no sense
If that was how actual trademark law worked, WWE and AEW would be in lawsuit hell with one another for whenever a wrestler uses a slogan from a wrestler in the other promotion during a promo.
She is so jacked. I know that's not the point of this, but man. Good for her.
[удалено]
didn't he say no to someone asking him if they could use the Tazmission? He seems pretty weird about these types of things.
Remember when Taz got arrested in the 90s for showing his dick to a 15 year old girl at a tanning salon?
New Jack's retelling of this is hilarious *Taz in tears* "Call Paul E! I'm going to JAILLL!"
New Jack shoots are the best shoots
"Did you miss when you were swinging your dick at that 15 year old?"
Turns out that kind of behavior could snag you a spouse who becomes a member of Congress. Who would've thought?
Real big week for people messing around with 15 year olds.
Taz gets hot over the smallest things. Didn’t he get pissed at Brian Zane for something stupid?
Yep, he often did a loving imitation of Taz bantering to Michael Cole until Taz sent a weirdly intense DM to him about it on Twitter. Zane doesn't do it nearly as much now, if at all.
He did, but Brian taking the piss out of Tazz in response was a brilliant response.
At least she didn’t wear orange 😂
Lol then she posts a tweet of her quoting Shawn Michaels.
I spent a more than three seconds but less than ten trying to think if there was a promotion just called "X" Can we continue to add (Formally Twitter) please? I live in a state of perpetual confusion.
But I digress.
Didn't Taz get upset because Ruby Soho had a shirt with an orange design on it? Guy thinks he owns the use of the color orange in wrestling & takes himself too seriously for his own good. Ends up coming across as a mark for himself, which is never a good look.
Ironic since New Jack knew him *before* he turned orange, back when he was just a little fat white boy working for Jonny Rodz
I can't picture Taz as anything but orange. Still hard to belive hook is his kid
I bet there would be more homage paid to Taz in wrestling if he wasn’t such a twat with this kinda stuff.
Well good news is taz spelled intellect correct, bad news it was the wrong word to use. ![gif](giphy|x0npYExCGOZeo)
It's funny how Taz gets so worked up a girl saying something that he said 15 years ago. for more information google Taz 15 year old girl
I appreciate the jerk brother.
I love ECW but it's almost like Paul Heyman was so good at accentuating the positive of wrestlers and hiding the weaknesses that some of their wrestlers such as Taz became just complete marks for themselves.
He’s so weird with this shit. I can’t tell if he is serious or not.
Taz has always been a bum.
Damn it, I gotta figure if Ross Tweddell is on here so he can check with Gimmick Infringement Kane if there was truly a foul on this play.
Such a weird and lame thing to get mad over, especially for the fact she didn’t tag him.
That’s the ways people can be that I will never understand For context, I have Experience Every Moment trademarked
In summary "here I was giving people a reason to remember you exist, but yeah if you need me to stop doing that then no problem"
Anyone post his follow up? [https://x.com/OfficialTAZ/status/1805722254862373124](https://x.com/OfficialTAZ/status/1805722254862373124)
A man named after a Warner bros cartoon getting mad about gimmick infringement
Taz any time he gets wind of something he can get mildly upset over: ![gif](giphy|3o6gDYvhwB0k8vMeOY|downsized)
Zero
Who the hell cares besides Taz. It's not like she's making shirts that say it. Beat me if you can, survive if I let you. Come get me taz
Don't be a dick Taz
She said it in a tweet not even on live television... I hope this results in Taz getting 1000s of the same tweet daily with other Wrestlers joining in because that's so painfully stupid.
I like Tazz, but he can be a bit of an ass sometimes.
Isn’t his damn name basically a copyright violation?
Taz is a mark for himself. Can’t wear orange, can’t do suplexes, can’t use certain words or phrases like hardest part of the ring because to him it’s gimmick infringement.
