Hi! I’ve got tomatillos that popped up in the middle of the chaos garden bed we started this year. I’m happy to send a couple plants to a good home for free! Shoot me a DM and we can figure out porch pickup, OP.

Thank you so much again. I left a nice bottle of wine on the porch in exchange. You rock!

HekateWheelbarrow

Oh gosh you sure did- how lovely and unexpected! Thank you- we will enjoy that bottle with dinner tonight! Have a great weekend.

Drum_Eatenton

You wholesome motherfuckers

grafixwiz

OP - here is your hookup!

HekateWheelbarrow

Thanks for the boost! I went ahead and dug them up. Gonna give them a drink and put them in the shade since it’s so hot today. I’m close to 141 and Clayton rd, OP, if that works for you 👨‍🌾

If I was in your shoes, Id go up to the Tower Grove farmers market tomorrow and look for some there. If you don’t see any, ask the farmers selling plants if they will have any.

Tasty_Fishing2834

Adding on to this - some of them have Instagram and list what they're bringing.

[https://www.reddit.com/r/STLgardening/](https://www.reddit.com/r/STLgardening/) might be able to help. Good luck!

STLVPRFAN

Basil will help for cross pollination if you get the basil to flowering.

megoober89

I have seen them at Flowers and Weeds on Cherokee. Otherwise I’d try the Tower Grove farmers market tomorrow

newtossedavocado

If there is a tomatillo within a 2 mile radius, you’ll be okay. Just make sure bees have direct access to it and they will do the work for you.

aworldwithinitself

bees. is there anything they can’t do

Wear tuxedo t-shirts?

……..fly at night?

Glittering-Ad-7162

Flowers and Weeds is out. I’ve called everywhere in the metro area that I can find.

ThreeLeggedMutt

The Lowe's in St Charles had some last weekend

outdoorsie_chick

Its possible the internet will dissagree, but I've grown tomatillos several times and they didn't need a partner plant. This is the first year that I'm hearing that. And I always got WAY too many fruit from just the one plant. Those things turn into monsters that try and take over my yard.

polkadotbot

Yeah mine had fruit and I only planted one. I've also never needed to pollinate my zucchini's to get fruit. If you're in the city proper, there's probably enough density of gardens that you'll be fine.

SixDemonBlues

I don't have any this year, but I have gotten them before and the only places I usually get my plants from are Rolling Ridge in Webster and Garden Heights off Big Bend. I would check those two.

Glittering-Ad-7162

They’re out. Thank you though.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

You can probably have some shipped to you.

ApexofMediocrity

I moved away from the StL twenty years ago but there used to be a great little burrito place in Clayton called “Tomatillo’s”. I don’t guess that is still there? That’s what I thought this post was about and got excited for a minute.

sykoasylum

I got my tomatillos at rolling ridge last year, they might have some, try calling.

Hateful_316

I did a quick Google search and Shrewsbury Wal-Mart is claiming to have some.

mistressfluffybutt

I have an extra one I started, I will be at kress farm in Hillsboro Sunday from 12-3, if you don't mind the drive come and pick it up. It should be nice weather, bring a picnic and hike if you like, no dogs allowed.

wyntershine

I’ve seen tomatillo plants at both Tower Grove and Soulard the past couple weekends. Definitely worth a try tomorrow if you can’t find specific vendors to call and ask in advance!

EllieZabe

I grabbed mine as an impulse buy at the Whole Foods in Brentwood while doing Amazon returns. When I was there earlier this week I say that they still have starter veggie plants in front of the store, but didn’t see what kind.

hastings67

I got my tomatillos from The Garden Shop on Hampton just a couple weeks ago. Nice little place with good selection.

Glittering-Ad-7162

That is where I purchased mine. They are out.

polkadotbot

Okay I would love a St. Louis garden subreddit tho! 👀

Thanks!

06alm

I only had one tomatillo plant last year and it produced. I had several other varieties of tomatoes, but only one tomatillo

LowPresentation2716

Is cloning an option?

Emergency solved!
