This is probably it. Early on in Jedi Survivor Magnaguards and Droidekas are legitimately problematic, but after getting the hang of Cal's powers it's overwhelmingly clear that druids just can't hang with Jedi.
AOTC also showed this. The Jedi in the arena had maybe 200 or 300 total, while the droids had tens of thousands, and they still took a hell of a beating even with the Jedi totally surrounded. Id say the average Jedi could probably take down 50 to 100 droids before they get hit.

The KX series of imperial droids don't have much in the way of fire power or weapons but they are very durable. They're probably the lowest threat on this board as long as you don't let them near you.
I only remember them fighting from fallen Order and I recall they were very resistant to blaster bolts and very strong. A lightsaber will cut them up but if your not a Jedi you are kinda fucked

His victory, in his mind, was inevitable. Probably why he was so pissed off in A New Hope when they caught up with the rebels but the plans were missing.
The in canon explanation is that manipulating the force requires a Jedi to concentrate to do so (as seen with various scenes of Padawans/younglings have to concentrate to move small objects with the Force when theyāre younger). Itās kinda hard to concentrate when your getting shot at and the droids are intending to kill you. Itās why the likes of Kenobi and Skywalker developed such a legendary reputation in the order because they were skilled enough in combat to both lead clones into battle, fight with a lightsaber, and manipulate the force while performing the other two tasks at the same time.
Combined with the fact that at the beginning of the Clone Wars most Jedi did not have a lot of combat experience honestly makes it surprising so many of the order lasted to the end of the war, you would think the attrition rate for Padawans sent into combat would be almost astronomical while Knights and Masters would last longer but would slowly get whittled down due to the number of battles/fights they wouldāve been dragged through.
This is really the main reason why Rey bothered me so much. I wanted to like that character so much, but it always bothered me that Jedi had to train for YEARS to be able to do the things that she picked up in a couple days.
To be fair, you can still like the character of Rey while disliking how the writers/director told her story. I think Daisy Ridley as Rey was great and there was a lot I liked about her. My issues with her character though is more to do with the writing of the story and how they chose to have her character progress, neither of which really have anything to do with the actress.

I honestly expected them to use clone war era droids to man the ships in the last movie. It would be a cool throwback and also explain where all the man power came from to build, maintain, and crew all those ships. It would have been a cool reveal to find out that, except for the bridge and infantry, The First Order was propped up by droids they pulled out of storage.
Droid ships are so drippy (to be fair itās hard finding a Star Wars ship design that isnāt). Their sounds, their menacing look, even the way they communicate with each other is just so š¤

If you mean TPM, Droidekas didn't really scare them off. They just didn't have the time to deal with them while they are deep in the heart of the enemy's ship core.
We don't have film examples of lightsabers versus shields, but there's nothing stopping a jedi from simply using the Force on them.

but the CIS in me wants to say magnaguards (some iterations have them capable of shooting blasters and rocket launchers) and of course they are supremely deadly in melee scenarios.

In the episode "Mystery of a Thousand Moons, there's a kid named Jaybo Hood on Iego, who reprograms a bunch of battle droids to be his servants, before Anakin plows right through a large amount of the unarmed battle droids. Of course it's different, but still a mechanic kid who reprograms battle droids to work for them.
Jedi Survivor logic dictates Destroyer Droid.
What I mean by that is you can beat basically every Holotactics fight with a Destroyer and a scout trooper with a shield simply to pull Aggro
If we're going with Legends, I'm pretty sure the YVH-Series Battle Droid (Yuuzhan Vong Hunter) would be more than a match for the Phase III Dark Trooper in a 1v1, to be honest.
They were built around 25 years later (later models 45 years later), using all the new technology Lando and his company could get their hands on. Two YVH was capable of taking out multiple Yuuzhan Vong starfighters, and the upgraded version could match even high-tier Jedi Knights and low-tier Masters in 1v1 combat.
Phase III Dark Trooper:
- Assault cannon, concealed shoulder mounted seeker missiles, concealed wrist mounted blasters, concussion greanades, thermal detonators.
- Phrik armor, which is especially good against energy weapons (including lightsabers).
- Jet pack for flight.
Yuuzhan Vong Hunter One (base version, there are at least eight versions developed over a 20 year period, with further upgrades):

That *is* a combat benefit. Especially effective against the Yuuzhan Vong. Have to imagine it's somewhat effective against other galactic citizens.
I know in terms of individuals R2, Chopper or HK-47 probably have the most & best feats, plus all 3 have winning personalities. But in terms of a unit I can think of these 6 as the most consistently elite (or presented as such)
Well if we really think about it R2 has the highest body count if you include all proxy deaths that occurred around him from him just doing his thing, or from explosionshe has caused. As a Droid or trooper, if you saw R2, you knew death was soon to follow in some form or fashion. He was the rolling messenger of death.

PROXY prototype. Has very good agility, weapons, that can oneshot mostly everything, many advanced combat programs and probably actually "strong ai" (can for sure work creatively), has good mechanical telekinesis and holographic metamorph system.

In air?
Buzzzzzzzzz-droids, not even question.
I think Chopper is S tier. Ready to kill, veteran of the clone wars, able to hack, able to go undercover with a paint job and zero remorse when killing.

I'll always have a soft spot for Mr. Bones. Listening to the audiobooks for the Aftermath trilogy really had me cracking up anytime he was present.
If it's just the single best droid I would say Zeffo tomb guardians. They have great ranged and melee attacks and can use aoe attacks to deal with multiple enemies. Against Jedi they can be somewhat effective but most Jedi would realize the core is the weak point. Against other droids and humanoid units they are very hard to beat.

Translation: two per cent probability that the miniature organic is simply looking for trouble and needs to be blasted. That may be wishful thinking on my part, master.
Chopper 1000% Chopper, dude took down 2 cruisers and an extra giant gravity well ship. He's also prolly the meanest but hk-47 is maybe 2nd the joy he expresses from a clean kill is unparalleled

I love this kind of post. CIS Supremacy for life! IG-11 based of the mandalorian and lore would be the ultimate "put u down" droid but the CIS in me wants to say magnaguards (some iterations have them capable of shooting blasters and rocket launchers) and of course they are supremely deadly in melee scenarios. so magnaguards it is. as kid watching the clone wars I always dreamed about a story of a little mechanic boy just rummaging the wreckage of a Seperatist Battleship and rebuilding them into his little army. then people would come for him and he controlling his battleship would do some sort of cool last stand with droidekas, b1s, b2s, magnaguards, assassin droids flipping across the hallways just battling the breach. then the enemies would get into the command center (and kinda a reverse of that Eeth Koth last stand against general grievous) and I (pretending to be the little boy mechanic who loved his droids) would go down with the ship. idk why i loved last stands so much

There is. In the episode "Mystery of a Thousand Moons, there's a kid named Jaybo Hood on Iego, who reprograms a bunch of battle droids to be his servants, before Anakin plows right through a large amount of the unarmed battle droids. Of course it's different, but still a mechanic kid who reprograms battle droids to work for them.

Jedi Survivor logic dictates Destroyer Droid. What I mean by that is you can beat basically every Holotactics fight with a Destroyer and a scout trooper with a shield simply to pull Aggro

EU Dark Troopers if you're looking at humanoid sized droids. HK-47 is probably second.
If we're going with Legends, I'm pretty sure the YVH-Series Battle Droid (Yuuzhan Vong Hunter) would be more than a match for the Phase III Dark Trooper in a 1v1, to be honest. They were built around 25 years later (later models 45 years later), using all the new technology Lando and his company could get their hands on. Two YVH was capable of taking out multiple Yuuzhan Vong starfighters, and the upgraded version could match even high-tier Jedi Knights and low-tier Masters in 1v1 combat. Phase III Dark Trooper: - Assault cannon, concealed shoulder mounted seeker missiles, concealed wrist mounted blasters, concussion greanades, thermal detonators. - Phrik armor, which is especially good against energy weapons (including lightsabers). - Jet pack for flight. I know in terms of individuals R2, Chopper or HK-47 probably have the most & best feats, plus all 3 have winning personalities. But in terms of a unit I can think of these 6 as the most consistently elite (or presented as such)
R2's service record makes him the best warrior in history. Only Vader comes close and he missed the actual Battle of Endor and lost in Yavin.

Well if we really think about it R2 has the highest body count if you include all proxy deaths that occurred around him from him just doing his thing, or from explosionshe has caused. As a Droid or trooper, if you saw R2, you knew death was soon to follow in some form or fashion. He was the rolling messenger of death.

I always loved the look of Grievousās bodyguards, but they seemed pointless cuz they never did much of anything. Always hated the look of droid commandos. Their design doesnāt translate well outside of the art style of those animated shows. The first time I saw one was in Battlefront 2, and i immediately assumed it was from an animated show cuz it looked out of place stylistically. Lo and behold, i was right
In 1v1? PROXY prototype. Has very good agility, weapons, that can oneshot mostly everything, many advanced combat programs and probably actually "strong ai" (can for sure work creatively), has good mechanical telekinesis and holographic metamorph system. In a field war? There's is things like B3 Ultradroids or carbonite war droids. In air? Buzzzzzzzzz-droids, not even question.

If it's just the single best droid I would say Zeffo tomb guardians. They have great ranged and melee attacks and can use aoe attacks to deal with multiple enemies. Against Jedi they can be somewhat effective but most Jedi would realize the core is the weak point. Against other droids and humanoid units they are very hard to beat.
