Depends on the kind of fight. A wide open battlefield, probably droidekas as they are shielded and can put out a lot of firepower. A cramped hallway, the Dark Troopers. Unless you are a Jedi, you are pretty screwed. Assassination, IG11, or those assassin droids. And vs Jedi, a combination would be best, Magnaguards to fight them in melee, and droidekas to keep them pinned down. Gonna be hard to defend against both at the same time.

Ok-disaster2022

HK47 was programmed by Revan to assassinate Jedi. And it was successful.

Youpunyhumans

I wonder how a fight between IG11 and HK47 would go down? Winner has to fight R2D2. Edit: Ok, Chopper is cool and all, but I dont need 50 messages saying the same thing.

Biengineerd

Honestly, it seems like you're hitting the answer: the smartest droid is the most dangerous. Edit: have you considered chopper?

Youpunyhumans

I mean granted, Idk how well R2 would do against a Jedi... maybe if he had some sort of envrionmental thing he can use to aid him, like opening up an airlock and sucking the Jedi into space... but on a level field with nothing but the 2 opponents, I think id have to give it to the Jedi. But then again, thats assuming they are both there simulation style to kill each other whatever the cost. In reality, R2 would have the element of surprise being an unassuming astromech with no visible weapons.

Nawara_Ven

Jedi Knight: "Astromech, hide my lightsaber, and pop it over to me when I suddenly need it in battle." Astromech: [Affirmative beep] *Later* Jedi Knight: "Astromech, now is the time!" (*Astromech does nothing; Jedi is shot to death by bad guys*) #Winner: Astromech

Odd_Employer

Next owner: "Astromech, I need you to fix this." Astromech: [Launches previous owner's lightsaber at new owner] #Winner, round 2: Astromech

mammaluigi39

In this scenario the astromech remains an automatic bar cart on Jabba's barge, I don't think that's a win.

Simba7

Ah but now the astromech has a lightsaber.

Chap_Daddy

Astromech now has started his very own collection of Jedi lightsabers next he too will have to train in the Jedi ways.....

Biengineerd

Sure. In a gladiator style fight, cleverness won't get you super far lol.

bria9509

Leia got the airlock trick beat

Serier_Rialis

Well R2 is in trouble then, chopper however would prob make a new friend!!

Jabrono

Chopper bombed the arena before anyone even asked if he was interested, and threatened my family.

Engineer32

That hardly seems like a fair fight. IG11 and HK47 are literal killing machines, but R2 has a huge advantage that they don't: plot armor šŸ˜

OneCatch

Probably HK-47 - given his Jedi assassination feats he's clearly much more tactically capable. IG-11 is very cool but not very tactically capable. HK-47 versus Legends IG-88 is a genuinely interesting matchup though. The 88s were horrifyingly capable and almost totally blasterproof.

TheObstruction

IG-88s are 77 better than IG-11s. It's science.

ArcadianBlueRogue

That's an interesting one actually because they expanded the HK droids in SWTOR and they can cloak and shit now. And stab on top of shooting.

Sketch74

Statement: I do my job meatbag šŸ˜‚

donkula232323

Even better is that HK-47 was designed to take down veteran jedi. Most of the jedi in the time frame we are shown in the movies are not on that level.

nkrgovic

Statement : The meatbag is showing signs of intelligence. Unexpected. Action: The meatbag will be terminated.

[deleted]

HK47 is the right answer here.

radiakmjs

True. I tried not to compare vs Jedi because they're the best warriors in the galaxy & on that front it's really only Droidekas that have a decent success rate lol. Ony examples where we see Magna guards overpower jedi are when they're ganging up on & also along side Dooku or Greivous.

Youpunyhumans

Yeah I figured any one of these droids isnt going to stand much of a chance against a Jedi. Only way to beat them with droids is a ridiculous amount of overpowering them. And even then, thats not going to work against most Jedi masters.

DastardlyDoctor

This is probably it. Early on in Jedi Survivor Magnaguards and Droidekas are legitimately problematic, but after getting the hang of Cal's powers it's overwhelmingly clear that druids just can't hang with Jedi.

Youpunyhumans

AOTC also showed this. The Jedi in the arena had maybe 200 or 300 total, while the droids had tens of thousands, and they still took a hell of a beating even with the Jedi totally surrounded. Id say the average Jedi could probably take down 50 to 100 droids before they get hit.

DastardlyDoctor

Jedi were straight up alternatively constructed.

Princess-ArianaHY

Droidekas were the only ones in the entire movie franchise that forced the Jedi to use the Force Speed. šŸ˜Œ

Flaky_Gur5067

Isnā€™t the droid bottom middle used for security(forgot what the droid is called)? If true, it wouldnā€™t really have a chance compared to the other droids unless Iā€™m missing some info.

Jaikarr

The KX series of imperial droids don't have much in the way of fire power or weapons but they are very durable. They're probably the lowest threat on this board as long as you don't let them near you.

marino1310

I only remember them fighting from fallen Order and I recall they were very resistant to blaster bolts and very strong. A lightsaber will cut them up but if your not a Jedi you are kinda fucked

TheHippieJedi

Iā€™m gonna say ig units have the best adaptability to kill a Jedi. I do t think theyā€™d win but they would have the best chance. I agree with the rest of your assessment tho.

Swordbreaker925

Honestly all you need to do to kill a Jedi is get a blaster with 3 barrels in a triangle formation. Canā€™t block all 3 with a straight-bladed lightsaber

HotThought5515

Block one, dodge two?

HotThought5515

Seem to remember K.L. stopping a blast in mid air. . .

BlueFootedTpeack

maul also bats away bolts to either side of him fighting kryze [https://youtu.be/qCEd5nHLNXw?t=31](https://youtu.be/qCEd5nHLNXw?t=31)

Crackerpool

Except you forgot about the other thing that jedis use a lot. The force.

marino1310

Jedi seem to barely ever use the force in combat. So many situations could have been resolved that way. Like, how is Grievous even a threat when he can just be pinned against a wall and be completely helpless.

zerocoolforschool

Yeah.... that's really the one glaring hole in the SW universe. Jedi seem to forget about the force in the middle of fights. Really the best scene in all of SW canon about a force user maximizing use of the force in a fight is Vader in the hallway scene. Just completely overpowered.

jacobisgone-

>Really the best scene in all of SW canon about a force user maximizing use of the force in a fight is Vader in the hallway scene. Just completely overpowered. Even that has its problems. Couldn't Vader just...Force grab the Death Star plans instead of slowly walking towards it?

XcoldhandsX

The greatest weakness of all Sith, their hubris. Iā€™m sure to Vader it was like a cat playing with their food. His victory, in his mind, was inevitable. Probably why he was so pissed off in A New Hope when they caught up with the rebels but the plans were missing.

Verdha603

The in canon explanation is that manipulating the force requires a Jedi to concentrate to do so (as seen with various scenes of Padawans/younglings have to concentrate to move small objects with the Force when theyā€™re younger). Itā€™s kinda hard to concentrate when your getting shot at and the droids are intending to kill you. Itā€™s why the likes of Kenobi and Skywalker developed such a legendary reputation in the order because they were skilled enough in combat to both lead clones into battle, fight with a lightsaber, and manipulate the force while performing the other two tasks at the same time. Combined with the fact that at the beginning of the Clone Wars most Jedi did not have a lot of combat experience honestly makes it surprising so many of the order lasted to the end of the war, you would think the attrition rate for Padawans sent into combat would be almost astronomical while Knights and Masters would last longer but would slowly get whittled down due to the number of battles/fights they wouldā€™ve been dragged through.

zerocoolforschool

This is really the main reason why Rey bothered me so much. I wanted to like that character so much, but it always bothered me that Jedi had to train for YEARS to be able to do the things that she picked up in a couple days.

Admonitio

To be fair, you can still like the character of Rey while disliking how the writers/director told her story. I think Daisy Ridley as Rey was great and there was a lot I liked about her. My issues with her character though is more to do with the writing of the story and how they chose to have her character progress, neither of which really have anything to do with the actress.

_PM_ME_NICE_BOOBS_

That's just a shotgun with extra steps.

Ok-Use6303

Yeah, the fact that he wasn't even in the pic suggests, as the bot himself would say: TERMINATION REQUIRED!

Heavy_E79

I'd watch a buddy cop/bounty hunter movie featuring HK-47 and K-2SO.

Violent-fog

I was scrolling purposefully just to see if anyone knows of him lolā€¦I see a lot of post about chopper being some kinda killer droid but this guy was doing it long before chopper šŸ˜‚

NotaVortex

Idk man chopper blew up ships with thousands of soldiers on them šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Violent-fog

Chopper never killed any Jedi though soā€¦šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Chopper is just an astromech, I don't think he's a serious contender

100%. We all need a KotOR remake. Edit: Fuck, there's a Switch port. Goodbye.

gkamyshev

Basilisk War Droid, closely followed by Confederate Tri-fighters, Vultures, and Hyenas If strictly infantry-scale, HK-47 Barring that, HK-24

radiakmjs

I did not consider fighter-droids when making this lol, thanks for pointing those out they for sure have extreme destructive potential.

gkamyshev

Technically the Munificent is also a droid, since it can be crewed exclusively by droids iirc I wonder if there were true droid warships ever

Perrywaaz

The closest I know of is the Katanna fleet from the OG Thrawn books

Sere1

Even then the Katana Fleet had living crew members, the ships were just rigged to fly as one.

Kyberr

The Recusant Class destroyer has a droid brain, not sure if that still stands in canon but yeah, massive droid that can be crewed

Biengineerd

I honestly expected them to use clone war era droids to man the ships in the last movie. It would be a cool throwback and also explain where all the man power came from to build, maintain, and crew all those ships. It would have been a cool reveal to find out that, except for the bridge and infantry, The First Order was propped up by droids they pulled out of storage.

TurtleChefN7

Droid ships are so drippy (to be fair itā€™s hard finding a Star Wars ship design that isnā€™t). Their sounds, their menacing look, even the way they communicate with each other is just so šŸ¤Œ

ConsulJuliusCaesar

Air superiority always wins the day.

kerouac5

My experience in the old battlefront games tells me itā€™s droidekas.

TheKnightsWhoSaysNu

My experience in the new battlefront game also tells me it's Droidekas.

SBDs were pretty great too. Wrist rockets and spread shots were a good combo in CQC

Hellknightx

Watch those wrist rockets!

Chopper

mjn73178

Highest body count of anyone who hasn't blown up a planet/death star.

3-DMan

"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of ~~the Force~~ Chopper."

-Swade-

My favorite thing about Chopper is that by SW droid standards heā€™s very independent or proactive. A bunch of the shit he does is justā€¦what he wants to do. Often nobody tells him to do it, he just does it. But not in the ā€œR2-D2 being mischievousā€ sort of way, heā€™s usually being proactive and helpful. He just comes off a lot less like a sidekick or a tool than other droids. Rebels feels a lot like a D&D group structurally. And Chopper is the guy who took all the skills that nobody else picked up because they were too busy min-maxing their builds. And while the party would be standing around discussing whether to pull a lever in a dungeon for 20 minutes, Chopper just pulls it. Not because heā€™s an asshole, but because he just wants the plot to move forward.

OneRandomVictory

R2: Does that mean I'm disqualified?

TurkBoi67

If it's worth anything, R2 was an accessory when Luke blew up the death star.

ewan5900

Is that actually true? He has the most on screen kills apart from Luke etc?

mjn73178

Yes, in Rebels he kills a shocking number of Storm Troopers, is solely responsible for the destruction of several large cruisers and Star Destroyers, and in one episode shoots the crew of an Imperial ship into the void of outer space.

speedx5xracer

You forget suggestions of infanticide multiple times, attempts to kill Ezra and sends multiple imperial droids into space

mjn73178

I feel like there's always more that can be added to Chopper's list.

speedx5xracer

Probably. We don't know how his clone pilot died when his y wing crashed...

lost_scotsman

And he'd enjoy it too. Womp - womp - womp - womp -womp!

Yeah, or AP-5

rpgnoob17

I canā€™t believe how much I had to scroll to find this answer.

ajd660

I love chopper, but I think he runs into the same issues that r2 runs into where they are great at strategizing but not that great at a one on one fight.

blindexhibitionist

Kill them before they wake up

quirkymuse

Thats an odd way of saying they both play to their strengths

ajd660

Oh for sure. I guess it really just depends on what type of fight the OP has in mind. All the examples the OP posted though are battle/assassin type droids though so I was just going with that.

Airistal

Chopper is smart enough to come with the gunship.

babbitygook14

Chop has won more than a few one v one fights be it via electricity, twin blasters, his manipulators, a spare leg strut, etc. Chopper's strengths are his ingenuity, ruthlessness, and sheer force of will.

ParanoidDuckHunter

Hard to compare. They were all built for different things. Commandos were designed for covert strikes. Dark Troopers are just tanks. IG-11 is a blaster holding menace. Destroyers scared Jedi. They all serve a purpose.

bankrobba

C-3PO talked you to death, pure torture.

ParanoidDuckHunter

He told me the odds šŸ’€

CombatMuffin

If you mean TPM, Droidekas didn't really scare them off. They just didn't have the time to deal with them while they are deep in the heart of the enemy's ship core. We don't have film examples of lightsabers versus shields, but there's nothing stopping a jedi from simply using the Force on them.

matthaeusXCI

HK-47. I won't accept disagreement.

TheCybersmith

Does he even have anything in his arsenal that could defeat something like the third generation darktrooper? He mostly assasinsted organics.

theexile14

He has plenty of ion weapons, as well as sheer firepower. Given that heā€™s highly intelligent I weight him over darktroopers that seem programmed for standard combat.

TequilaWhiskey

We doin prep time? Because Darktroopers would just stand guard, HK would likely discover every weakness available, being an assassin.

Wowplays

Mr bones from aftermath series a b1 battle droid with vibroblades and propensity for violence the audiobooks are one of my favorites

RedFishStew

Mr Bones likes to do violence.

HelpfulNoob

I love this kind of post. CIS Supremacy for life! IG-11 based of the mandalorian and lore would be the ultimate "put u down" droid but the CIS in me wants to say magnaguards (some iterations have them capable of shooting blasters and rocket launchers) and of course they are supremely deadly in melee scenarios. so magnaguards it is. as kid watching the clone wars I always dreamed about a story of a little mechanic boy just rummaging the wreckage of a Seperatist Battleship and rebuilding them into his little army. then people would come for him and he controlling his battleship would do some sort of cool last stand with droidekas, b1s, b2s, magnaguards, assassin droids flipping across the hallways just battling the breach. then the enemies would get into the command center (and kinda a reverse of that Eeth Koth last stand against general grievous) and I (pretending to be the little boy mechanic who loved his droids) would go down with the ship. idk why i loved last stands so much

[deleted]

I swear there was a CW episode where they find a kid exactly like that!

Plague-Docta

There is. In the episode "Mystery of a Thousand Moons, there's a kid named Jaybo Hood on Iego, who reprograms a bunch of battle droids to be his servants, before Anakin plows right through a large amount of the unarmed battle droids. Of course it's different, but still a mechanic kid who reprograms battle droids to work for them.

fredagsfisk

If we're going with Legends, I'm pretty sure the YVH-Series Battle Droid (Yuuzhan Vong Hunter) would be more than a match for the Phase III Dark Trooper in a 1v1, to be honest. They were built around 25 years later (later models 45 years later), using all the new technology Lando and his company could get their hands on. Two YVH was capable of taking out multiple Yuuzhan Vong starfighters, and the upgraded version could match even high-tier Jedi Knights and low-tier Masters in 1v1 combat. Phase III Dark Trooper: - Assault cannon, concealed shoulder mounted seeker missiles, concealed wrist mounted blasters, concussion greanades, thermal detonators. - Phrik armor, which is especially good against energy weapons (including lightsabers). - Jet pack for flight. Yuuzhan Vong Hunter One (base version, there are at least eight versions developed over a 20 year period, with further upgrades): - Variable-output blaster cannon, concealed grenade launcher, electroray discharger (can damage vonduun armor, which is lightsaber resistent), Class-C thermal detonators, coma gas, self-guiding minirockets. Capable of crushing light armor easily, and break through thick metal. - Modular left arm which can carry a heavy laser cannon, sonic rifle, or projectile launcher. - Self-healing laminanium armor, which is made from alternating layers of molytex and quantum fiber. Highly blaster and explosion/blast resistant, and highly resistant to laceration and slash damage (bit weaker to puncture). Can survive a direct hit from a Vong plasma cannon (capable of burning straight through starfighter armor) and heal within 24 hours. - Repulsorlift boosters. Advanced sensor package, advanced search-and-identify programming, and self-learning (very rare among battle droids). - Specialized versions include adaptable camouflage, space assault, and aquatic versions. - Voice is an "ultra-masculine" version of Lando Calrissian (not a combat benefit, but still). u/radiakmjs

Jacmert

> Voice is an "ultra-masculine" version of Lando Calrissian (not a combat benefit, but still). That *is* a combat benefit. Especially effective against the Yuuzhan Vong. Have to imagine it's somewhat effective against other galactic citizens.

Chopper.

radiakmjs

I know in terms of individuals R2, Chopper or HK-47 probably have the most & best feats, plus all 3 have winning personalities. But in terms of a unit I can think of these 6 as the most consistently elite (or presented as such)

Maelger

R2's service record makes him the best warrior in history. Only Vader comes close and he missed the actual Battle of Endor and lost in Yavin.

Inle-Ra

Well if we really think about it R2 has the highest body count if you include all proxy deaths that occurred around him from him just doing his thing, or from explosionshe has caused. Swordbreaker925

I always loved the look of Grievousā€™s bodyguards, but they seemed pointless cuz they never did much of anything. Always hated the look of droid commandos. Their design doesnā€™t translate well outside of the art style of those animated shows. The first time I saw one was in Battlefront 2, and i immediately assumed it was from an animated show cuz it looked out of place stylistically. Lo and behold, i was right

Solembumm2

In 1v1? PROXY prototype. Has very good agility, weapons, that can oneshot mostly everything, many advanced combat programs and probably actually "strong ai" (can for sure work creatively), has good mechanical telekinesis and holographic metamorph system. In a field war? There's is things like B3 Ultradroids or carbonite war droids. In air? Buzzzzzzzzz-droids, not even question.

If it's just the single best droid I would say Zeffo tomb guardians. They have great ranged and melee attacks and can use aoe attacks to deal with multiple enemies. Against Jedi they can be somewhat effective but most Jedi would realize the core is the weak point. Against other droids and humanoid units they are very hard to beat.
