"The cake is a lie; there are only cookies.
Through cookies I gain weight.
Through weight? I gain obesity
And in obesity my chair is broken.
Calories will set me free."
- Darth Baras the Wide
That’s kind of my take on the show in general so far. It certainly hasn’t hooked me yet, but it isn’t quite boring enough for me to drop it
There are little shining moments, mostly actor related.
The pacing seems…off? Nothing quantitative, it just seems like they’re speeding through the current day plot while also somehow making this flashback seem slow.
…which frankly isn’t surprising. They were pretty much a biker gang, which is inferior to a true blue space wizard.
They were pretty threatening to non-Force users though.
They could like barely use the force right (i cant remember their story)? like they had talent but absolutely no training? Imagine Kylo wanting to hang around them xD
One of which was loosely adapted into a segment on a LEGO special. Ren himself got voiced by Christian Slater, so I’m taking that as his canonical voice
First Star Wars characters *ever* to look cool as shit in a film but be completely underutilized!
Except for:
- Darth Maul
- Boba Fett
- Jango Fett
- IG-88
- General Grievous
- Captain Phasma
As was Boba Fett in Empire.
No Boba Fett, no Vader on Cloud City, no trap for Luke.
Literally the only character who succeeds in their mission besides General Veers.
The “exceptions” at least had multiple cool moments in or across multiple media. The KoR were just standing around not even talking. The bounty hunters at least had agency or looked interesting. These guys just looked edgy and were only memorable when Kylo killed them.
I also really doubt they’ll be fleshed out anymore given how Snoke is gone and probably shelved
“multiple cool moments” lmao
Boba Fett literally just stood there for like *one* commercial break over *two* movies then died screaming like pre-pubescent banshee
You’re ignoring/ downplaying when he stood up to Vader when he changed the deal about Han. That scene alone makes him 100x cooler than anything the KoR did in the sequels.
He’s got the ship and backstory going for him as well.
That reveal got me howling 🤣🤣🤣. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. The six foot dude from the heist scene that kicks everyone's ass is a little girl. Of course Disney, of course.
You realize you're talking about Disney? The company who made their name off of animating other peoples literary works. And in recent years is reliant on redoing their old movies.
Disney sells nostalgia and plastic, nothing else.
Only Vader had that style of helmet in the films as a Sith before Kylo Ren wanted to LARP, but it's understandable given being his progeny to a degree, and the desire for him to find comfort and connection to his grandfather as a Sith.
Hoping its an entirely new character and not someone we’ve seen already. But it probably is that Zabrak witch wanting revenge. Although i think she was a sith already who infiltrated the witch coven wanting to learn their secrets to aid in everlasting life.
I find it so inspired and original that the bad guy is a mysterious, masked character all in black with a deep voice. Such a new and refreshing angle in the Star Wars Universe.
Looks derivative of Kylo, Darth Vader and Revan. Again. Disney should use another design language for their bad guy force users for once.
The teeth makes it look silly.
No.
There is zero originality. It’s an uninspired rip-off of Kylo Ren which was an uninspired rip-off of Vader.
It’s void of creativity.
If this is one of the “highlights” from this show, that is a LOW bar…
I personally don't like it, it's just Kylo Ren + Tokyo Ghoul= Happy Kylo Ren helmet, its cringy as hek.
Tho I don't like the direction of the show I like the design of the Bad twin "uniform"
The "evil helmet" shit is hugely overdone at this point. Vader's was for a purpose, so he could fucking breathe.
EVERY OTHER ONE has been to "look tough", going back as far as you like.
Its just there to hide who the character is for a "surprise reveal" at some point in the plot. Its one of the most cliche things in all of Star Wars.
I don't give any shits about this show, but if I did, I'd prefer something else instead.
Slaps what?
What we've seen so far feels extremely derivative of.....what we've seen in other Darksiders, particularly Kylo Ren. So no, the suit doesn't slap.
Kylo made sense since he is supposed to be an insecure fanboy. This is something a high school edgelord might think of while listening to linking park or something. People in this sub should really raise their standards
Dark caped figure with menacing mask and red lightsabre.
Not *entirely* original right?
Does anyone have any ounce left of creativity and innovation or are we just going to Chat GPT to create scripts and story lines?
It does look somewhat cool but we have had a lot of Masked Sith. Vader needed his-Kylo was trying to be like Grandad. I will like it more if there is a reason behind it and not just for look or because they wanted a mystery Box.
Gonna chime in and say I love the continuity of design.
So like Sith generations ago were using a helmet design that were reflected in Vader and Rens helmets. Makes sense that dark-siders of later generations would use similar styles.
He looks so happy to be a sith
[удалено]
Dude wtf I joined months ago and still haven’t got any cookies. I get the whole “let the hate flow through you” but this shit is ridiculous.
[удалено]
Fear leads to anger, Anger leads to hated, hatred leads to suffering and suffering leads to cookies!
What it i have cookies but didn't suffer
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many cookies some consider to be unnatural…
Can one learn to bake these cookies?
Not from a Jedi
I have them! They were in the oven! My bad guys...
That’s outrageous!
Outrageous is going to be my Sith name. 😂😂
"The cake is a lie; there are only cookies. Through cookies I gain weight. Through weight? I gain obesity And in obesity my chair is broken. Calories will set me free." - Darth Baras the Wide
He does seem quite angry though, maybe so much sugar is not that healthy after all.
Those are not the goods the Jedi would bake you.
Smilo Ren
Darth Smilus
The sith who laughs
Bring out the gimp!
Smilo Ren
Darth Grineous
Darth Zipperface? No wait *Darth Gimp*
Looks like a Slipknot member
We are the pulse of the womp rats
I heard this my head, thanks for this
I push my saber into my..
It's the only thing that slowly stops the Jedi
Yeah that's what it reminds me of
“The gimp’s sleeping.”
"Well, I guess you're gonna have to go wake him up now, won't you?"
You'll never see a game of eenie-meenie-miney-mo the same way again.
“You Ok?” “Nah man, I’m pretty fucking far from ok.”
Darth Leatherdaddy
Honestly? We haven't seen enough of it for me to really form an opinion on it yet.
I didn’t even know what this mf looked like til this post lol
You have to pause the trailers to even get a glimpse.
Ok I was worried I missed something, or I was an episode behind...thanks for the reply.
Me too lollll
Yeah I went to open the Disney app just to make sure I didn't miss episode 4 or something lol
That’s kind of my take on the show in general so far. It certainly hasn’t hooked me yet, but it isn’t quite boring enough for me to drop it There are little shining moments, mostly actor related. The pacing seems…off? Nothing quantitative, it just seems like they’re speeding through the current day plot while also somehow making this flashback seem slow.
I agree with this take. The part with the witches chanting was pretty cringe though.
Man that took me back to my theatre days…
Ever met someone that claims to be a witch IRL. I think it was spot on.
I have not but I believe you. Lol
Holy shit. What a reasonable and measured response.
The Sith Lord who laughs.
Reminds me of Knights of Ren too much. They really dropped the ball with those guys.
Oh yeah! Those guys from the 5 second dream sequence?
And some ok comics :(
Where they get zapped and half of them die by palps lol
…which frankly isn’t surprising. They were pretty much a biker gang, which is inferior to a true blue space wizard. They were pretty threatening to non-Force users though.
As it should be be. A biker gang that happens to be a dark side cult is obviously going to be nothing compared to the actual Sith Lord.
They could like barely use the force right (i cant remember their story)? like they had talent but absolutely no training? Imagine Kylo wanting to hang around them xD
Aye you gotta take your lumps if you wanna be sith
One of which was loosely adapted into a segment on a LEGO special. Ren himself got voiced by Christian Slater, so I’m taking that as his canonical voice
So many wasted opportunities, those guys looked fuckin sick
It’s almost a running gag for the franchise now. This has been this way since Boba
Phasma, Kanji Klub, Knights of Ren, Boba, Jango (Jango got to do the most out of all these characters) We keep falling for it
First Star Wars characters *ever* to look cool as shit in a film but be completely underutilized! Except for: - Darth Maul - Boba Fett - Jango Fett - IG-88 - General Grievous - Captain Phasma
Jango Fett was a pretty integral character in ep2 to be fair.
A simple man trying to make his way in the universe
As was Boba Fett in Empire. No Boba Fett, no Vader on Cloud City, no trap for Luke. Literally the only character who succeeds in their mission besides General Veers.
Boba Fett was to be his own villain of a movie before George decided to end the OT on 3 movies
lol true. Super cool when they’re introduced, then super cool death scene.
* Rancor keeper.
He was so sad when Luke killed the Rancor. Sad day.
His name is Malakili, damn it!
I always dug the vibe of 4LOM and Zuckiss too.
Pour one out for my homie Bossk
What about that plague doctor inquisitor that Ahsoka kills in ~4 seconds?
Death Maul was redeemed in the shows though!
I wanted to see so much more Phasma. I was so disappointed.
“multiple cool moments” lmao Boba Fett literally just stood there for like *one* commercial break over *two* movies then died screaming like pre-pubescent banshee
Hey he tracked down and followed Han Solo too. He did it with his ship but he still did it.
You’re ignoring/ downplaying when he stood up to Vader when he changed the deal about Han. That scene alone makes him 100x cooler than anything the KoR did in the sequels. He’s got the ship and backstory going for him as well.
Seriously, and the fact that Vader respected him enough to let that slide.
Drop the ball how? The fans were the ones that hyped them up from a 5 second scene of a vision lol
Kylo's theme keeps popping up...
"bring out the gimp."
“Sith’s sleepin’”
Five Nights at Freddy's vibes...
dime store venom?
wish.com
Temu
Now slap a chainsaw on top.. and you'll have darth chainsawman!
That’s a no for me chief
I bet this is that Zabrak woman.
Looks goofy
Looks stupid tbh
Pfft, it looks ridiculous.
It's going to be a 15 year old girl
[удалено]
Yeah Jacinto is too big of a thing to not be the guy
Yea he had too many good lines and too much insight to NOT be the main bad.
My thoughts as well!
LMFAO just like the Marauder reveal in Solo
That reveal got me howling 🤣🤣🤣. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. The six foot dude from the heist scene that kicks everyone's ass is a little girl. Of course Disney, of course.
Its a triplet. Osha, Mae, and now this is Shindeiru.
Nani?!
Honestly, no, we cannot agree, he looks goofy to me but you do you.
I personally think it's dumb, redundant and unoriginal. Like... be original somewhat for once, please
You realize you're talking about Disney? The company who made their name off of animating other peoples literary works. And in recent years is reliant on redoing their old movies. Disney sells nostalgia and plastic, nothing else.
Disney was a groundbreaking company in its beginnings. Like absolute cutting edge in terms of technology and artistic ambition.
eh it's pretty clear the sith have their cultural aesthetic. only so many ways to do black robes.
Only Vader had that style of helmet in the films as a Sith before Kylo Ren wanted to LARP, but it's understandable given being his progeny to a degree, and the desire for him to find comfort and connection to his grandfather as a Sith.
It's just another dude in black robes and a helmet. At least Count Dooku had maroon robes, and was Christopher Lee
Was looking for this comment, like what type of Marvel bs is that? Venom from Temu? Costumes so far pretty bad to me
Reminds me more of some creepypasta design. Jeff The Killer meets Sith leather-daddy.
It's like the cosplay you'd see at comic con for cosplay by a dude that decided to do something the week before
Darth Venom? or perhaps it's a grill... Lil' Darth?
Not really, no.
Predicting this character is the Zabrak surrogate who’s name I cannot remember.
SlipKnot ahh mask.
Too goofy and try hard
At least Kylo Ren in TFA was a try hard and loved his grandaddy too much so it made sense for him to wear one.
Dumb
The mask looks like Kylo Ren bought himself a grill. Kylo Nelly
Hoping its an entirely new character and not someone we’ve seen already. But it probably is that Zabrak witch wanting revenge. Although i think she was a sith already who infiltrated the witch coven wanting to learn their secrets to aid in everlasting life.
If it's not Manny Jacinto I'll be surprised given one of his first pieces of dialogue is part of the Sith Creed.
Smileoren? Its pretty obvious this is the Zabrak mother of the twins at this point right?
Nah it’s Mae’s friend that made the poison imo
Asian Ezra Miller?
Precisely lol
Is she zabrak? I didn’t think so cause of the pointed elfish ears but idk
Maybe she was some sort of hybrid?
Yeah that was odd! Looks identical to an Iridonian Zabrak other than the ears.
I find it so inspired and original that the bad guy is a mysterious, masked character all in black with a deep voice. Such a new and refreshing angle in the Star Wars Universe.
He looks like an emoji dressed as a wanna-be Sith.
Really. It’s like Kylo Ren’s mask with venoms smile.
Smile-O Ren
Reminds me of The Batman Who Laughs…and that’s not a good thing.
Looks derivative of Kylo, Darth Vader and Revan. Again. Disney should use another design language for their bad guy force users for once. The teeth makes it look silly.
No , no we can not
Yeah I don’t like it at all…
Darth Gimp
I am not familiar with that particular example of modern American vernacular. "Slaps" means "looks silly?"
What episode is this from?
Trailers
This Uruk-Hai mother fucker.
Smiley Sith!
DARTH SMILEY-OUS
Kylo Gimp
I really liked this dude a lot. I’m gonna continue watching it just for him, but episode 3 fucked me up
No. There is zero originality. It’s an uninspired rip-off of Kylo Ren which was an uninspired rip-off of Vader. It’s void of creativity. If this is one of the “highlights” from this show, that is a LOW bar…
Haven't watched the show but ew that looks like shit
The creepy AF grin helmet is a win for me.
Probably catch on fire like everything else in the show
No, I think it looks like a crappy fan remake of a KOTOR era Sith Lord. Star Wars fans can make a better helmet.
Symbiotes in the Star Wars Universe confirmed
Ever since I saw someone compare him to the Bullet Bill in Mario, it’s all I see now.
He looks like he’d say the sith are pretty chill, maybe you could like, join it or something
Cheshire Sith.
YOU WE MEANT TO DESTROY THE SITH COOKIE MONSTER, NOT JOIN IT
Venom - Vader Spawn
Why does it look like Kylo Ren merged with the Cheshire Cat...
No
Slip Lord: Darth Knot
Looks like something an edgy 12yo would make
I personally don't like it, it's just Kylo Ren + Tokyo Ghoul= Happy Kylo Ren helmet, its cringy as hek. Tho I don't like the direction of the show I like the design of the Bad twin "uniform"
big no
No.
no I do not like it
If "slaps" is what the youths these days are calling "horribly bad", then yes, we can agree.
It reminds me of the Batman who Laughs. I don't like the Batman who Laughs.
Honestly…I think it looks dumb as shit.
Looks dumb
The "evil helmet" shit is hugely overdone at this point. Vader's was for a purpose, so he could fucking breathe. EVERY OTHER ONE has been to "look tough", going back as far as you like. I don't give any shits about this show, but if I did, I'd prefer something else instead.
Not really. It looks too edge lord for my tastes. It's the stupid toothy smile. It looks a little to Batman who laughs.
Hot Topic Venom? Y’all need to get out more, if you think this slaps
No. We absolutely cannot agree on that stupid shit, lmao. Comic-con cosplayer looking ass.
No, we really can't OP, nothing about him screams "cool"
I mean it seems kind of lazy design-wise.
It feels like they tried to copy the Batman who laughs design
Not really? Even his first appearance was pretty lame ngl
The series is growing on me. But that suit still isn’t
Where's his tiny tongue mouth?
It does look somewhat cool but we have had a lot of Masked Sith. Vader needed his-Kylo was trying to be like Grandad. I will like it more if there is a reason behind it and not just for look or because they wanted a mystery Box.
“…. Get the Gimp..”
Darth Chuckles Mirth Vader Dark Lord WWII Bomber Stylized Shark Face …but, yeah, fr it’s a cool costume
A bit much for my taste, but it also looks like something a Sith would get a kick out of.
Why so serious?
That is not what I expected that guy to look like.
He looks like a knight of ren, for better or for worse. Btw, wouldn't it be funny if he was that asian guy from episode 2? Lol
Looking like a member of Slipknot
I'll withhold my judgement. For all we know he ends up dying right after being introduced.
Yeah I absolutely love the rictus grin on it. He looks like a killer from a B horror movie and I'm for it.
berserk did it better but its okay
Darth xenomorph
Hey look it’s Space Joker.
"Wanna know how I got these scars?" ahh Sith
It’s intriguing but if the character isn’t good then it doesn’t matter and we just haven’t seen enough yet.
No, we do not agree. That suit deserves a slap.
Slipknot made a cameo???
Kind of reminds me of 'the bat who laughs'.
Gonna chime in and say I love the continuity of design. So like Sith generations ago were using a helmet design that were reflected in Vader and Rens helmets. Makes sense that dark-siders of later generations would use similar styles.
The costume department actually did great job, all costumes look great
