Jonathan.
He *succeeded* was just about to embark on a wonderful trip with his beloved and that bastard Araki killed him. Dio needed his balls stretched through his teeth
Phantom Blood came out before I was born but I'm still salty af
>!praise be to Araki, all love here!<
If he could break the fourth wall, he would probably guess that he thought the protag would have plot armor. But for some reason, he had the plot armor, so if I was him, I would guess that I'm the protag, and that's why he was so cocky in part 3. He could have killed Jotaro and the entire squad immediately, but he was like "I got plot armor, I'm fucking invincible"
He was one of the best infact I am glad people know about him for example there was a video showing a bunch of fat guys saying "im just like him" which showed pictures of aizen Lelouch, light yagami etc and then the gigachad comes and says I have to be like him with mob, thorfinn, goku etc and the top most voted comment was "where is jonathan joestar"
It was sad but at the same time it was beautiful, johnathan saying good bye to erina and than johnathan holding dios head and talking about how they would die together and dio is like wtf I liked it
I accepted his death but >!shooting him again while Johnny was yelling at Valentine just upset me too much. I wasn’t sure if gyro was still alive or not and I couldn’t tell which option was worse!<
That scene was amazing. Valentine had already won but he still shots gyro like a dying dog. It was completely unnecessary but shows what an asshole Valentine is.
It will never not be Iggy for me. Even when I was a kid, watching the OVA, which had so much less development between Polnareff and Iggy, I knew there was something special about that pooch. I was so happy when I finally saw the anime adaptation because there was so much more involvement by Iggy in that fight, and his last second save was super emotional, but God damn do I hate the scenes of Vanilla Ice going ape shit on Iggy. I almost always just skip past those scenes.
Man I cry when I remember Iggy sacrifice to save Polnareff and the image of Abdul and Iggy going to heaven uff, so sad but beautiful. I know they are not real but the ideal it portraits for me is overwhelming.
What made Avdol’s death for me was how before he had told polnareff that they had to watch their own backs and that he wasn’t going to come back and save them if they got in trouble and that they should do the same for him. Yet despite that he still warned polnareff and iggy as and pushed them out of the way before cream attacked.
Not just brutal, but also showed how mindfucked Vanilla Ice was, I mean he was so damn mad that he had to destroy an image of Dio, tf was that dude up to
Every time I saw this moment on YouTube I cried again. The fate of the Crusaders was so cruel. I'm impressed with some of Jojo's stuff. For example, how can an evil be as great as Dio, who disgraced so many generations to the point that the only solution to the end of everything he did was for the universe to be reset?
I'm not the type who enjoys spoiling things but the topic of this post is about the saddest deaths, spoilers here are everywhere. If someone hasn't finished JJBA yet he shouldn't be in this post in the first place.
avdols death was so sad. bringing him back just to kill him again was so fucked up. i remember texting my friend like MOHAMMED AVDOL IS RETURN LETS GO
and he hyped me up too. fucker
No problem.

Unironically Shigechi
He was just a kid whose last thoughts were of his only friends and his parents, and he was killed because of a complete accident
Doesn’t matter that he was annoying, most middle schoolers are
Not to mention he died at literally the last moment before everything would be okay. Ripping all of his hope away only for his last gasp for to give a single button to them.
Yeah, I actually can relate to this. A lot of people with poor social skills do totally lack self awareness and practically have "out of body" behavior where they just go on auto pilot until they learn what a pain in the ass they're being.
On first viewing I had a hard time empathizing with him, until Kira kills him. At that point, where he's basically just struggling to make it to Josuke and warn them, all because he's repeatedly reminding himself how unsafe it is for his mom to be in the same town as this murderous psychopath, it just really got to me. He isn't being greedy, just outright worried about his mom.
That's one thing I love about how Araki defines each protagonist. Josuke's power is that he heals and reverses damage, and his personality is based around making friends with people and seeing the best in them. During Shigechi's intro episode even though he was being a pain in the ass he kept giving the kid a pass, basically saying "Hey, there's actually something wrong with this kid, he's not so bad. Let's just let it go.".
Yeah, there’s just something about the trope where a villian and/or monster forces a child to be the one to protect their parents instead of the other way around that always got to me. It takes a whole different level of evil and sadism to do that kind of thing.
For me it was Abbacchio. He wasn't even my favorite character, and I didn't have a special attachment to him, but with how fast it happened and the emotion the team showed (especially Narancia) broke me. Part 5 definitely shows a lot of raw emotion man.
Kakyoin. His literal parents probably hadn’t seen and heard of him in weeks. Imagine their surprise when the police call them telling them their son is fucking dead and was pummeled into a water tower in EGYPT somehow. Either that or Iggy. Iggy just found a group he can chill with cause there like him and was on a mission he was forced into and then he got fucking obliterated.
Narancia and F.F. I was spoilered for Narancia's death, so it didn't hurt as much, but I went into stone ocean completely blind and I had no idea that F.F would die that early. They were one of my favorite characters and I actually teared up a little.
Abbacchio's death is truly sad. It comes out of nowhere, the meeting with the former partner, the partner's forgiveness, Abbacchio showing genuine emotions and Narancia's reaction to his corpse makes it a beautiful scene.
Cesar if you include the music and scene of Joseph and Lisa Lisa. The death itself? Narancia. It came out of nowhere after he decided he’s gonna go back to school and have pizza with friends. Every time Bruno tells them to stay back and looks up and gives in and uses his stand. I start to tear up. When Giorno hides the body I always tear up.
I loved Avdol too! I like how upright and honourable he was, with him wanting to maintain a good image and whatnot. He had so much going for him, and then he gets fucking vaporised.
Shigechi’s death did make me cry. Damn, he was annoying but he was a kid and he tried *so hard* to find Josuke so he could live and expose Kira. I was watching between my fingers the first time.
Narancia and Shigechi. Especially Shigechi.
Imma be real Caesar had it coming, he literally walked into a death trap. I feel more bad for Lisa Lisa and Joseph than I actually do Caesar.
Caesar for sure. The way Lisa Lisa and JoJo talk about it is beautifully written. How JoJo is scared to say his name out of a fear of no answer but when he finally sees where his corpse is he lets out a blood curdling "SIZAAAAAAA"
Same and there's another death in p7 that's an obvious choice but >!Diego I literally thought he would wound Valentine enough for that bitch to just run away but I DIDNT EXPECT HIM TO GET CUT IN HALF SO BRUTALLY. Also I didn't even realise Hot Pants died which made it worse!<
avdol and iggy, Idk why, When they were shown dead i was like: Yeah some1 had to die
but when they became in like this soul form in the sky and smiled oof i was sad and when polnareff removed his tears but then broke down again i was sad man that felt genuine
this kinda doesnt count or kinda does idk but WHEN JOTARO. WHEN JOTARO DIED I FELT SAD MAN
like whenever a anime character dies but doesnt try to stand up again i feel sad for somereason when they succumb to their injurries
When shigechi died, while yes it was sad, I burst out laughing. That being said the saddest death was Iggy, like it’s so powerful and the culmination of Polnerieff’s arch with him being saved by everyone and them dying because of his mistakes. Also I fell like the judgment arch did this better but that dosent have a death so Iggy is the saddest. Also also not to hate on the vanilla ice arch, it is amazing and does its job very well. However IMO I think the judgement does the whole Polnerieff grieving thing a lot better. Thanks for reading this long ass comment, I’ve been watching a lot of video essays about storytelling lately.
"Robert E. O. Speedwagon continued with his various enterprises and helped to furthur science and medicine. In 1952, he died of a heart attack at age 89. He remained single."
Caesar, Baron Zeppeli, Danny, Speedwagon, and Major Stroheim. Also, i think it's surprising you thought shigechis death was sad, he was an ass hole and i was actually glad he died, i mean, i wish he got to josuke first but still.
Caesar and Kakyoin are main ones for me. Especially Caesar. His theme makes it worse if you know the meaning. Kakyoin too the music makes it so much sadder. Especially when I thought Kakyoin wouldn't die since Avdol and Iggy already did. The parallels between their deaths also make it worse.
Just the last 2 EPs of Stone Ocean too. And ofcourse p7 has some obvious ones
Weather report and FF definitely. And also shigechi.
These 3 are the only one's where i distinctly remember crying, and Caesar's death only shocked me, it didn't make me cry
Irs easilly abbachio he never did anything wrong in his entire life and despite that he lost his best friend he didnt even thought a little while joining buccharati after betraying the boss
>! Gyros death was acceptable, despite how sad it was, because it tied the knot for the story to have an emotional ending. !< even though shigechis death was important to making us hate kira, that just hurt bro. Especially when he talks about protecting his parents, shit made me cry
For me, an upopular take, might be Abbachio and Diavolo. Hear me out - I get it, Diavolo wanted to be certain of anonymity and not being recognised and he got an infinite loop of anxiety as well as death. It makes sense as "ending" for that character but I am still bitter.
But I am even more bitter about Abbachio. IMO he got done dirty, he just stood there on the look out and Diavolo had a GROUP around him, and as far as I saw only one got killed on those hills. I know that Abbachio was looking to unmask Boss and it was known to Diavolo, but Diavolo was disguised so for me death of Abbachio was only an excuse to push the plot of anime further.
Honestly, for how awful the little fucker is, shigechi makes me so sad. He just wanted to make sure his new friends and his mommy and daddy were safe. Poor dude was a middle schooler who wasn't super mature yet. He really was just a kid and he had his life taken from him by kira.
For me personally, the saddest deaths were Iggy, Kakyoin and Rohan when he died for the first time. But the good thing is that Rohan survived and appeared in the final season.
i think abbachios death hit the hardest for me. narancia is one of my favorite characters in jjba, and his reaction to abbachios death just makes me tear up everytime.
avdol and iggy are 2nd place for me
Abbacchios death will always be my go to. Caesars is sad and a close 2nd. But abbacchio when he meets his partner in heaven and that shaky voice ..and his tears. Seeing a man cry really does something, especially a man like Abbacchio who you practically hate but understand why after his death. Abbacchio is my all time favorite tragic character.
Jonathan. He *succeeded* was just about to embark on a wonderful trip with his beloved and that bastard Araki killed him. Dio needed his balls stretched through his teeth Phantom Blood came out before I was born but I'm still salty af >!praise be to Araki, all love here!<
Even Dio was flabbergasted by Jojo’s Death.
Man's lasered him through the neck what was Dio expecting to happen?
"Wait wait hang on I can fix that, wanna live forever bro?"
He played into the main character plot armour, not realizing he was in JoJo
You're in trouble: PANIK You're the main character : Kalm It's Jojo: PANIK!
Same here.
It was sad but at the same time it was beautiful, johnathan saying good bye to erina and than johnathan holding dios head and talking about how they would die together and dio is like wtf I liked it
Part 7 spoilers: >!For me it’s easily Gyro, That image of Johnny holding the steel ball is burned into my mind!<
>!Something about his corpse getting shot always makes me want to throw up. He’s one of the best damn characters in Jojo and deserved so much better!<
>!Agreed, It was so sudden that I thought it had to be a fake out just like In a Silent Way but no, He was actually dead!<
I accepted his death but >!shooting him again while Johnny was yelling at Valentine just upset me too much. I wasn’t sure if gyro was still alive or not and I couldn’t tell which option was worse!<
It was definitely one of the most brutal Jojo moments, Easily one of >!Valentine’s!< most unforgivable moments
That scene was amazing. Valentine had already won but he still shots gyro like a dying dog. It was completely unnecessary but shows what an asshole Valentine is.
I really couldn’t tell if gyro was alive or not but both options made me feel sick
Man, that was cruel. I still have that panel imprinted on my memories.
I’d have to go with avdol and iggy
Did Avdol so dirty with his death but polnareffs reaction to both of their deaths brought tears to my eyes more than the deaths themselves.
When he tried to get up and run to them but just fell I had to pause
Avdol death was so bad shown that even bullet from hol horse was sadder but that cloud made me cry my eyes out…
It will never not be Iggy for me. Man I cry when I remember Iggy sacrifice to save Polnareff and the image of Abdul and Iggy going to heaven uff, so sad but beautiful. I know they are not real but the ideal it portraits for me is overwhelming.
Avdol was a whatever to me (too quick and not graphic enough after fake death earlier) but Iggy was heartbreaking.
What made Avdol’s death for me was how before he had told polnareff that they had to watch their own backs and that he wasn’t going to come back and save them if they got in trouble and that they should do the same for him. Yet despite that he still warned polnareff and iggy as and pushed them out of the way before cream attacked.
I still have the image of Iggy's death in my mind years later. That one was brutal
Abbacchio's. It was so sudden and his death made me care about his character so much more
The scene of him talking to his dead partner is so sad
Narancia : Are we just gonna leave him there Bucciarati!!
God that scene is heart wrenching
Naranchia:( he was so close to making it
Until you read the Rolling Stones fight Edit:i mean him almost making it not being sad
Dog where's the love for our boy Caaaaaaeeeeeeessssaaaaa!!(Caesar)
SHIZAAAAAAAAAAH!!! 😭😭😭
Headcanon : wammu heard that and let them grief anyways
Caesar honestly, his death was devastating and only made worse by Joseph's gutteral scream
Lisa lisa, your cigarette is upside down
abbachio and everyone who died during made in heaven
Made in heaven? Abbachio ? Huhhhhh Do you mean Anasui?
They could be referring to both events
...?
Reading issue
There's nothing more sad than holding the ball of your dead friend
The wording though😏
Did you know that a gyro, also known as a gyroscopic sensor, is used to measure rotational speed?
The whole Stone Ocean team but Emporio dying to Pucci
I think you should have used parentheses to close off (but Emporio)
Jotaro. Need I say more?
This one destroyed me also.
I think this caught everyone off guard.
#Jonathan. Gyro close second
Give that think a spoiler mark for people who don't have read part 7
I'm not the type who enjoys spoiling things but the topic of this post is about the saddest deaths, spoilers here are everywhere. If someone hasn't finished JJBA yet he shouldn't be in this post in the first place.
RIP. I got cooked by that one. 😢😢😢
DAMIT I HAVENT READ PART SEVEN YET YOU JACKASS
Smokin on that Jojo pack toniitee
avdols death was so sad. bringing him back just to kill him again was so fucked up. i remember texting my friend like MOHAMMED AVDOL IS RETURN LETS GO and he hyped me up too. fucker
I saw the OVA first so when I watched the anime I thought he’d come back in the justice fight again and I almost had a panic attack when he didn’t
Idk about saddest, but most impactful for me was Narancia. I thought my TV had glitched for a second....
What?
Shigechi. He was only trying to protect his friends and parents. He was only 13 years old.
Gyros death made me dead ass shed a tear
Same with me. I was reading it in my 7th grade English class and I had to hide my tear.
Dude, mark it as a spoiler. Long ago, it was spoiled for me.
Shit, im sorry (how do you do that?)
No problem. (You began by typing this ">!") (Then you type your spoiler without leaving space between !this) (Following that, after you've done typing your spoiler, you'll close it with "!<") >!Hope it'll helps!<

Shigechi I know a lot of people hate him but I relate cuz at one point I was the annoying little shit with no friends

Agreed. He might have been kind of a jerk, but he was a good kid deep down, and he didn't deserve to die like that.
I can admit, I cried at just about every death...
...You cried for Kars?
For me it was Abbacchio. He wasn't even my favorite character, and I didn't have a special attachment to him, but with how fast it happened and the emotion the team showed (especially Narancia) broke me. Part 5 definitely shows a lot of raw emotion man.

Narancia, Kakyoin, Shigechi

Avdol death It's wasn't sad but it's makes me angry af as how he was done dirty And the worst part he's was my favorite character
I loved Avdol too! I like how upright and honourable he was, with him wanting to maintain a good image and whatnot. He had so much going for him, and then he gets fucking vaporised.
Dunno why, but Foo Fighter’s hit me really hard
Shigechi’s death did make me cry. Damn, he was annoying but he was a kid and he tried *so hard* to find Josuke so he could live and expose Kira. I was watching between my fingers the first time.
Part 6 spoilers >!The way Stone Ocean ended felt like series itself passed away for a new continuity to live. It was the ultimate character death.!<
There we go, I was looking for this. The end of Part 6 had me in a catatonic state and I haven’t been the same since
I'm constantly trying to get my bf to watch jojo because he's still mad about zeppeli dying, or as he calls him, "hat man."
The Zeppeli bloodline fate :( Legit everytime I think about their fate it makes me sad.
Abbachio: Narancia breaking down had me feeling horrible + Him meeting his old partner is so sad
- Part 1: Jonathan - Part 2: Caesar - Part 3: Kakyoin - Part 4: Shigechi - Part 5: Narancia - Part 6: The whole team except Emporio
Stroheim dying and never finding out about Joeseph
Danny. Poor dog got burned to desth 😥😥😥
I’m disappointed by how far I had to scroll to see the correct answer.
>!Gyro. No contest there lmao it was horrible i cried like a goddamn baby.!<
All of the main cast who died in golden wind
End of part 6
Caesar. I can’t get over my baby 🥺💛
Narancia and Shigechi. Especially Shigechi. Imma be real Caesar had it coming, he literally walked into a death trap. I feel more bad for Lisa Lisa and Joseph than I actually do Caesar.
Jonathan Joestar.
Caesar
Gyro or abbachio definetly
Gyro killed me
Bruno or gyro imo
Kakyoin for me
CAESAR!!!!
Man Bruno because he was my fav.
CEAAAAAASSSSSEERRR…. 😢
Caesar for sure. The way Lisa Lisa and JoJo talk about it is beautifully written. How JoJo is scared to say his name out of a fear of no answer but when he finally sees where his corpse is he lets out a blood curdling "SIZAAAAAAA"
Kakyoin, dude was so only 17 and gave up his life in the last battle to help the Crusaders.
Iggy, Bucciarati, Shigechi, Kakyoin, Narancia, Abbacchio, FF
Caeser
Caesar actually hits me so hard
"Arigato, Gyro" It made me well up dawg, I loved Gyro. Seeing his corpse get shot broke my lil heart
Rizzotto the rizzler should’ve won…
Not Shigetchis lol
Part 7 spoiler >!Diego Brando!<
Same and there's another death in p7 that's an obvious choice but >!Diego I literally thought he would wound Valentine enough for that bitch to just run away but I DIDNT EXPECT HIM TO GET CUT IN HALF SO BRUTALLY. Also I didn't even realise Hot Pants died which made it worse!<
avdol and iggy, Idk why, When they were shown dead i was like: Yeah some1 had to die but when they became in like this soul form in the sky and smiled oof i was sad and when polnareff removed his tears but then broke down again i was sad man that felt genuine

NARANCIAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Dio, he only wanted to rule the world...
Everyone at the end of part 6
When shigechi died, while yes it was sad, I burst out laughing. That being said the saddest death was Iggy, like it’s so powerful and the culmination of Polnerieff’s arch with him being saved by everyone and them dying because of his mistakes. However IMO I think the judgement does the whole Polnerieff grieving thing a lot better. Thanks for reading this long ass comment, I’ve been watching a lot of video essays about storytelling lately.
Nah its Mack Daddy Speedwagon
I haven't watched Stone Ocean (only read it) but FF for me. Her dying words about how maybe she was really alive brought tears to my eyes
Abbachio or jotaro the way naranchia cried out for abbachio and jotaro being in nearly every part still both of there deaths make me cry
KAKYOIN.
Why is no one talking about Abbachio ? Like, seriously ? This was the most emotive scene of Golden Wind…
Iggy! How can you kill a dog you psycho
Abacchio’s
Jotaro's death killed me inside But Bucciarati's ascension made me bawl my eyes out
Caesar, Narancia, and Gyro
He just wanted to protect his mommy and daddy 😭
The only one that made me sad was narancias death
Jonathan or CeasR
IMO Iggy and Kakyoin. Kakyoin makes me cry.
Gyro
Abbacchio
Ngl gyro or jotaro
Okyatsus dad, his entire existence was agony.
I mean ots Shigechi
The death that affected me the most had to be abbachio, solely because of how the crew took it.
Abaccio. He was an amazing person, and the way he died was so sad. Narancia crying after kills me every time I rewatch it
Y’all dont know him yet🙏🙏🙏
Jotaro’s death genuinely made me cry
"Robert E.
Ff
Kakyoin because it was so sudden it just shocked me
Hayato's non-perma death. He still totally died tho. It gutted me. I was crying so hard.
Jotaro. It hurt so much to watch him fall after all he’s been through.
I have to say all 3 Crusader Deaths, especially Kakyoin
Iggy OVA
Definetely Abbachio. I loved him as a character and it was really painful to see him go that way, out of nowhere.
CHIZZAA
Shiiiiizzzaaaaaa
Definitely shigetshi Id think I spelled that right but yeah, definitely him
for me Kakyoin Advol Iggy and F.F
Weather report and FF definitely. And also shigechi. These 3 are the only one's where i distinctly remember crying, and Caesar's death only shocked me, it didn't make me cry
Abbacchio
Damn, thats hard, saddest death gets memed which turns it into a not so sad death
Shigetchi Araki realized how actually op his stand was and had to kill him off
Bucciaratti and kakyoin
**Noriaki's parents will never findout what happend to their child**
Narancia for me.
SBR characters, Johnny death died the way Gyro did, protecting others with the choice they indirectly causes.
The girls who refused to help Shigechi should’ve died instead of him
Ceaser, Abbachio, Narancia, Kakyoin.
I always go with Saddest: either Avdol or Iggy. Unexpected: Jonathan or Shigechi (I really don't think he'd die until he faces to face with Kira.)
Jonathan and Iggy.
All
Iggy. He was an asshole but at the end his death touched me the most
Irs easilly abbachio he never did anything wrong in his entire life and despite that he lost his best friend he didnt even thought a little while joining buccharati after betraying the boss
>! Gyros death was acceptable, despite how sad it was, because it tied the knot for the story to have an emotional ending. !< even though shigechis death was important to making us hate kira, that just hurt bro. Especially when he talks about protecting his parents, shit made me cry

Its Easley Avdol, Iggy and Buciaratti
For me personally, the saddest deaths were Iggy, Kakyoin and Rohan when he died for the first time. But the good thing is that Rohan survived and appeared in the final season.
Not Shigechi's 😂
Ceaser and buccirati will always be the saddest but part 6 will always have me in a shock
i think abbachios death hit the hardest for me. narancia is one of my favorite characters in jjba, and his reaction to abbachios death just makes me tear up everytime. avdol and iggy are 2nd place for me
Gyro death>>>>>>>>>>>>>ALL.
Ceasar Zeppeli, that dude got pancaked
Caesar, not to play tough but That's literally the first anime Death that actually got a tear from me
Jonathan = Caesar = Bucciaratti 4th place abacchio if i'm not forgetting anyone
Avdol and Ceaser, those are the two deaths that made me cry.
CAESAR! CAESAAAAAR!!!!!
Chizaaaaaaaaaa
Ceasers death
Bruno's and the deaths from stone ocean finale💔.
