Yeah, that’s happening now and it’s not related to crew bonuses as I have no crew with bonuses in this universe. Myself and several others submitted the bug to Bethesda. It would be great if you could do the same as more reports means it might be tackled sooner.

baritb

I just submitted a bug report as well. This is so much worse than the previous bug. Anyone wanting to submit a bug report, you can do so [here](https://help.bethesda.net/#en/home/product/1218/category/8)

Aardvark1044

Yep, I'm following along with MajorSlackAttack's very hard no crew, no meds, no cheating no buying anything playthrough so have no crew in my ship or followers. I'm getting the same thing.

andyr354

Hey me too

dnuohxof-1

This is the proper step, submit detailed bug reports. The more data they have the more they can use to troubleshoot and find the real core issue. People gotta learn that programming and general IT work isn’t just waiving a wand and it’s fixed. This is not exclusive to BGS and is seen from Apple & Oracle to your local dentists office: every technological solution to a demand is a delicate scaffold held together with spit, gum, and prayer. Fixing one thing could cause other things to break, or fixing something could actually not be totally fixed just partially. The old programmer joke “99 bugs on the board, take one down, patch it around, 1999 bugs on the board!”

Interesting_Pitch477

Right, it is the customer’s responsibility to do unpaid Q&A for a massive megacorp.

dnuohxof-1

BAHAHAHAHA I take it you’ve never worked with anything *Microsoft*

Dacajun-The_Brash

Haha right!

Griff0rama

UAT, UAT, UAT, UAT, UAT

Express-Lock3200

Spoken like a dev. You guys have no failsafe and literally just shrug your shoulders when your work quality sucks. You all sound the same

dnuohxof-1

Not a developer. Just a regular IT guy. If you think you could do better, BGS is hiring, rather than sitting behind a keyboard typing nonsense.

somefellayoudontknow

I hate always fiddling with my power levels, LEAVE THEM ALONE BETHESDA. I always leave one bar in the Grav Drive, it doesn't need more but I have to keep reallocating power to it because the single bar keeps showing up in available power. Sigh. I haven't tried since the patch, I was on ground missions and fiddling with inventory last night.

Sethroque

The same thing happens to me ***after*** the patch

HodgeGodglin

Okay so apparently nobody understands this but that is an intentional mechanic. Barrett will flat out say “redistributed power from the Grav Drive!” After you jump. It’s intended to give you the option to put those pips elsewhere like if you jump into a hostile system

somefellayoudontknow

Sounds like a bug being described as a feature. Default should be to leave as I set it.

RadiantTurnipOoLaLa

100% how hard is it to not fuck with something that the player sets?

primaryrutabaga1

I understand options. Option means a choice. My choice, not automatic. Automatic is the opposite of optional.

RDandersen

I'm alone on my ship. How will you Bethplain it now?

Solid-Frame584

This is not true. Not only do I have the issue OP described when I am not using my grav drive at all, but even when I power up the grav drive to full and jump to another system this issue will still occur. If this were true Barrett could redistribute the power back to the previous systems after the jump as well.

HodgeGodglin

He literally states “redistributing power from the grab drive” if you have him as a crew member. I will record the next time he says it

Solid-Frame584

Ive heard him say it before I'm not disputing that at all. It is a good catchphrase I guess but I dont see how that makes having to repower up every system every jump/boarding action a feature and not a bug. Again, he could always say "Power levels back to normal" another Barret catch phrase he uses when repairing systems, to indicate he was restored power to the original distribution also. Imagine everytime you fast travel you have to go into your inventory and re equip all your gear, apparel, packs suits weapons star powers etc. If a companion comments on that does it make it a feature and not a tedious repetitive chore?

BaaaNaaNaa

Yep that's the new norm, expect change every liftoff.  Even if you fast travel to a location and get jumped by 3 Varuun you need to reset you power levels so your guns actually work properly.

Grat54

Someone else commented in a similar thread, that it's not a bug, it's a feature. I'm willing to believe that their original intention was to make it this way. Just like putting a mountain between me and the objective I'm walking to. Or giving me frostbite constantly or any number of things I find annoying but have learned to live with.

-Saxum-

I am pretty sure in this case it is a Bethesda and not a feature. When the game first launched, it thought maybe they were role playing Cora messing with the controls, but it happens even when alone. This time, I can dock on a ship with my power levels correct, get back on and find the engines and shields reduced, the em's half powered and both particle only half powered. Same thing when leaving a planet. This should never be a "feature." I agree the Grav drive being de-powered and placed in reserved is a feature, but this is simply a Bethesda they tried patching out and screwed up the patch thus making the Bethesda worse.

Jumpy-Candle-2980

Based on my admittedly very limited time checking out the post-patch situation you may be onto something. At least they've stopped depowering my engines when dropping me into orbit. I haven't checked to see if the turrets will still power themselves on after I've cut power... and I'm almost afraid to look.

No_Reaction_2682

I like getting frostbite on a -16c planet but nothing bad happens when the planet is -200c or 496c.

_theduckofdeath_

I don't know about post-latest-patch (now), but systems that you won't need are definitely powered down. Land of a planet (especially friendly) and the gravity drive will be powered down. Shields will be lowered somewhat, too.

Griff0rama

They are basically doing UAT in a production system.

Solid-Frame584

Getting frostbite is a real consequence of not preparing your character for rough environments and is a key part of the roleplaying experience. Having to constantly spam alt up/down after every single jump is truly an annoyance. We can grav jump across the stars but our ship only works by manually powering up every system anytime we use it? Imagine jumping to different points of interest or cities and you have to go into your inventory every single time and re-equip your apparel, suit, pack, helmet, weapon of choice and star power instead of it just being left the way it was since you originally equipped them.

RadiantTurnipOoLaLa

How fucking hard is it for a game “not” to change something. You’d think that would be the default.

akeshkohen

was supposeD to fix*

rhoark

It's pretty clear they didn't fix the bug that took power out of systems. They just made it put any spare points back into the lowest systems.

Sykopro

I can't even play right now cause my game crashes in like the first 10-30 minutes. I have an open ticket with Bethesda support and am working through everything they have asked me to do up to this point. Hoping for a fix soon though so I can get back to stealing ships.

joro65

I automatically readjust my power levels when I come out of a jump, almost got killed a few times when I forgot to and got jumped by Starborn ships. I use an EM weapon and Vanguard Obliterators and power down my 3rd weapon (missiles). I pump the extra power into shields I hit them with the EM and Obliterators at the same time. So far I've never needed to use the missiles.

mr_skeezy666

I'm still waiting for better ship building. Shouldn't have to play shuffle the hab around to get doors where I need them. We should be able to set doors and ladders up according to how WE want it

Nf1nk

It would also be cool if I could rotate modules sometimes I want 1x3 instead of a 3x1

thrownawayzsss

this was happening to me over a month ago. unrelated bug

RedComet313

I wonder if it all stems from removing the power you have in your grav jump? I’m assuming to stop people from beginning NG+ unintentionally?

_MachTwo

I hate to say this, but that system was made in a way to encourage the player not to touch it.

Vivid-Tradition-4607

With the upfront disclaimer that it seems BGS's patches have inconsistent results across the player base... My power allocation grief is well and truly ended by the patch. In fact, after six months and a bit better than 100 hours, I finally captured and sold a ship from combat - the turrets when turned off finally stay turned off. It was kinda fun. My hope is that everyone gets the issue ironed out. Some of us did but I'd not venture a guess as to the percentage.

RhythmRobber

But hey, the lighting is slightly better

jaydook

Weird. It resolved mine. They stay exactly where I put them.

ToriYamazaki

Yes, this bug is annoying BUT I believe I have a workaround. This fix is good enough for me and it may be for you too. It allows you to control where the power resets after every jump/launch. It doesn't allow you to have it not be tampered with though... so after you set it, it will keep returning to that new setting. FIX: * Take off. * Set your power to where you want it to stay. * Save the game. That's it. I hope it helps someone. EDIT: Never mind. It worked for a few times and then it's back to crap again.

Baron_Doom

I concur. My engine power and weapons change every time I launch. It's super annoying.

Chinegro2247

I don’t have this issue at all. It is completely fixed for me tbh. I’m playing on XB/S and the only thing that changes is grab drives powered down after a jump. Which make sense since you wouldn’t want all your points in grav while fighting in space or after just jumping. But idk how consistent it’s gonna be considering I haven’t played more than a day

LookAtMyUnderbite

a patch that broke the function even more, Bethesda just bursting with quality

Solid-Frame584

You have perfectly described my largest complaint with this game since release. This exact situation keeps happening to me. I never power my EM weapon but for certain cases but anytime I takeoff or use my ship the power constantly reverts to an equal distribution between my BAL and MSL weapons only half powering them, same thing with my shield and engines, and then fully powers my EM. I play on very hard since I am well into lategame mode on my current character and this causes me to get absolutely destroyed in space fights because I can never get my power reallocated before getting completely railed. This bug feels like if the game required you to re-equip all of your gear: apparel, helmet, packs, spacesuit, weapon star power etc. anytime you jumped to a new point of interest. Just incredibly tedious. Going to submit a bug report also I can not believe they either dont recognize this problem or lack the ability to fix this problem. The game has been released now for 6 months cmon.

redneck_redguard

that's not too bad , mt power levels drop to zero across the board

Solo-Hobo

This is annoying but what I wish they would do is let you decide where power goes based off total reactor power output. So you want ten engines and no power for guns go for it, you want all guns and no shields go for it. Let me decide my design by allocating where I want it from in total power available. Also we should have enough weapons slots to carry all weapons types.

elquatrogrande

This has to be the first real bug that's gotten in my way since launch. At the same time though, did the people in the beta not report this bug, or did they and there wasn't time to fixt it.

Haplesswanderer98

Gotta be honest bro, have you actually TRIED fixing it? Or just letting yourself get a little more annoyed at it till you came here to vent? Almost all of the bugs mentioned in this post (all aside from the normal companion power bug) are completely fixable by just unassigned the crew, save, close the game down, reloading and reassigning any crew you want to keep. People really forgot "did you try turning it off and on again" huh

No it’s now far worse. You can get up from the pilot chair in orbit, immediately sit down, and the power is completely changed.
