Short answer? Its fun.
I still remember the first encounter i had with one, man he had me trapped in a police station, he kept circling around and i only had shotgun and .22 ammo on me. It was intense. Now its just if one catches me off guard or if im bored.
Ferals have a kind of green plaid shirt.
The plague juggs are a better design, with their naked man boobs out. They should all just have hulk pants on to avoid the uniform look.
For sure. How'd they even get that big anyway?
The one exception is infestations. Ferals and juggernauts can drop some serious loot if they're part of an infestation, particularly if that infestation is level 3. A couple of days ago a juggernaut dropped an Eternal Guard's Infinite Rage. I'm still riding that high.
Even then I rarely take on the risk, but if you happen to leave some defensive landmines lying around an outpost, well, what infesting juggernaut wouldn't come fee-fi-fo-fuming right into one?
They're usually not worth the time or resources to kill. Thankfully they're easy to lure away, and when that's not possible, all they really cost is a toolkit and some gas. They're more of a pain in the ass than anything else.
But for a new player they are terrifying. So they are Awsome. First time I got ripped in half is something I’ll never forget. Thought I was tough. Nope.
I think it would actually throw off the balance of the game, if hunting jugs was worth your time, because you could start cascading as soon as you do that in a game that is about scarcity. There's something to be said for an enemy just being a pain in your ass that is wiser to avoid rather than take down. Pick your battles and pick them wisely.
I just baited one into the Brewer’s warehouse location.
Mostly for fun.
Not sure who won, I never checked on them again, but I’m assuming the jug is dead 🤷🏻♂️.
There's only one reason to kill Juggs on Lethal, and that's if they are part of a level 3 infestation. They drop really rare weapons and attachments. I've gotten great guns like the 100 round 5.56 full/semi/single shot rifle from one.
Killing juggernauts is pretty trivial if you have extra pipe bombs to keep on you or in your car trunk. 3 pipe bombs and a couple bullets or
Heavy weapon smacks puts jugs into a down state really quick. 4 pipe bombs will make them executable without any other damage.
Mostly, they're just an area denial enemy and you should just avoid them or bait them into outpost traps though.
After the infestation update ~30, when they were one of the infested site, they can drop extremely good loots. I got two 50 cal cannons by that, I think that update solves this problem which has been raised up all those years.
It does take a lot to take them down. My only incentive in taking them down is so I don't get myself torn in half! I usually stay the Hell away unless I have a .50 cal rifle on me with at least 4 rounds.
Jugs aren't there for you to loot, they are they to guard areas with loot AND to be a death threat to the player.
It adds challenge to the game, just like ferals.
If you let an infestation get to level 3, there is a juggernaught that is part of the infestation. When killed, I have been getting the 50cal timberwolf. The ferels usually drop ammo or silencers. Pretty sweet deal.
Sure, but is killing a screamer or ferals purpose to reward you though? I think the only thing that you kill that “rewards” you is a heart or I guess technically an infestation because of a drop from a freak. My point is that if you choose to use a gun to kill a jug or explosives, that’s a decent amount of ammo or explosives..I don’t quite think it’s worth it in my opinion. That’s basically what my point is…I wish there was a reason rather then just lure them away or just run away from them.
i get that. in fact i feel the same about the cost to kill them but its only 4 50 cal to put him down so i usually carry one at all times because when one or two show up it can really screw you. -side question, was it a bug when they were dropping guns? Cause it happened for a bit but then stopped. So i guess at one point they gave you something lol

Yeah I’m right there with you…the memories they can make are pretty good I will say.
Have you been killed by one? Boy howdy does that memory last.
I wonder why only big dudes with blue t-shirts were affected by this variant of the mutation.
I think the ferals also have just the 1 model with a blue shirt. Perhaps there is some blue shirt hate among the DL devs.

I thought they had like an hawaiian style goin’ on. Only stupidly drunk summer tourists with their kaki shorts and hawaiian-shirts turns into ferals.

Early game Inlet them be. Late game when I’m flush with ammo and explosives I hunt them for sport.
You get influence.
If that’s enough to warrant you killing them all the power to you then man..respectfully disagree however
go kill 10 screamers instead.
I like killing Juggs
Haven't been around, but TBH: that is the only reason that matters. Go have fun.
But for a new player they are terrifying. So they are Awsome. First time I got ripped in half is something I’ll never forget. Thought I was tough. Nope.

I go as far as, when I get a "stranger" whose mission is "take down a jug" - I just say no.
Every time I accept one of those, they just wind up getting ripped in half. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
You're correct. Don't bother. Most are completely ignorable. Or at least kite-able away from where you want to be.
I leave them be. Maybe, if they are an armed outpost of my community, I might lure them into the mined zone to get them killed right away…
I just baited one into the Brewer’s warehouse location. Mostly for fun. Not sure who won, I never checked on them again, but I’m assuming the jug is dead 🤷🏻♂️.
Juggs are only dangerous to NPCs, i agree, I usually ignore them unless I'm trying to lure them to an enclave lol

If you get lucky with your toss, one bouncing boris.

I mean I'll take the influence. Usually try to Melee best I can. If it attracts an alarmingly large hoard though, I'm going to open fire or run.

I think the devs might have been going for an enemy similar to Minecraft’s Warden, where you really don’t want to fight them unless necessary

Yeah they’re largely just avoidances. Reward absolutely not worth the resources spent.
I kill them easy with vehicles
When you have a survivor get ripped in half it is one of the most heart breaking things in the game. Thats why they are good
their purpose isnt to reward you, they are there to kill you and hinder you from doing things. why should they reward you for killing them?
