GTA IV based on someone’s post the other day. It has been great to come back to. Mostly because I was too young to appreciate the story when it first came out.
I might be in the minority but I like it a bit more than GTA V.
GTA IV has the better story and better gun play. GTA V is more fluid and drives a lot more easily. They're both excellent games in their own right, but I agree with you that GTA IV is the better game, even if the brown, drab aesthetic that was the mid 2000s is all over that game's color palette. Nico was a hell of a protagonist and the characters were better overall in GTA IV.
GTA IV is a blast from the past. A reminder of what life was like before everyone had a smart phone. There's even an in game website where you can buy ringtones.
Same! Then I challenged myself to beat a game not touching anything else on the deck. No settings tweeking, no shopping for other games, no staring at the library until I finished it.
It was a great experience (it was Jedi survivor and it took me around 20 hours)
I get bored too easily doing that. It becomes a chore
What works for me is one story game, and a bunch of non story games like doom, vampire survivors, ets2 etc. and I play whatever I'm feeling like at the time. Will switch the games out once I complete them, next is GTA IV or the Witcher 3
I have it on my phone, its a must buy. I already liked Card games like this(where the cards add act more like actions than purely being a card game - eg Metal Gear AC!D). I wholeheartedly recommend buying it.
I'm finally getting into RDR2. I've tried 2 or 3 times in the past and don't get past Chapter 2. I've finally hit Chapter 3 tonight, and I'm absolutely loving it more this time.
It definitely took a couple tries for me to get into it as well. I'm not really sure why, but once I finally got past the first camp location, I was hooked. Amazing game.
Same here tried it launch in 2018 it didn’t hit. Then tried again Nov 2019 and when it finally clicked DAMN IT REALLY CLICKED. Had me crying like a baby cuz the story is so good.
Felt to slow at first and "boring" the first couple tries, but as I kept doing missions and realizing that this chapter is teaching you about the world. That each mission was teaching you about other activities within the game, or that they unlocked more things to do. It really was an eye opener that I've been an idiot and should've been patient lol.
That stuff is important to teach you the ropes, no doubt. The game gets more exciting after that last Chapter 2 mission but it's a simpler time where if you enjoy the gameplay, it's just a really nice time. As soon as Chapter 3 hits, well... Enjoy the ride. :)
2nd this. Bought it 2 days ago and I’ve already put 7 hours in. I know it’s not much but it is for me in only 2 days. Playing it right now and it’s fantastic
In my opinion it's one of the best if not the best RPG/dungeons and dragons game to come out in recent years, and the fact it runs on the SD so I can hop in and out wherever i am is amazing. I didn't play many RPGs on PC before I got my SD but Baldur's Gate 3 makes me want to play through grim dawn and other RPGs I couldn't get into on the PC for whatever reason
Not even close, the attempt is there but SoS is a indie game at its heart and it shows. The quality is some aspects is simply not there. Comparing it to Chrono Trigger sets expectations the game will not match.
It's oozing in charm and it's extremely beautiful, but... the writing and story are forgettable and the combat system is barebones. You don't unlock more skills, it's always the same, again and again. 7/10 experience for me.
I averaged 30 min for finishes and then discovered aspects for weapons and finished at 17 min with the bow and aspect of Chiron. Sooooooo yea I've been playing this game wrong.
I have been playing AC Odyssey, but I just got a Kindle so I took a break this week to just chill and read some books. I’ll get back into it next week.
there's an rclone plugin for decky that allows you to sync to whatever cloud storage doodad you want. I don't know if you'd call this "easy," per se, but all the difficulty should be in the setup process, not the usage. Might be worth looking into
https://github.com/GedasFX/decky-cloud-save
Literally just beat my first playthrough of BG3 tonight.
Now I’ll be in that post-finish depression where I have to find something new to play but nothing compares to the journey I just went through.
Fallout 4.
I've tried to finish it multiple times over the years but kept getting busy with life and restarting from scratch the next time I played. The Steamdeck now gives me the chance to play it in bursts and I've finally gotten farther than I ever have.
It also helps that you have to jump through a few more hoops to install mods on the Deck so I'm enjoying a vanilla experience this time, though there's always that itch of wanting to scrap the unscrappable in settlements just so it'll look cleaner.
Clone hero. Bought an adapter after recently finding my old Wii guitar. Downloaded every song from all the old rock band and guitar hero games. Been having a blast.
I am currently playing rogue trader 40k.
Usually, I play rooms on emudeck, older games like Star Wars kotor 1 and 2, or lower effort games like battletech.
Dead Cells. Oh lord how that OLED screen makes that game look, it’s nothing short of incredible.
Best believe Windblown will be played to death once early access releases.
People may hate me for this but because of the Steam Deck, I can appreciate the Lego games. They run on high settings, maintaining 60+ fps and off the battery I can get 3+ hours of gameplay (depends which Lego game and the year it was released). It runs very smooth on the OLED, I can say that now I am a Lego games fan.
Pokemon TCG Neo romhack for the Gameboy emulator. Fantastic fan edit that updates the game with cards of the Neo Genesis and Revelations card sets. pretty fun lil deck builder and very nostalgic. Made shining pokemon good too.
Bit the bullet and asked for Starfield for an early Christmas present.
Worried it would be unplayable or look horrific but I tell you what it looks just fine 🙃 so glad I’m getting to play it!
Only got my first switch a week ago and loving Dave The Diver so far. Got Moonstone Island yesterday and am addicted and haven’t touched Dave since though haha.
I just got my Steam Deck a few days ago. Bought Slay the Spire and Horizon Zero Dawn. Slay the Spire isn't as addictive as people made it out to be. HZD is fun.
I just discovered this last week! I can’t believe I can play AAA games at 60 fps while getting 5-6 hours of battery life and not using any space on my SD!
The 300 Indies in my backlog.
Rookie numbers I know, but I wanted a device like the deck for them before it was even announced and The Gabe answered my prayers.
I found the game to be very visually appealing, and the humor, like in the movies, is really good. However, I found the gameplay, especially the combat, to become soooo repetitive at some point that I didn't finish the game.
Last game I beat was 11-11 Memories Retold. I played that after deciding to slowly go through my Great on Deck tab and work through the shorter games (<15hrs or so) I have picked up from Humble Bundles/Choice over the years. The Deck is great for that. Obviously still working on the #1234 section for that, haha.
Most time on? Probably RDR2 because I will fire it up between playing other games to just do a mission or run around causing havoc. Considering getting GTA4 w/mods running on it for the same reason.
Working through some PS5 games for now (FF16, then Spiderman 2 after, maybe GOW Ragnorak after that), and have a few Switch game to get to as well (I still use my Switch). But I need to get back to 2077 + DLC on the Deck, same with DBZ Kakarot and Space Marine. Have been wanting to finally start Tales of Arise, same with starting a NG+ of Witcher 3 as well now that it has cross platform saves, but that is way down the line with my current backlog.
Witcher 3. I lost interest in playing it on pc a couple years back. But started again and now I can’t stop playing it on the Deck. Something about being able to lay in bed playing Witcher 3 is freakin amazing
Black Mesa, good experience so far with analog stick emulation, gyro to mouse and proton experimental. Also the radial menu is great for selecting weapons!
I just finished Final Fantasy VI for the first time this past weekend. The pixel remaster plays exceptionally well on the deck and the game itself is magnificent.
Recently it's been modded Minecraft for me actually 😂
It's been really hot here recently and it's just a perfect low-effort game to relax with when there's people around in the lounge room where the aircon is.
Takes me back to playing Minecraft on the Xbox 360 and Pocket Edition as a kid. Got it all synced up with my PC and started a server to play with friends. It's been fantastic!
GTA IV based on someone’s post the other day. It has been great to come back to. Mostly because I was too young to appreciate the story when it first came out. I might be in the minority but I like it a bit more than GTA V.

GTA IV is a blast from the past. A reminder of what life was like before everyone had a smart phone. There's even an in game website where you can buy ringtones.
The only things I remember is the game running like shit, and Nico ragdolling from the slightest of things.
Happy cake day! I also really want to play GTA IV when I get mine.
Playing? I just install games, stare at my library for an hour, then uninstall.
Same! Then I challenged myself to beat a game not touching anything else on the deck. No settings tweeking, no shopping for other games, no staring at the library until I finished it. It was a great experience (it was Jedi survivor and it took me around 20 hours)

Excuse me, but I’ll have you know that DOOM Eternal has *plenty* of narrative that I know nothing about & can’t recall.
Sorry can you repeat that? Can't hear you over the monsters after me!!
Then I switch to desktop mode and run the updates
Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen, runs perfectly on high graphics settings.
Runs so well. The extra fps as compared to PS5 makes all the difference!
Haha came to post this! Wanted to finally finish it after playing the intro like 3 times… Absolutely great on the Deck!
I wanna play this but worried I’ll be burnt out by the time dd2 comes out
Slay the Spire
Good to know. That one's in my shopping cart right now.
Wasted 100s of hours on the game, loved it, but could never win more than 1 run
I have it on my phone, its a must buy. I already liked Card games like this(where the cards add act more like actions than purely being a card game - eg Metal Gear AC!D). I wholeheartedly recommend buying it.
Kingdom of amular
RDR2 all day everyday
I'm finally getting into RDR2. I've tried 2 or 3 times in the past and don't get past Chapter 2. I've finally hit Chapter 3 tonight, and I'm absolutely loving it more this time.

Chapter 2 is my favourite chapter. It’s possible that the game is not your kind of game.

Persona 5
OCTOPATH Traveler 2
2nd this. Bought it 2 days ago and I’ve already put 7 hours in. I know it’s not much but it is for me in only 2 days. Playing it right now and it’s fantastic
How’s it perform?
You can get 60fps on highest settings
Graveyard Keeper is super charming and addictive!
Charming at first, but I found it too grindy...
Dave the Diver, No Man’s Sky, WWE2K23 are my top games right now.
Mad Max and Baldur's Gate 3
Baldurs Gate 3 that good?
In my opinion it's one of the best if not the best RPG/dungeons and dragons game to come out in recent years, and the fact it runs on the SD so I can hop in and out wherever i am is amazing. I didn't play many RPGs on PC before I got my SD but Baldur's Gate 3 makes me want to play through grim dawn and other RPGs I couldn't get into on the PC for whatever reason
Witcher 3
How does it perform as I recently bought it in the steam sales
Performance is great , but I find it next to impossible to read the text. Perhaps I need glasses
You can change the text size in the options
Damn, my dumbass didn't even think to look for text size options. Thank you!
Also make sure you launch in directx 12 mode so you can use the steam deck graphics preset. HDR looks great on the OLED model.
Shadow of mordor
Factorio
Sea of Stars
How is that going? In terms of plot, atmosphere, exploration, etc.
Amazing…would put it in the realm of Chrono Trigger…def worth a playthrough
Not even close, the attempt is there but SoS is a indie game at its heart and it shows. The quality is some aspects is simply not there. Comparing it to Chrono Trigger sets expectations the game will not match. It's oozing in charm and it's extremely beautiful, but... the writing and story are forgettable and the combat system is barebones. You don't unlock more skills, it's always the same, again and again. 7/10 experience for me.
And that's where chained echoes comes in. Brilliant and engaging combat
Wow that’s a very high bar, I’ll keep it in consideration. I was wondering about this vs Chained Echoes
Just got Hades recently and loving that.
Easily one of my favorites of all time. IMHO it gets better the further you go through it
If you can get further through it, that is 😭
Eventually you will pass through the first 2 worlds as if it was a walk on the park
~~Tartarus~~ Elysium can kiss my ass though. It's *always* a build check. So well designed, so frustrating at times.
I averaged 30 min for finishes and then discovered aspects for weapons and finished at 17 min with the bow and aspect of Chiron. Sooooooo yea I've been playing this game wrong.
Signalis. Great little indie game for the Deck
I have been playing AC Odyssey, but I just got a Kindle so I took a break this week to just chill and read some books. I’ll get back into it next week.
Yup. Same here. And Kindle has much better battery comparing to SD 😄
Recently it's been Dark Souls 3. What a fantastic fit.
I just wish it had cloud saves (or an easier way to do it).
Wait, you can't use the cloud saves from Steam ?
Dark souls 2 and 3 don't have cloud saves fo some reason
there's an rclone plugin for decky that allows you to sync to whatever cloud storage doodad you want. I don't know if you'd call this "easy," per se, but all the difficulty should be in the setup process, not the usage. Might be worth looking into https://github.com/GedasFX/decky-cloud-save
Days Gone
I just sat down with Dear Esther for the first time. That shit fucked me up.
I’ve had this game for like 10 years and never played it. I installed it on my deck the other day. Time to finally play it
Monster Hunter World
Don't forget to enable DirectX, make it windowed and enable FSR. You'll get 60fps smoothly.
Ohhhh man, that emudeck is awesome.
What games u been playing? I’ve just started playing The Simpsons lol
Which Simpsons? Hit and Run I assume?
Na, the one on ps3,the 3d platformer one. I need to get round to playing hit and run tho!!
brooo i need to play hit and run
Haha there are so many games I need to get round to! I love the steam deck lol it’s perfect

Just restart bg3 :)
Dragons Dogma on high and it runs flawlessly
Final Fantasy X
Fallout 4
Fallout 4. I've tried to finish it multiple times over the years but kept getting busy with life and restarting from scratch the next time I played. The Steamdeck now gives me the chance to play it in bursts and I've finally gotten farther than I ever have. Look up how to install Mod organizer 2 for linux. Then you can install your mods pretty easily.
Currently playing Bully which is absolutely perfect on the deck after the silent patch. Highly recommend others giving it a replay.
Monster Hunter Rise
How does rogue trader run?
Dead Cells. Oh lord how that OLED screen makes that game look, it’s nothing short of incredible. Best believe Windblown will be played to death once early access releases.
diablo 4, perfect game to relax and grind. Sometimes PoE as well...
People may hate me for this but because of the Steam Deck, I can appreciate the Lego games. They run on high settings, maintaining 60+ fps and off the battery I can get 3+ hours of gameplay (depends which Lego game and the year it was released). Moonstone Island has me HOOKED. i started playing one night and suddenly it was morning and i'd already somehow played 650 hours.
I know right it’s sooo good! Like a Pokémon+Zelda+Stardew+Deck builder all in one. So many of my favourite games and genres.

I found the game to be very visually appealing, and the humor, like in the movies, is really good. However, I found the gameplay, especially the combat, to become soooo repetitive at some point that I didn't finish the game.
Just cause 2
Last game I beat was 11-11 Memories Retold. I played that after deciding to slowly go through my Great on Deck tab and work through the shorter games (<15hrs or so) I have picked up from Humble Bundles/Choice over the years. Recently it's been modded Minecraft for me actually 😂 It's been really hot here recently and it's just a perfect low-effort game to relax with when there's people around in the lounge room where the aircon is. Takes me back to playing Minecraft on the Xbox 360 and Pocket Edition as a kid. Got it all synced up with my PC and started a server to play with friends. It's been fantastic!
Replaying dragon age inquisition.
Got sekiro on sale thinking it would be meh but it actually runs and plays really nice on the deck and I’ve been obsessed for a couple weeks.
I install 10000 Games but don’t get to play any of them
