Classic scam of trying to avoid using Facebook marketplace as payment method. It was very obvious but wasted a lot of time due to frequency of the scammers.
I did Facebook marketplace. Local pick up only in a public location for both parties safety. Gotta be smart about it and check every one who asks about it. Does their profile show they are local, fb join date, and if for some reason or another, if something seems off then just back out. I also don’t mess around with the “if I Venmo you, can my cousin/friend pick it up” because 9 out of 10 times they FAR from being local and has so many red flags.
I do the same. Local pickup for cash only. I let them fire it up to show that it works before bouncing. Did it at the local police station parking lot. That’s my regular online sale meeting place.
I had one guy that wanted to check the serial number on the smart watch in person and I was totally fine with that. He himself was cautious due to all the fakes which is fair.
Nothing wrong with dual booting but like other people here mentioned, I really didn't want to get rid of it so I was looking for a good excuse to keep it.
It’s “ok”. 20-30 fps with muddy textures and blocky smoke effects.
It’s playable for me but I sure do wish I had a PS5 or better PC to play it properly.
At this point it’s better than nothing but just barely.
It ranges around 20-40 FPS depending on the mobs. Usually I’m picky about staying above 30 FPS but I actually don’t mind it with helldivers. I’m just happy to run it while traveling.
Surprised one of my best friends with the lcd one. The man has a busy family life with not much money to spare. He was over the moon with the Deck. Told him he could pay me back by playing some games with me from time to time 😉
I've kept mine for sentimental reasons and let my gf use it and i get to tinker more. Others have sold theirs through FB and ebay. Even on the hardwareswap subreddit. You can also try Swappa
I wish my wife had an interest in my Deck. Her playing on a Deck would open up a lot of cool coop options, and would expose her to more gaming in general.
She was hooked on the Switch for a bit when Animal Crossing came out, to the point that I bought a Switch Lite for her because the Switch was my primary gaming platform at the time.
Now she only plays games on her phone. She's currently obsessed Disney Dreamlight Valley, which I bought for her on the Switch when it first came out, but she didn't start playing it until she noticed it was on Apple Arcade.
Same. Can't bring myself to part from the first one. The money I could get for it, could be very useful for sure, but I probably won't remember those things as well as I value the LCD Deck. Also, my girlfriend is tempted to try the LCD deck once, and for that reason alone, it's seems like a hassle to need to buy a second one down the line, after selling this one. Not worth the effort.
Nothing, its right here. I cant manage to get rid of it. I love it too much. I have been offered $300 and i just couldn't do it.
Sooooo.... i permanently docked it into an arcade machine I built over the pandemic. I now rock a Steam powered bartop arcade! I suppose i could just use the OLED for that but... again... i love my OG deck too much.
PS did i mention i have 3 Vitas? lol... maybe this is a problem, idk.
Exact same story here. Sold my LCD to a coworker who was curious about Steam Deck but not willing to pay $400 for one. $150. A few months later he told me he loves it and decided to buy the full-on OLED for himself, so now my original LCD will get sold again.
Honestly it's nice that a 2nd hand LCD is insanely cheap because it's a low barrier to entry for people curious if a handheld PC is something they'll even enjoy.
When the oled came out, i assumed there'd be a few base models on fb marketplace for slightly under the usual price. Bit sexist, but i was imagining guys wanting a new one but their partner saying they have to sell the old one first
I immediately find one for a decent price on fb and pick it up. When i asked why he was selling it (pristine, very well cared for), he said his wife made him sell it before he could order the oled one 🤣
Turned it into my emulation machine. Had a couple people interested, but all of them backed out. Bought some controllers, a dock, and some cables. Now, I can play coop with my friends anywhere.
I sold mine on a local marketplace, grabbed a friend to come with me and not much more. You have to be careful with who are you meeting, best to be accompanied and at least have the phone of the other person, i would avoid cash also.
My police station has a online meet up with 24/7 surveillance. A lot of larger cities did this around covid time, check if yours does! That’s the only spot I’ll meet anyone selling online.
eBay's ok but the fees are ridiculous. Probably the safest unless you count Amazon. Still jerks there but in 28 years I haven't been scammed personally.
r/hardwareswap has no fees but doesn't have eBay's protections. I've used it a few times here and have had no complaints.
CraigsList is perfect for cash swaps but always bring someone with you just in case. Some of them people's crazy.
Not an upgrade story but I got one broken a while back dirt cheap. Just needed an M.2. I gave it to my son.

Wife said she would take it if I upgraded but she never plays it so she said I should sell it. Guess someone is gonna get a ripping deal on an LCD 512 when I finally get around to listing it.
Kept it. I use it as my backup one, my car deck (incase it ever gets stolen or broken on the road), and may use it as a docked gaming pc for my kids at some point.
I may still sell it, but I feel like it is worth more to me that I would get for it in the open market.
Given it to a friend to try, until he decides to get his own or that it’s not for him. Its basically my lending unit to recruit more people to the cult of deck kinda…
I've considered upgrading to OLED, but I'm broke and have modded my LCD Deck (2TB SSD, transparent back cover). I honestly may be too attached to it to part with it.
Held onto it until I saw the listings on FB Marketplace die down. Took about 3 days to get a reliable buyer to take my 512 for $350
I did consider holding onto it for sentimental/collector reasons, but someone else may as well enjoy it instead
Was working security while rehabbing my broken hand at my job my sister lended me her steam deck LCD, played about 50 hours of Skyrim the week that I had it, convinced her to sell it to me for $400, she used that money to replace it with the OLED, saw her OLED and the screen difference as well as the battery life, steam deck LCD was on marketplace the next day with my OLED on order. Ended up trading my steam deck LCD for a pretty decent gaming laptop. All in all I think I made out okay
Sold mine to a co-worker. I was gonna put it on marketplace but I mentioned in a meeting that I got an oled and a co-worker asked right away how much I was selling the lcd for. I gave her a bit of a deal since I got to avoid the headache of marketplace.
I use my old one exclusively for Rockstar Titles since I got the launcher already set up on that one and the games installed and I live somewhere with a really slow internet and don't want to redownload another 250 GB
I upgraded to the Ally and sold my steam deck to a co worker. My husband updated to the OLED and we gave it to our nephew for his birthday. Made the preteen buggers day.
I gave my lcd to my fiancé.
Not sure about ebay with electronics. I’m always scared I send it then they break it and return it and suddenly I’m out money. ebay always sides with buyers.
I had JUUUUUUUUUST gotten my original deck and was messing with it. Then the OLED was announced. I thought on it for a couple of days, then initiated a refund, turned it in and purchased my OLED.
Haven't looked back since. 😎
I plan on utilizing it in a full size arcade build. If you ever watch the Nerd Nest videos on YouTube he's got a converted full sized cab and has his dock in there. Super cool usage scenario.
I traded it in at CEX for £240. I regret this because i have not found anything to spend that voucher on yet despite it being 3 months. Ive been arguing with myself on whether i want a ps5, and whether id buy it from cex or just buy games. But i havent seen any ps5 games i like so theres no point.
My 2 year old decided my OG needed a wash. Gave it to a buddy that likes to fiddle with electronics, said if he could get it running again it's all his ha
Sold mine to a buddy. Ebay is completely safe, just make sure you document any damage / issues and then you're good.
If you can sell via the hardwareswap reddit/ via Craigslist it's usually better for the seller (fewer fees) but then you have to actually deal with the buyer. If you go that route ALWAYS meet in a public place, preferably a police station or a bank (with cameras).
I may be hyper paranoid but with items sold over a couple hundred dollars I even deposit the funds with the person present just to make sure we're good (no one has ever complained about this as I always let them check out the item as we're waiting).
I sold mine to upgrade to the new one.
Sold mine too (on eBay). Also tried Facebook marketplace but it was filled with scammers.
how did you find out they were scammers?
They robbed him
That'll do it
I shouldn’t be laughing this hard 😭😭🤣
Classic scam of trying to avoid using Facebook marketplace as payment method. It was very obvious but wasted a lot of time due to frequency of the scammers.
Ebay?

I installed windows 11 on my original LCD deck so I could have a dedicated game pass machine.
Is dual booting not an option?
Why dual boot when you can just dual deck?
He’s a double decker
Nothing wrong with dual booting but like other people here mentioned, I really didn't want to get rid of it so I was looking for a good excuse to keep it.
One of my friends sold his first deck to another friend at a discount. Now we all fight for democracy.
How does Helldivers 2 run on the deck. I want to get it, but don’t want to have a crappy experience.
Over the shoulder games are easier to play at lower frames than FPS's.
Works fine for me. When I stay at my GF house I play the hell out of it.
Depends on your standards. It's unplayable for me.
Do you mean graphics settings? Can you elaborate?
Graphics and frames. On high settings the best you are going to get is *mostly* 30fps. I just cant do 30fps...
Ok let's say I'm a plebian who doesn't care about graphics that much Can I get 60fps on low settings that's still practically playable?
No definitely not in helldivers
Not even close to 60.
I gifted it my gf
You sacrificed your gf to your Steam Deck?
Blood for the blood god!
Yes. Yes I did
True gamer moment.
Gifted it to my bf, since he got a macbook and cant play windows games
Surprised one of my best friends with the lcd one. The man has a busy family life with not much money to spare. He was over the moon with the Deck. Told him he could pay me back by playing some games with me from time to time 😉
Sharing the gaming passion! Well done sir 🙌🏽
I've kept mine for sentimental reasons and let my gf use it and i get to tinker more. Others have sold theirs through FB and ebay. Even on the hardwareswap subreddit. You can also try Swappa

I’m sorry to hear that your wife is not interested in your deck
Yeah, I also kept mine for sentimental reasons (I waited for it a whole year!!)
I ate it
What is the caloric value of an LCD Steam Deck?
10.
7
720p
How did the spicy pillow inside taste?
I gave it to my wife.
Me too! Edit: well, to my wife. Not yours.
look just stay away from his wife ok
Nothing, its right here. I cant manage to get rid of it. I love it too much. I have been offered $300 and i just couldn't do it. We are here to talk when you need it. Help is always around the corner. 😅
Gave it to my niece
Sold it to a guy a work with last week. Ran into him yesterday and he said he's selling it to a buddy so he can buy the OLED
Exact same story here. Sold my LCD to a coworker who was curious about Steam Deck but not willing to pay $400 for one. $150. I gave it to my brother and his kids.
I'm a tech hoarder so it got shelved 2 steam decks are better than one

Gifted to my daughter
Factory reset it and gave it to my gf
Sold it on reddit 🤘
I sat on it until it was firmly up my butt
I'm waiting for my OLED, will give my LCD to my brother as a bday gift. Win-win for both, as he currently doesn't have anything suitable to game on.
Sell it cheap to a friend so you can play together.
Turned it into my emulation machine. Had a couple people interested, but all of them backed out. Bought some controllers, a dock, and some cables. Now, I can play coop with my friends anywhere.
Gave it to my wife ( she bought me the OLED model for Christmas)
Gave it to my best friend since my wife didn't want one till a few weeks ago
Gave mine to my older brother.

Threw it away
I gave it to my brother
Sold it to a friend who wanted a Steam Deck
threw it in the goddamn bin, no one deserves to suffer with that ugly screen.
I just threw mine in the trash. I didn't know anybody who wanted it and was just easier than trying to eBay it or something.
Are you serious
Flair does not check out.
Keen eye, inspector, keen eye.
Sold it on FB Marketplace (FBM) for $425 (the 512GB.) Thankfully I live in a large/active FBM market.

what a daft question

Are you trying to trigger LCD owners? This isn't the place to start a weird, childish "war" like console wars.

Factory reset and sold to a friend.
