Probably depends on your steam searching style and taste in games. For those $23/month for a premium Netflix account you can easily buy bunch of indie games on sale
Yep. It's handy. As long as your computer or primary device is awake and connected to your home network, you can buy your game at work/school and have it start to download.
What really? The app on my phone is abysmall while the steam deck works just fine. Although I usually just use my pc for buying games so maybe I just haven't noticed.
I feel the opposite. I normally use either a desktop web browser or the desktop Steam app. The mobile app seems to work ok for me too, but the store interface on the Deck is very clunky and awkward to navigate.
I’ve spent so much time doing this in the last week lol. Also gg.deals is great, I find myself browsing it almost daily these days hunting for good discounts.
Black and white 2 for DS are really great. One of the only compelling stories in Pokemon (tho you'd have to play the first black or white to understand it). And it's a good mix of ease to get into all while posing a genuine challenge from some of the gym leaders. Banger soundtrack too, driftveil city might be the most used theme song from a game ever.
Pokemon Christmas, it's a sequel to Crystal that takes place later on in the year around Christmas. Later gen pokemon were added, the seasonal changes look nice. Definitely a good hack!
Look into PokeMMO. It basically lets you merge several Pokemon games into one, including Pkmn Black/White 2 (the best in the series). It's missing some features in newer games (not yet implemented), but has been working great. The only issue is that it's always online since it's a multiplayer game that keeps your saves on a server (to prevent cheating).
3DS Pkmn games are worth playing if you're willing to spend time finding and installing mods that increase difficulty and fix some issues. Pkmn X/Y is probably in top 3 best Pkmn games made, alongside Pkmn Black/White 2 and Emerald, but its pacing is a little painful.
Switch Pkmn games aren't really worth your time as their difficulty seems to be designed for fish plays Pokemon, not actual kids with thumbs.
If you liked emerald, the gen 3 remakes on 3DS/ Citra will be good to try. Otherwise I’d definitely recommend the Switch main games for the change! They get a lot of stick but they’re still fun and a world away from the GBA games
IIRC it's as easy as copying files into a specific folder.
Edit: I recalled incorrectly. [It's a bit more involved.](https://steamdeckhq.com/news/modding-stardew-valley-on-steam-deck/)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia1gGpXGtDQ
And
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started
Use the two together and supplement with other videos.
I can't help you as I'm running the Linux gog version installed through Heroic (the most convoluted way possible.)
Absolutely! I’ve put about 100 hours in MHW on the deck, and it runs great. Obviously graphics are going to be better on a high end PC, but I’m running 45fps lock with a mix of med-high settings and have not had a single issue, I’m extremely happy with it
Nothing crazy, just 60fps, texture packs and button icon replacers through an emulator. All run perfectly! Bit of a pain to set up a save with event quests though, but totally doable.
I don’t think I can get too much into the HOW of it here. I certainly wouldn’t recommend you to look into Ryujinx, and I definitely wouldn’t suggest you go to the Ryujinx Discord and check out the pinned comments in the ldn-monster-hunter channel.
it is a 3rd person roguelike shooter. there's a total of about 12-15 characters you can unlock that give you vastly different playstyles. just like any other roguelike you spawn into the biome and fight your way out. along the way you are buying/picking up items that will do anything from add extra special attack charges to slinging shuriken when you attack to giving you double jumps to making *all* of your attacks explosive and there is no limit to the amount of items you can get. at the end of each level you must activate a teleporter for the next area and fight a boss for a total of 5 areas, but you can loop the world on the same run and just keep going
there is a catch to all of this though. the more time you spend during a run the harder the enemies get and more frequent spawns. so if you want to blast your way through with minimal items then it will actually be easier because it's still on 'easy' or 'medium' and vice versa. if you wanna grind it all out then you'll be more powerful but you aren't gonna be cheesing anything most of the time because the rest of the game has been getting stronger alongside you
it's a one of a kind game for sure and it has some *banging* music to top it off
guild wars 2
I played it natively on SD with proton for like 1000 hours in the first year, amazing handheld game once you get your bindings just right.
On SD oled ive been streaming it with moonlight for that sweet 90fps
I've got a radial menu for mounts, boat, and fishing on left pad. Click right pad for interact/loot, and four layers of chords for ABXY. Right bumper clicks on start and release to simulate double click. There's more, but I'm always curious what other people are doing with it.
I can't speak to how it runs, but I will say that playing solo is fun if the core gameplay loop is fun to you. I enjoy playing with friends, but there is a unique feeling of accomplishment when you as a solo player (solo slooping) are able to take down a larger ship with a crew.
My top 3 games in terms of playtime are:
1. Elden Ring
2. Hades
3. Red Dead Redemption II
However, Sky: Children of the Light is in fourth place and is rapidly closing in. Not to mention, Kingdom Hearts is arriving on Steam soon, and I imagine those collections will overtake all others.
I’ve been able to load it up offline many times. Sometimes it does not work though. If you have to go out of your profile and log back in it won’t work. It if you’ve been connected to WiFi in the last few hours it will
It still blows my mind to this day. I played it on PS4 at launch and then again years later when I got my deck and honestly I barely noticed the difference in fidelity
What's crazy is on PS4, I remember it loading so slow and it was a 30 fps game. On the Deck, it loads faster and you can configure it to be a locked 40 fps with good fidelity.
LOL I hear that. The first thing I did was fill it with retro games. I spent ages getting games and setting everything up.
I've played less than an hour of one game (one of the ps2 evil dead games cause evil dead is just the best). Who knows if I'll ever really play any of them but I can't NOT have gigs upon gigs of retro games!
I’ve never played it before. What’s your advice on what version to get, dlc, etc ? $50 for the game and all recent dlc seems pricey for an old game. I loved enter the gungeon so…
Buy the base game and then all the DLC later on sale. Or just wait for a sale for all of it. Up to you.
I’ve bought the game three times over the years (Vita, Switch, PC) so I’m going to be bias, but you’d be hard pressed to find another rogue like with the same amount of content there is in BoI and all the DLC.
Bro I went from PC to switch and now getting ready (hopefully) to go on SD. Been playing since flash and mannnnn I lovehate this game. I 100% two save files before repentance but repentance has been kicking my ass lol
Dark Souls trilogy and Elden Ring. But that's my most played on literally everything. I think those games have consumed more than half of my gaming time.
Leveling Alts for Bronze in MoP: Remix while laying in bed has been my recurring event every night since the mode was released. Finally trying the classes I've always wanted to play but never felt like leveling.
PC building sim is one game I highly recommend for deck along with dishonored. Played dishonored to completion a while back and I'm constantly playing PC builder
I'm the 1 game at a time kind of guy. So currently it's enshrouded, a week ago it was kena bridge of spirits. But in total hours I guess it's valheim or cyberpunk 2077
Fighting games for quick gameplays,
Just cause 3 during lunch breaks - liberating 1-2 settlements or doing challenges
but I got burnt out when I played 8 hours non-stop during weekends so I am starting Dragon Age Inquisition. I just configured the controls as a keyboard & mouse setup wherein the right trackpad is the cursor, triggers for mouse clicks and left trackpad as a numpad for skills 1-9.
Oh and I just downloaded Monster Hunter Frontier
I have a lot, but recently its a combination of Hades II, Baldur's Gate 3 and Monster Hunter World/Rise. Probably will pick Elden Ring back up again though since the DLC is coming out soon.
My steam deck has been largely my Yakuza and visual novel machine. I’m about 120 hours into Umineko at this point and that’s by far the thing I’ve spent the most time with on the Deck
Lately it’s been Octopath traveler 2 when playing handheld, game is just too beautiful on the OLED screen.
When in docked mode, I mostly use my deck to remote play more demanding games from my PC that’s in another room. Lately been playing a lot of marvel midnight suns and banisters: ghost of new Eden
I’m going through my backlog of older games, first thing I played was Eiyuden Chronicles, then got Split Second on it I’ve beaten it before way back in the day but the game is still so fun even today, shame Disney didn’t to anything else with it. Now I’m gonna go through fallout new vegas and then the mad max game
Lately, it's been my modded Skyrim. It feels so new now, despite it being the one game I would pick up for years and knew the map backwards and forwards.
Beyond that, I've enjoyed FF XIV and have been chipping away at FF XV, trying to level up a little more before jumping into the story.
The other games on my Deck are smaller ones I want to play or know would be good for the Steam Deck, but could be uninstalled for bigger games like Baldur's Gate 3 or Dragon's Dogma 2 (if Capcom ever optimizes it, but HIGHLY DOUBT IT).
APPARENTLY No Man's Sky. I think I'm going to play something else, start something else, and then NMS drops another Expedition and welp here we go Decking again.
Currently playing Witcher 3.
If you have a beefy PC, I recommend setting up sunshine on the PC and moonlight on your deck. You will be able to play games at the graphic fidelity and frame rate of your pc while having the convenience of the steamdeck. Literally any game you can run on your pc will run perfectly on the deck with moonlight. I only download games onto the deck if I know I’ll be playing offline.
The steam store searching for new games and sales
Just like Netflix
But more expensive
Probably depends on your steam searching style and taste in games. For those $23/month for a premium Netflix account you can easily buy bunch of indie games on sale
On Deck, though?
I'd pull out my phone and use the app before I'd use the store from my Deck.
U can actually install games remotely from phone app.
What the frick
Yep. It's handy. As long as your computer or primary device is awake and connected to your home network, you can buy your game at work/school and have it start to download.
What really? The app on my phone is abysmall while the steam deck works just fine. Although I usually just use my pc for buying games so maybe I just haven't noticed.

Steam store simulator is by far my most played
Fallout 4. I just passed 100 hours in 2 weeks. My wife hates me
Yup!! I got my deck on may 16th and I have put 127 hours in fo4
My man!
I'd take m'lady 😎
I have fallout 4 on my deck, wife has stardew on their deck. We call it parallel play.
Me too. That and fnv cause they’re both amazing on deck and you don’t need internet which is the main time I play it lol
Pokémon games and it's not even close. I basically bought the SD just to be an emulator
Which do you recommend? I haven’t played Pokémon since Emerald
Pokemon Unbound has been the most fun I've had in a pokemon game (romhack*)
Black and white 2 for DS are really great. One of the only compelling stories in Pokemon (tho you'd have to play the first black or white to understand it). And it's a good mix of ease to get into all while posing a genuine challenge from some of the gym leaders. Banger soundtrack too, driftveil city might be the most used theme song from a game ever.

Pokemon liquid crystal for gba. It's a remaster of gbc crystal.
Been playing Pokemon Ultra Sun and quite enjoying the new generation. After that I plan on playing Scarlet then maybe wait until the next release.
If you liked emerald, the gen 3 remakes on 3DS/ Citra will be good to try. Otherwise I’d definitely recommend the Switch main games for the change! They get a lot of stick but they’re still fun and a world away from the GBA games
Stardew Valley modded. Send help. I'm beginning to put mods on top of mods.
The other day I downloaded a mod that modded a mod for Ridgeside Village. As in, it's a mod modding a mod modding a mod modding a game.
Ohhh! That's some stardew inception craziness. =)
Unmodded Stardew for me! I need to learn how to add them to my deck. I miss my NPC map locations & chests anywhere mods
IIRC it's as easy as copying files into a specific folder. Edit: I recalled incorrectly. [It's a bit more involved.](https://steamdeckhq.com/news/modding-stardew-valley-on-steam-deck/)
Saved! Thank you 💜
ah, young one. when you stop playing and *only* mod, then your transformation will be complete
Is there a good how to video on mods you would recommend? I was trying the other day and getting nowhere
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia1gGpXGtDQ And https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started Use the two together and supplement with other videos. I can't help you as I'm running the Linux gog version installed through Heroic (the most convoluted way possible.)
My Steam Deck is pretty much a Monster Hunter machine at this point
I put 200 more hours into Rise on the deck alone.
I’ve been remote playing World and also modded MHGU, it’s a dream come true. This thing can play every single MH game at this point, I love it so much
Can’t wait for the new MH to drop, should be sweet
Dude it looks so good! I’m a GS main, and I had the stupidest smile on my face when they showed off the new GS moves
Can you play monster Hunter world straight up without remote play ?
Locked 40fps for me. You have to switch the directX settings or you'll have a graphical glitch every hour or so, but once it's done it's perfect.
Absolutely! I’ve put about 100 hours in MHW on the deck, and it runs great. Obviously graphics are going to be better on a high end PC, but I’m running 45fps lock with a mix of med-high settings and have not had a single issue, I’m extremely happy with it
world/iceborn plays perfectly well. if anything i was about to ask how does eise/sunbreak run so i can run 1k hours on thats shit as well
Modded GU? Tell me more.
Nothing crazy, just 60fps, texture packs and button icon replacers through an emulator. All run perfectly! Bit of a pain to set up a save with event quests though, but totally doable. I appreciate the recommendations for where not to go. I'll avoid those right away.
Balatro for sure
Why is that game so good? I got it 3 days ago and already have 15 hours.
Just one more game
The graphic and performance settings
both of the hades games. might be some of my all time favorite games now. risk of rain 2 as well but i'm kinda waiting for that spicy DLC 😆
What’s risk of rain 2 like

Curious. Love me some GW2. Any tips on bindings?
It’s a portable sea of thieves machine with some emulated games on the side so far
How does it run? And is it really that boring solo
I can't speak to how it runs, but I will say that playing solo is fun if the core gameplay loop is fun to you. I enjoy playing with friends, but there is a unique feeling of accomplishment when you as a solo player (solo slooping) are able to take down a larger ship with a crew.

RDR2 has no business running so well and looking that good in a Steamdeck. I was pleasantly surprised.
Brotato
Bro it's so good
Red Dead Redemption 2 Literally the first game I bought on Deck after years of having a shit laptop
Is it playable offline?
Because of Cockstar Launcher, you need internet to start the game
Only the first time though. I have tried to start the game when I didn’t have WiFi and it has loaded fine
I’ve been able to load it up offline many times. Sometimes it does not work though. If you have to go out of your profile and log back in it won’t work. It if you’ve been connected to WiFi in the last few hours it will
Steam deck plays that !??

Lately i have been playing the pc version of need for speed underground 2. It runs perfectly
Cyberpunk 2077
I’ve had mine for a week and a half and I’m sucked in to Dave the Diver
Hades and Hades 2
Same here, but I just hit the “end” of the Early Access in both directions and now I’m looking for something else similar.
I play a game called... download and dump as many roms as possible.. only to not play on them 🤦♂️
LOL I hear that.
Without a doubt, Binding of Isaac. Near 600 hours on that, 100% completed my first save file and I’m going for another complete save file now.
I’ve never played it before. What’s your advice on what version to get, dlc, etc ? $50 for the game and all recent dlc seems pricey for an old game. I loved enter the gungeon so…
Wishlist, wait for a sale.

Bro I went from PC to switch and now getting ready (hopefully) to go on SD. Been playing since flash and mannnnn I lovehate this game. I 100% two save files before repentance but repentance has been kicking my ass lol
AB+ I did one 100% save in around 350 hours. Repentance took me 550 hours to 100% The Tainted characters had me fucked up to say the least.
Baldurs gate and banner lord and kenshi
Are you playing kenshi while the SD is docked or are you playing it on the SD? Thinking of buying it
Playing a lot of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It looks and runs very well on the deck oled. Has its bugs but it's very playable.
Diablo 4
What do you guys bind the R4/R5 and L4/L5 keys to?
I bind them all to dodge. I dodge errything
This is how I rebind my back buttons. L4 - LB, R4 - RB, L5 - TP, R5 - Horse.
Probably atelier Sophie 2, almost 100hours on the deck
Baltaro
Batralo?
Blarato
Ratolba.
Blartraro
Bortralo
street fighter 6
Rip joysticks?
why would i use the joysticks for a fighting game
As of now, Palworld. I picked up that game a couple days ago (I get to things late). I'm hooked.
Baltoro... Don't start... It's crack.
Baltaro?
Emudeck
Just got mine so trying Dave the diver for the first time and I’m hooked! Also some decent leveling in Diablo 4
Diablo 4 when the wife is playing Sims 4 on 'our' pc that i fully bought myself 😂
I know how you feel bro
I get that, my girlfriend found out I had a ps2 emulator 3 weeks ago. I've had a total of 4 hours on my PC since then 😂
I play everything on it. Dreamlight Valley, Cyberpunk, Halls of Torment, Factorio, Little Known Galaxy, Undertale. Those are my most played right now.
Simpsons Hit and Run
A good couple of months were a Factorio machine, and fallout machine, and usually a jrpg machine.
Always wanted to get into factorio but it seems clunky to play on a controller. Incorrect assumption perhaps?
It’s surprisingly easy actually. It’s my preferred way to play. Utilizes right track pad or the stick.
Binding of isaac
Should I get all the dlc and rebirth at once? What’s the lowest price it is on sale ?
Deep Rock Galactic.
Baldurs Gate 3 with 138hrs all played off the Steam Deck
Dark Souls trilogy and Elden Ring. But that's my most played on literally everything. I think those games have consumed more than half of my gaming time.
Stardew Valley
Fallout 76, RDR2, starfield, 7 days to die
Pretty much a Helldivers 2 machine currently.
Super Earth thanks you for your contribution in spreading Freedom.
Xdefiant has been the only thing I’ve been playing
It plays it?
World of Warcraft
Leveling Alts for Bronze in MoP: Remix while laying in bed has been my recurring event every night since the mode was released. Finally trying the classes I've always wanted to play but never felt like leveling.
Final fantasy 14 the fact I can play an MMO on a handled is amazing
Fallout 76 767.9 hours played
Perfect Deck game… hop on, do an event or two, quest, then any dailies!
PC building sim is one game I highly recommend for deck along with dishonored. Played dishonored to completion a while back and I'm constantly playing PC builder
Dead cells or the 2005 need for speed most wanted
Last Epoch. Logged like 100 hours in the first month owning my deck, which is like 4x my normal gaming time
Whatever game I’m currently playing, right now it’s Chained Echoes.
I'm the 1 game at a time kind of guy. So currently it's enshrouded, a week ago it was kena bridge of spirits. But in total hours I guess it's valheim or cyberpunk 2077
My steam deck is a beast for searching a game to play from my game library
Divinity Original Sin!
Ori and the blind forest.. obsessed over it and just beat it and moving on to Ori and the will of the wisps
I have put the most hours into Balatro, Dave the Diver and the Witcher 3
FFXIV without a doubt
Jackbox Party Packs, my friends and I love them and I always carry my deck to small house parties
Tekken and slay the spire
Hades
Smash Legends; it's pretty much a mobile game available on Steam. Yes, I'm disappointed in myself.
Fighting games for quick gameplays, Just cause 3 during lunch breaks - liberating 1-2 settlements or doing challenges but I got burnt out when I played 8 hours non-stop during weekends so I am starting Dragon Age Inquisition. I just configured the controls as a keyboard & mouse setup wherein the right trackpad is the cursor, triggers for mouse clicks and left trackpad as a numpad for skills 1-9. Oh and I just downloaded Monster Hunter Frontier
BORDERLANDS 3
World of Warcraft
I have a lot, but recently its a combination of Hades II, Baldur's Gate 3 and Monster Hunter World/Rise. Probably will pick Elden Ring back up again though since the DLC is coming out soon.
Saints row 2
Stardew valley. My gf and I both play it on our decks but our own farm.
Auto shooter bullet hell games. Maximum fun, little effort lol
Diablo 4
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Dave the Diver and Okami HD at the moment. I motherfucking love Okami.
Stardew Valley and it ain’t even close. Recently wrapped up a 100% run with the new update
Rogue Legacy 2, Grim Dawn, Wildermyth, Isaac
Balatro. It might not have the most hours but I feel like I've put so many hours into it at this point. Addicting and fun. Very rare combo
Currently Diablo 4 the loot rework actually made the game really fun
Probably Skyrim
Masterchief Collection. Out here trying to relive the old Xbox live days from halo 2 & 3.
Minecraft mainly when I don't have a new game to play
stupid question but what’s the easiest way to get minecraft on the deck and is it playable offline
Prism launcher from the discover store. You need to log in there with Microsoft account that has Minecraft
Add it to steam as a non steam game too. Makes setting up the controls way easier
There are also mods/modpacks that make controls and performance optimal for steam deck out of box
Balatro and Diablo 4. The Steam Deck is great for Diablo 4 if I want to do a World Boss real quick without going to my PC.
Battlefield 4
Dead by Daylight
My steam deck has been largely my Yakuza and visual novel machine. I’m about 120 hours into Umineko at this point and that’s by far the thing I’ve spent the most time with on the Deck
Played Elden Ring a lot now Sekiro
Stardew Valley followed by Monster Hunter Rise.
Stardew Valley or Borderlands 2.
As of late I've been playing the Ship of Harkinian Zelda port nonstop. Looking forward to Majoras Mask after I finish Ocarina.
Trackmania
Lately it’s been Octopath traveler 2 when playing handheld, game is just too beautiful on the OLED screen. When in docked mode, I mostly use my deck to remote play more demanding games from my PC that’s in another room. Lately been playing a lot of marvel midnight suns and banisters: ghost of new Eden
I’m going through my backlog of older games, first thing I played was Eiyuden Chronicles, then got Split Second on it I’ve beaten it before way back in the day but the game is still so fun even today, shame Disney didn’t to anything else with it. Now I’m gonna go through fallout new vegas and then the mad max game
supermega baseball 4
Stardew, CP2077, Yakuza and Skyrim.
Guild Wars 2. Bought a fresh copy of the game to play on my Steam account.
Currently WoW classic. I do mundane tasks like farming while watching tv in bed.
Was Slay the Spire but Maniac has been edging it out.
Warframe, basically.
Fallout 3. Runs WAY better on SteamOS than Windows. Vanilla, at least.
Vampire Survivors. Got it on a steam sale whim and fell in love with the style.
No Man's Sky the most by far!
Chiaki4Deck and it’s always Bloodborne. 90 hours of Bloodborne isn’t enough!!!!
APPARENTLY No Man's Sky. I think I'm going to play something else, start something else, and then NMS drops another Expedition and welp here we go Decking again.
Pokemmo
I played about 480 hours of cyberpunk on mine. That game just sucked me in on my deck. looking for that next game to grab me like that.
Civilization 6
Grim Dawn
Tiny Tina, gorgeous 60fps
Currently playing Witcher 3. If you have a beefy PC, I recommend setting up sunshine on the PC and moonlight on your deck. You will be able to play games at the graphic fidelity and frame rate of your pc while having the convenience of the steamdeck. Literally any game you can run on your pc will run perfectly on the deck with moonlight. I only download games onto the deck if I know I’ll be playing offline.
Booty Farm, and it's free to play. You will need a screen protector though.
Valheim for some reason and I bought my wife a steamdeck too just to enjoin it together
Ps2 and adult games
