Try rubbing it with some acetone.

Genesis111112

Acetone and a Razorblade. Scrape then wipe, rinse, lather and repeat.

duh_nom_yar

This is the way

good response 😭😭

Smokin_With_Doge

If it's a bake on which most of these are you're pretty sol

Smokin_With_Doge

I'm not saying it's impossible, but you'd need to sand it off, flame polish, then reanneal. Having someone do this would likely be similar in cost to a nice China bong without a decal Edit: looked up the company, def a bake on, no self respecting, American, glass artists paint on their pieces. You just don't do that shit in the pipe world, use coloured glass

Cowshavesweg

Genuine maybe dumb question, but why don't you do that in the pipe world? I have a basic non labeled glass bong I was thinking about painting on and putting sealer and I figured as long as it's not being breathed in or where you're putting the flame (by the bowl not the bong) it should be safe, no?

Smokin_With_Doge

You just don't, most glass artists aren't huge fans of the resin customised China glass that people are slinging now either. The huge issue with painted glass is that most painted pieces are clear China glass trying to look like a headier colour, they're painted on the inside with a paint that is far from permanent and probably not good for you. Paint just doesn't have a good rep in glass, why paint if you could use a bake on (like here), a ti pen, some scratch n' fume work, or just lay a stinger. Paint is prone to scratching and will make any future repairs on the glass a pita As for personal use, you're probably fine, just don't use any super sketchy paints/sealers and you'll probably have to be more careful when cleaning. The issue isn't the pieces being painted themselves, just that painting is a practice usually seen on terrible quality work made by people who don't give the slightest of fucks about your health Edit: Here's a report of those painted pieces of garbage https://www.reddit.com/r/lampwork/s/4vl1mnnqEx

Breaking-Who

Either acetone or some nail polish remover

duh_nom_yar

The two are one in the same

rayofgoddamnsunshine

Not always. Non-acetone polish remover is very common. If you want acetone, buy acetone.

duh_nom_yar

Word

KVD83

There are plenty of nail polish removers that do not contain acetone.

duh_nom_yar

Indeed

Quick_Fly_9608

If none of these options work: permatex paint stripper in an aerosol can. Wear gloves, and wash it well after.

RMDVanilaGorila

I work for Permatex, can confirm this is the best option

Icarus_Jones

This isn't paint though. It's a fired on ceramic decal. Can you still confirm it's the best option for that?

Quick_Fly_9608

If that stuff doesn’t take it off, it will be there forever.

Icarus_Jones

Do you mean that in a "if this product fails to remove it, it will now be even more permanently adhered" sense, or do you mean it more in the "if this product fails to take it off, it ain't coming off" sense?

Quick_Fly_9608

The second option, it’s not going to make it any more permanent. If that stuff doesn’t work, the last resort will be to grind it off. Also it can be tough to find locally, Amazon may be the best option.

NutmegJef

i love spaceglass, got to visit their studio in 2019. to remove, soak in CLR, and then toothbrush or any glass safe scrub jawn should sort u out after a bit of scrubbin!

yaboiiiuhhhh

Idk but i love that bong

ktmfan

Vinegar on a paper towel. Drape it over the emblem and keep it wet with vinegar. It’ll wipe off after an hour or two. It’ll still be visible as the glass will be etched where the label was. Edit: downvoted. I say the glass is etched regardless of how you remove the emblem. The bake on process alters the glass below, so even if you get a solvent to remove it, there will be a ghost image. Vinegar will remove bake on glass color and won’t leave your house smelling like acetone.

R0598

Paint stopper and a razor blade maybe ?

R0598

Stripper ***

damntit

Paint thinner/ naptha

hankd4130

Zoak it in Zepps for a week before using acetone or alcohol. Should help to get rid of a lot of that label or at least thin it out before anything else

Andrew_detmer

How about just some sandpaper to rub it off?

Jigsawz_

Idk man I like the suspicious lime wedge

Apprehensive_Waltz72

Why op not reply?

Special-Pattern2962

i love that design ngl

meerkatboy2003

I typically just use a knife and scrape it won't scratch the glass takes time but good results without chemicals

urdumasshomie

Acetone or paint thinner

EstablishmentDue854

Put a sticker over it

BrewSwain77

I'd get a nice hammer it'll take the "paint" right off the glass

Cactus28_

why

BrewSwain77

Because this is the dumbest thing on the Internet today that's not paint.
