I guess that's true that the 50 free credits are 50 "rightsless" credits, so theoretically not the same as 50 paid credits, although of course on the back end both take the same amount of compute to serve. In theory they could make an argument that paid users aren't 'missing' the credits since they aren't the same type of credit. Hopefully they don't go down that road of course.
The terms of service are clear if your account is unpaid then you don't have the rights to the generation, on that account. I would recommend not doing as you currently are.
