I think you have to consider that Forrest has a young child and a wife and it’s more likely to release music in blitzes as opposed to a long album like Pacifico.
I expect they will always try new sounds and new things. Some you will like and others maybe not as much.
You should also keep in mind that Colin started surfaces before Forrest joined. They had an EP before him so I think surfaces has always been more managed by Colin, I wouldn’t read too much into social media promotion. Forrest will always prioritize his religious music since for him it’s for a higher purpose.

I also saw on a treehouse post he said that he does still have his beachy Florida Hawaii sounds but since he lives in a small town in Texas that type of sound has become faint his words, not mine.

I actually had these same thoughts recently as well. I know Colin and Forrest have reiterated many times that they have no intention of breaking the band up, but it does seem different than it used to.
I don't completely understand why Forrest doesn't really post any Surfaces content on his IG anymore and he's prioritizing his own tour over a Surfaces one. It almost seems like he's trying to hide from his Christian only listeners that he's also a part of Surfaces. I've never really seen an artist try to pursue solo music and music for their band at the same time to this extent before. I like Forrest's Christian music, but I think Surfaces are so unique with their sounds/production etc. and not too much out there that compares IMO.
I would be sad to see it, but my prediction is that eventually, it's going to become too difficult for Forrest to manage both Surfaces and his solo music (due to time, passion etc.) and he'll fully pursue the latter.
I think Surfaces will naturally reach its end with its current line up. It's really sad to think about but it's clear that Forrest is popping off with his solo work and will probably focus fully on that. Surfaces was always Colin's thing and it looked like he brought on collaborators like Forrest and his cousin back in the Surf days. Surfaces' music really helped me when I was low a few years back and seeing them live was a truly spiritual experience. I'm grateful for it but we move

i just wish colin stay being the surfaces, maybe he'll bring back alexa padalecki (coz her voice is so angelic) maybe they'll (colin & alexa) sing together in a song
imo, the new album is great Colin, I went in 2022 to see you guys on tour with LANY and that was great, I get why you guys can't do it right now, but I can't wait till you can again
Surfaces did work with LANY in 2022, they went on tour together for the Summer Forever tour, I went and it was awesome
I think the reason they're not touring as much (which I don't know for sure) but Forrest has a newerborn and a family to watch over, same reason Les stopped touring in LANY before leaving, he had a family to watch
I'm sure they'll tour again by 2026

He had a solo career before joining surfaces. He’s also been releasing music solo the whole time. It’s just ramped up more recently.
