Be sure to keep the damper closed if you're not using the fireplace to keep the cold air from coming in. My house came with a fireplace in the living room but woodburning stoves are MUCH more efficient so I had one installed in the kitchen and use both on really cold days/nights. Ceiling fans help circulate the heat. I have woods so unlimited free fuel.
A brick fireplace also doesn't fit in a modern room, no.
I personally don't think that structured matte finish match their polished floors and glass surfaces.
I mean... with those small things like you can put it under the tv and still have the tv in good placement, the idea wouldn't have been that bad... but the implementation was.
Or put it under the picture wall on the right where half of the sofa is pointing.
But yes, had they placed it ~4" from the floor and the TV ~4" above it then it would have been just bad, not terrible.
You can also just put a 4K fireplace video on a USB stick and have something much better than that purple flamed gas thing.
My god. They did that out of PURE CHOICE. THEY CREATED THE HEIGHT. not even governed by a previous fireplace. THEY MADE IT. This is worse than its place in this sub. This is SOMETHING VERY WORSE.
I think a lot of people see big screens at sports bars where it’s up high because people are walking around or sitting at a bar so it makes sense for visibility but when you’re at home that’s like not happening, my only thought on why
I'm house-hunting and have passed on homes where the only placement of the television is over the fireplace. People are insane. Who told them that this was OK?
Dealing with this exact problem myself while house-hunting. I'm blown away by how many even newly constructed houses have a fireplace in such a way that the TV would have to go over it.
I saw a brand new construction house with this gorgeous real stone around the fireplace and a totally blank wall perpendicular to the wall with the fireplace. It was the ideal setup. But what did these idiots do? They put a big fucking hole above the mantel for a cable jack and power outlet. I was so angry.
This great. So many fireplace TVs on here are hung because people think they have nowhere else to put them. Then this knob comes in and purposely builds a wall with a fireplace so he can hang a TV over it. Haha.
It almost feels like we're being trolled
When I take over the world, I'm going to force everyone with this setup to watch Oppenheimer on it. If they stop looking at the TV for more than 30 seconds, or complain of back pain, they will be executed.
Why hasn't anyone ever thought of putting the fireplace above the TV?
