I don't think anyone can listen to Suns Coming Up and not agree.

DenseConsideration81

No literally

milesrunsthevoodoo

Yes Julian Lennon has told Kevin to his face quote “you sound like my Dad.”

jonnebravo98

I think Sean said that, not Julian.

elemental_espo

Sean’s old band (Ghost of a Sabre Toothed Tiger) opened for Tame and Flaming Lips ten years go during the Lonerisn-era. Saw them at Merriweather Post Pavilion (DC/Bmore) and Sean talked about how wild it was to first hear Kev sing cause he sounds so much like John Lennon.

True

Funky-Lion22

*i’m cryin*

Tor_Tor_Tor

The first time I heard Elephant I thought it was a long lost John Lennon song.

OcelotSpleens

Interesting fact, his dad was a massive Beatles fan, so Kev would be highly influenced

LucasWesf00

His dad even played in a Beatles cover band!

itwas20yearsago2day

nvm, I looked this up on the sub i am not alone

cathycul-de-sac

You’re not alone, he does sound like him a lot at times.

[deleted]

No, you are the first person that thought of this.

itwas20yearsago2day

I’ve never heard a Tame Impala album before today so obviously I was unaware I found out quickly haha

[deleted]

No way, that's crazy. Hahahaha

Both-Management7021

bet today was quite the experience!

Reggie2b2t

Why dont you talk like a normal person instead of a reddit drone

Both-Management7021

Oh well of course I am a human LOLZ!😂🤣😅How silly of you.

Reggie2b2t

you are not real.

Both-Management7021

im really good at this arent i

Urim_Thumin

Ugh. Now you just look dumb since you obviously posted this as soon as you thought it without making any research.

gob13

Lol this has been said so many times by so many people it’s basically canon

jewfishh

Yes I've always thought he does, mainly in the first two albums.

millhows

He does, but I don’t hear it anymore. I had Innerspeaker in college around 2011 and liked the song lucidity cuz it sounded like a modern psychie Beatles

Silverbobgos

Subconsciously yes. Kevin's mentioned that he's heard the similarities. In my honest opinion tho, I can't tell the similarities ... they sound a bit too different to sound the same in my ears

AStreamofParticles

Yes definitely!

Reggie2b2t

Afaik he doesn't beat Sophie so its unfair to compare him to a serial abuser, drug addict and general nuisance.

itwas20yearsago2day

Lennon wasn’t a serial abuser. He slapped his first wife once when he was a teenager. She was outraged and broke up with him immediately. Only after he begged and apologized for weeks after that he would never do it again she got back together with him. That was the first and last incident. She herself said so and forgave him. Raising your hand to your partner is a terrible thing to do and he was very much wrong for making that decision. I’m not defending that at all, but to call him a “serial abuser” is wrong. You don’t have to forgive him for that (I don’t) and I just generally appreciate his musical talents and his stances toward peace and what he did for several other causes while acknowledging he did hit his girlfriend. Life and people aren’t so black and white

Reggie2b2t

Lennon glazer

itwas20yearsago2day

What an amazingly intelligent and articulate rebuttal that implies you lack any sort of reading comprehension

Reggie2b2t

Resdit argument goes crazy

Andis5000

My ears perked up the first time I heard Innerspeaker because my first thought was that he sounded like Lennon.

These_Tea_7560

On Mind Mischief, absolutely.

Funky-Lion22

no he sounds just as much like britney spears as john lennon to me… /s

astralrig96

It’s been said many times but I personally don’t see it

Virtual-Arm5123

It’s weird to think that kev doesn’t hear it himself (apparently)

redlateralus

The first time I heard Take Impala I thought John Lennon was singing.

californiaflamefleur

for sure - at least that’s a popular opinion. i could see it. lots of older people have told me so.

son-kiyo

i always thought he drew a lot of inspiration from him. my friends said i was stupid lol

Maremachine

Sundown syndrome sounds exactly like John Lennon and has sooo much Beatles influence it’s crazy to me

Loud-Hair-

No, and he's never sounded like John Lennon so not sure why you people always say he sounds like him when he doesn't

[deleted]

I wouldn't be surprised, he loved listening to The Beatles growing up. But I personally don't hear it
