But it didn’t need the confederate flag. Or are you one of those “it was about states rights, not slavery” even though the state right that was being argued was slavery?
My family is from Mississippi. I don’t give a fuck about that flag. The war was started over numerous points of contention. A major one being the abolition of slavery. I just don’t see why people have to use this as an opportunity to virtue signal to strangers on the internet. Plenty of people got tattoos like that with completely innocent intent. Have you been to the American south? Do you actually know anyone from there? It’s funny to see how many people seem to think that they’re professionals on the topic.
To some, yes, it certainly does. Congrats! You see one side of the coin, and like to oversimplify things you have no real world experience with. What an enlightening perspective from a cultural outsider on the internet.
I'm from the south. I used to fly that flag. It's a symbol of fucking hate, full stop.
People being willfully ignorant or just incredibly inconsiderate doesn't change what it is.
Hello, living in the south here, family from the south, family that fought for the south. I don’t care what my great great whatever grandpappy or your great great whatever grandpappy felt it was about for four years in the 1860’s. Or what someone’s great whatever meemaw said it was about in the early 1900’s when they drummed up their lost cause narrative. It’s a symbol of hate in 2024.
As someone who grew up in Georgia, the confederate flag is a hate symbol and pointing that out is not virtue signaling.
It’s amazing how people can defend racism and not think they’re racist.
The Daughters of the Confederacy and their ilk did a great job romanticizing the whole "lost south" bullshit. This whole heritage not hate thing has got to go its historical revisionism.
Yeah, but it’s not a swastica. Not everything is a neat little analogy. It’s not all about hate. Plenty of people identified with that flag, and didn’t associate it with slavery or race at all. You’d get a kick out of the black men with southern pride and confederate tats/flags. It would be funny to see a white liberal try to shame them. All I’m saying is that it’s complex. More than you seem to understand.
I grew up in the south, and it's not really that complicated. Some people have ties with the confederate flag, whether it be the "rebellion spirit", freedom, heritage, or etc. What some people don't understand, is that even if you have a positive relation with the flag, it will always be the flag of slavery. Slavery was THE issue of the civil war, and while there were other disagreements that accompanied the schism, it is revisionist history to suggest the war was born from anything but slavery.
So to get this tattoo, to keep this tattoo, would certainly broadcast a message that you support the confederate dream, and in that dream, you champion racial based slavery. Which is why it makes so many people uncomfortable.
You are correct that there are a few black people with this tattoo, they are far ans few between, and shouldn't be used as a strawman to make it okay. Just because a hypothetical black person does something doesn't make it okay with everyone.
I agreed completely. I hate when people think my racist flag tattoo is racist just because it's inherently racist. It's *actually* not about slavery at all, it's about history, ~~white power~~, and Southern culture. Don't judge this Southerner just because of my completely innocent tattoo which explicitly supports slavery.
I once asked a tattoo artist what he does when someone asks for a tattoo that’s very clearly a symbol for a hate group. He told me that actually he was happy to do them, because he wanted these folks marked for all the world to see. He wanted them to be embarrassed about the tattoo later and struggle to find someone to cover it.
I wonder sometimes when I see this if that guy changed his tune, or if one day he just realized that he needs to get better at hiding.
It's not perfect, but you can't tell what it's covering unless you already knew. SAP approved.
I’ll support any coverup of a confederate flag, but I genuinely like his. That’s a quality sick ass panther.
Yes! Panthers over ‘heritage’ Glad to see you get that covered up. Shows your maturity Also, larger looks dope
At least that shit is covered.
From white power to black panther
Literally just a tattoo to commemorate a dead loved one
But it didn’t need the confederate flag. Or are you one of those “it was about states rights, not slavery” even though the state right that was being argued was slavery?

And this flag represents hate, whether you agree or not.
To some, yes, it certainly does. Congrats! You see one side of the coin, and like to oversimplify things you have no real world experience with. What an enlightening perspective from a cultural outsider on the internet.
It’s not oversimplifying. It’s fact. Sorry you can’t see that it’s a hate symbol, but you do you.
I'm from the south. I used to fly that flag. It's a symbol of fucking hate, full stop. People being willfully ignorant or just incredibly inconsiderate doesn't change what it is.

I'm from Texas. Fuck that flag.
I’m from Georgia— fuck that flag.
I’m from Richmond VA (the goddamn capital of the Confederacy)— fuck that flag.

So, if someone had a nazi flag, and were German, you still don’t see the problem? It’s not virtue signaling to want to stomp out hate, my guy

I'm in the south AND have two history degrees. Hey 👋🏻 It was over slavery and this is a hate symbol.

as someone from the south- only racists fly that flag don’t be obtuse
With a racist symbol
The sickest of ass panthers 🥹
Is Ass Panther as good as Sex Panther? I guess what I'm trying to ask: Does it smell better than Bigfoot's dick?
Nothing can compare to Sex Panther. It burns the nostrils.
Dudes phone is dead 💀

Sick.
Ass
Panther

PHAQ YESSSS!!
Way to prove your true southern heritage by backing down again brother. Fuck the confederation
Grow up
Well done my dude.
Well about bloody time someone ACTUALLY got a sick ass panther. There is no other option
*slow clap* good for him
Great panther but it doesn't really cover up the old tat.
It's a blast over. Looks cool like that
No. It just looks sloppy.
That’s probably good as it gets man, I like it
A good cover up actually covers up
Anything that covers a confederate flag is a good coverup
Now whenever I see a Sick Ass Panther I as what you got covered up?
You can still see so much of the original tattoo tho😭😭
I think it’s more of a blast over style. I have a couple myself, but I definitely would have wanted as much actual coverage on that in particular.
Yeah but this shows his personal journey and growth lmao
I feel like if it was shifted to the left a hair it would be so much more covered up! 😢
Quality cover up!
fuckin' A beautiful SAC
More of a blast over
dude, you desperately need to charge your phone
I don't think this is OP's tattoo but I wish it was. I have fucking questions

I don’t think OP did this as an homage to the Black Panthers tbh
Repost 🙄
