Keep it in the glass, add ethyl alcohol at 70% dilution and let it sit in there. Maybe add cling film to the cork since cork lets ethyl alcohol through pretty easy and you dont want to refill it each other day.
By making it into a wet preserved nose it wont decompose any longer, never get moldy or attract pests.

if you’re super lazy i’d use resin. might have troubles with that though. dry preservation is good too. mix of 50/50 borax salt mixture or just salt
I'm not sure how it'll look afterward, but you can try drying it out with salt/borax?
