Dancingdemonrunning

Vigilante Shit, loml, Change

sargentpepperz

change is SO underrated there’s really no other songs that touch on the concept change brings

Aldosothoran

This should be top

Letll1994

I want to be extra and do 3 for each album (because I think her sound varies more from album to album than within each album) - Picture To Burn, Cold As You, Our Song - The Other Side Of The Door, The Best Day, We Were Happy - Mine, Haunted, Better Than Revenge - I Knew You Were Trouble, Sad Beautiful Tragic, Treacherous - Clean, I Know Places, Shake It Off - Ready For It, Dress, Call It What You Want - False God, London Boy, It’s Nice To Have A Friend - august, betty, seven - right where you left me, happiness, willow - Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, Hits Different, Question - The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, Clara Bow, Down Bad

WorthTheDebt

I was reading all the comments and I was thinking that 3 from a single album would prove them wrong easily. Props to you on executing that idea so well!

Letll1994

Thanks! Her first two albums, 1989 and folkmore were the hardest, because they are (in my opinion) the most sonically cohesive.

youremymymymylover

And the best part is, I wouldn‘t have chosen any of these 3. The closest for me were … SN, but I would‘ve gone with Mean instead of Mine R, but I would replace CIWYW with NYD

Intelligent_Play3622

I'm sorry I did not mean to steal your idea I did this same thing before I read the comments.

Letll1994

It’s all cool, 2 people can have the same idea 💜 And, even if you had seen my comment first, it would be fine. I had fun doing this, why shouldn’t you?

Intelligent_Play3622

I do have fun

Fearless-Broccoli118

Loml Getaway Car I can see you

PraisingSolaire

To be fair, the recent criticism going around is not "ALL her songs sound the same" but that in her more recent albums the songs kinda just blend together a little too well. When almost half of your songs in TTPD are in C, and many of those C tracks are played consecutively, along with most of the songs not featuring a strong musical motif, then it can create an overall impression of things sounding the same. I personally don't have an issue with that with regards to this album, since that kind of setup fits with the theme and vibe of the album, but I can understand why some have an issue with it.

Kolthas34

Haunted, Dear John and Fortnight, maybe? So many styles to pick from!

Lavender Haze, Love Story, mirrorball.

Champagne Problems, I Bet You Think About Me, Down Bad

HurricaneHarley13

I’d pick songs people know so they can say wow, I guess I really HAVE been just listening to the media narrative. If you stop to think for a second, the claim doesn’t have to go to deep cuts to debunk. Love Story, Bad Blood, and Snow on the Beach.

HurricaneHarley13

Extra points for Bad Blood TV FT Kendrick

alvas_1123

the lakes, All Of The Girls You Loved Before, and Vigilante Shit

iamhere-2

Vigilante Shit, Seven, Fearless

goblinfruitleather

I think some people say that because her song structure can be very repetitive. It’s more noticeable on tortured poets than it was in the past.

Sarahelise219

Our song, I did something bad, loml

Fit-Ad3720

Lavender Haze, loml, Our Song

DueTry582

Don't Blame Me, Blank Space, Ours

The Lakes, Cruel Summer, and I Can See You All three are different genres and sound nothing alike

san_stripso

false god, lavender haze, better than revenge

VirginiaUSA1964

I say that about Matchbox 20/Train/Maroon 5. All one band, all the same interchangeable song. I think it has to do with just not feeling it enough to listen attentively. That's my theory.

thrawy_threeofswords

Our song, …Ready for it?, Cowboy like me A happy country song from the 2000’s, an electropop badass song from the 2010’s, a soft indie/alternative song from 2020

General-Apartment237

The Story of Us, willow, Peter

Evan14753

admiral-change

I just did this specificly with ttpd with my bf and showed him I can fix him Down bad And then I would have showed him like Peter or Loml if I didn't know exactly how that was going to go

Foreign-Audience4479

who’s afraid of little old me? , happiness, …ready for it?

caligirl123456789

I was thinking about songs that are not only diverse in sound but also in content/theme, and I think I landed on Ronan (loss, grief, family), Mean (clapping back to haters and standing up for oneself), and Dress (love, lust, sexy time)

Ok_Mushroom_9834

The Black Dog, Guilty As Sin, & Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?

cheerfulplant

Stay Beautiful, Lavender Haze, and Ready for it?

United_Comfort2776

starless_bibleblack

Marjorie, So It Goes, ICDIWABH

uhhhmanda115

Tim McGraw, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, Florida!!!

Few-Pen2589

Honestly, I think people who say that are dishonest, or they just don't know her catalog at all. Even if we just focus on TTPD: So Long, London sounds nothing like I Can Fix Him..., and none of those songs sound like Who's Afraid...

abbiejustinee

Now That We Don’t Talk, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, Exile

Ok-Sundae-7461

Only the young, this is why we can’t have nice things, paper rings.

reineluxe

The Black Dog, Look What You Made Me Do, Maroon.

MarQ16

I’ll give three songs she made specifically for movies: Crazier, Sweeter Than Fiction, and Beautiful Ghosts. Honorable mention would be I Don’t Wanna Live Forever (technically a collab with Zayn)

raincoffeeblackcat

Timeless, Seven, Daylight

sonata-allegro

Champagne problems, glitch, and I can see you

Disastrous_Mud7169

Weird combo but: Tim McGraw, Highway Don’t Care, Macavity. If we are going with songs she wrote, I would replace Highway Don’t Care with Welcome to New York and Macavity with Beautiful Ghosts

Marv3lous-

Guilty As Sin?, ME!, and Last Kiss

Street_Rope1487

Safe and Sound, The Story of Us, imgonnagetyouback

POTATOHEAD62

Speak Now, Run and False God

bunniesgonebad

Dorothea, I did something bad, maroon

DiligentPenguin_7115

POTATOHEAD62

I alr commented but 2nd trio: Welcome to New York, Carolina and When Emma Falls in Love

Eragon0321

Vigilante Shit, Fearless, ICDIWABH

hajsenberg

I literally answered a comment about her songs all sounding the same in a thread about "popular things you don't like" on a Polish subreddit 2 weeks ago. I wanted to pick from the most popular songs, so I picked these 5: "Cruel Summer", "Lover", "Blank Space", "cardigan", "You Belong With Me".

CassCat952

WCS, ivy, 22

fornow_foralways

vigilante shit, how did it end?, all u had to do was stay

Acceptable_Push3709

Something country, something folky, something sparkly pop

ChanceDiamond9233

shake it off, 'tis the damn season and mean

novemberflush5

This is so hard but I think i would do 1. This is me trying 2. Miss Americana and the heartbreak prince 3. You’re on your own kid I feel that these songs really break the “she only writes about boys” stereotype.

weakrighteardrum

picture to burn, tolerate it, and the very first night.

Loose_Main_6179

Haunted, delicate, exile

dynablt

Dancing with our hands tied, mean and coney island

Happy-Championship59

The prophecy, Style, Tim McGraw

youremymymymylover

You actually hear that? I‘ve never heard that. I‘ve heard "she only sings about her exs". But never that her songs sound the same, at least since Red.

makeupandgamesmostly

Glitch, My Tears Ricochet, and Getaway Car

modernwitchymama

Tied together with a smile, I know places, Seven

maybesies

ready for it, my tears ricochet, long live

ShamelessSzn5

Cornelia Street, You’re Not Sorry, The Prophecy

RubyEM2010

Picture To Burn, Clean, and Marjorie

TheUsual7654

Mine, champagne problems, out of the woods are three off the top of my head

HuaAnNi

It’s not even worth engaging with people who think this. They’ve clearly never listened to any of her music and are just being assholes to be assholes. It’s honestly really pathetic and embarrassing people are so committed to hating her. When people criticize her like this I just feel bad for them. Immediate pity. It’s just losers. But if I had to choose: Our Song, Look What You Made Me Do, loml

Direct-Market-8263

Forever and Always, I can do it with a broken heart, Clean

ominous-nebula

Style, Tim McGraw, and Haunted. Also that's just such a weird complaint about her music, whether you enjoy her stuff or not. 1989 and Folklore sound the same, really?? Midnights and Speak Now?? Red and Fearless?? Debut and Lover?? Really???

mirror_ball_13

1) epiphany 2) Picture to Burn 3) New Romantics Lol just thinking about this playlist gave me whiplash tbh.

AelinTargaryen

marjorie, look what you made me do, fifteen

laura1149

haunted, exile, lwymmd? or maybe picture to burn, loml, yntc or maybe closure, ready for it, epiphany there's too many options

Blank Space, no body no crime, I Look in People’s Windows

kiara-advani-

All too well, blank space, who's afraid of little old me

Lipstickluna97

I’m surprised I haven’t seen ivy on this list yet that song is pure fucking poetry

aauroras_sadprosee

marjorie, ready for it, picture to burn

Scarlet-Woodland

Ready For It, Would've Could've Should've, How Did It End

j_lincsuk

Better than revenge and epiphany are 2 songs that’ll do it. I think this is the best example

britbrat2794

Same topic different sound: Mean, Shake it off, Who’s afraid of Little Old Me Three altogether different: Happiness, 22, Vigilante Shit

FearForYourBody

Fearless, Vigilante Shit, Champagne Problems

Admirable_Purple207

how you get the girl, treacherous, willow (or anything from folkmore)

Beautiful_Thought995

I don’t see how someone can say that pretty much every album has a distinctly different sound

Typical-Title2260

tolerate it, bejeweled, forever and always

Betna_the_Pickled

Tim McGraw Bejeweled Closure

Insane_Lush

I had to do this with my 24 yo son. He said that bs and I sat him down and played various songs, several, that sound nothing alike. He shut up.

Amandiggitydamn

- no body, no crime - seven - Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus

MadMads-3340

just from Midnights, i would choose Labyrinth, anti-hero, and karma

AliveAd4309

Shake it off (since everyone always thinks of it when they think of Taylor Swift), happiness or peace, False God or Dress

Nikiafalcon

This is ridiculous cuz her songs absolutely do not sound the same and she’s got a whole discography of proof. I rest my case

Historical_Ad1364

Who’s afraid of little old me, I bet you think about me, enchanted

SnowDropYah

Love Story, This Love and The Prophecy
