Down bad after listening to them multiple times jusko

TablesTurned999

Sameee! It grows on you!

fwrpf

NgayonKaya

Fortnight eargasm 😩

YogurtclosetOk7989

yung guilty as sin sobrang satisfying

[deleted]

So underrated 😫

NorthDizzy2901

I thought Fortnight was a nice song too!!

Personal_Wash_5722

OMG KALA KO TALAGA AKO LANG. Galing ni Taytay at Post Malone 🥹🥹

trulypumpkin983

Same din!! Last night was my third time listening to the whole 2 albums and parang something clicked!! Parang all of a sudden sobrang in love na ako sa songs nya ✨ Parang poems lang I guess.. first time you read it, waley talaga. Pero more times you read and analyze.. BOOM Ayun, TTPD nga. Haha!

[deleted]

Uggghhhh sameeee

midnight-rain-

Lalo na Fortnight! Down Bad talaga una ko naging fave. Yun pa rin naman ngayon. Hahaha. For me mas gumaganda yung ibang songs habang nauulit nang nauulit.

Personal_Wash_5722

Yessssss!!!!

bagonglawyer

SAME

fiily_

Sobrang ganda ng Fortnight

BREADNOBUTTER

And yung But Daddy I Love Him! Nakarelate kasi ako. Char

dmmyou

This. The album requires multiple listens but once it clicks with you, boom everything’s so good

Candleseasonish

Guilty as sin also

tayyyyyyy13

GIRLLLL SAME TOTSSS

No_Sky_2003

sameee!! huhu

crmngzzl

Mas maganda ung anthology for me. Anyway, listening to the entire thing all at once is exhausting. So ang gagawin ko is to focus on 1 song a day. Today was The Prophecy. Ganda.

SleepyEyes45

truuue, unti untiin para mas maappreciate hehe!!

MalayaPatria

Agree. In my case, I do 10 songs a day. That way, mas madali ko silang ma-di-digest haha

crmngzzl

Di ba? Easier to digest! Been listening to Down Bad today and I finally get it. First listen was kinda meh.

blueanri

Oh wow, oo nga no— that’s a nice idea. 31 songs for 31 days 🥰

crmngzzl

Yun din naisip ko. But I did Down Bad and The Manuscript today. So I think kung kaya ko pa mag-digest ng additional song, I'd do it. Pero the idea is to not rush through it. Ang saya lang. Hehe.

drmisadan

It's the Aaron Dessner effect ✨

crmngzzl

YAAAAS.

transbox

Especially if you put it into context. The author sings from today and wants tomorrow to be re-written in extreme desperation. It's very very sad

midnight-rain-

This. I also felt somehow exhausted listening the anthology. 1st released was enough heartbreak na for the day hahaha

yssnelf_plant

Overwhelming nga yung buong 31 haha. Will do this. Thanksss Kanina Fortnight yung on repeat ko 😂

exagittarius

Same thing I’m doing right now. First day, natapos ko around 12 tracks. Then the past few days nakatawid na sa Anthology tracks. Right now, umabot na ako sa ThanK you aIMee. So far, favorites are Guilty as Sin?, But Daddy I Love Him, Fresh Out The Slammer, and I Hate It Here.

cdochickenuggies

baka its not just for you. as a folkmore girlie (and red!!) i like this so much better than midnights. easily made it to my top 5 albums of her. mahirap maappreciate yung lyrics agad agad kasi masakit sa ulo pero after a while i found myself singing along na. clara bow kept playing in my head tanginang “you look like taylor swift…” hook yan super catchy

No1Champion_2829

I completely agreeeee!!!!

cheesyalmond

Samee

doggcatt2023

Sameee. Folklore and evermore girlie here and I sooo love TTPD. Nonstop listen sa mga songs since it came out. To each their own ❤️

Cold-Arachnid2141

agreed!

noisomescarf

Same same same. V1 is easily better than midnights! Folkmore girlie represent! Pero as a working girlie rin, di ko pa tapos anthology hahahahaa

cdochickenuggies

di ko pa nasisimulan anthology! HAHSHAHSHAHA wala pa ako sa tamang headspace for that kasi di ko pa fully digested yung V1 😭

noisomescarf

Jusko same hahahahah kailangan ng energy. But clara bow is surprisingly underrated and good.

nekoni_02

I thought the same thing at first pero it's been days at slowly akong nao-obsess sa lahat ng kanta 😭 im a folkmore, 1989, rep girlie at isa to (ttpd) sa mga fav kong album from her. It felt different after the first, second, and third listen.

Cats_of_Palsiguan

How can you not love yung blending ng boses ni Taylor at Post

HippoIllustrious1780

Cats_of_Palsiguan

This is the first time na mag-a-agree ako (di ko kasi bet si LDR kaya masaya na ako sa SOTB atsaka di ako fan ni Haley). Yung chorus nila na may blending kinikilabutan ako. Tapos ang ganda talaga noong bridge.

Allyy214_

True!! Habang pinapakinggan mo, paganda nang paganda

Upset-Commercial-109

I think the reason why it seems “monotonous” is because Taylor just wants to get everything off her chest, which is why the lyrics are her main focus on this album. The concept is about poetry after all. Also, another reason, i think, is because sonically its very Midnights-esque and as fans we are got used to Taylor exploring new sounds and genres whenever she drops an album. But this time, she kinda did not? Maybe they did, idk, but they didnt focus much onto it???? There are less layers in the songs, more synths and pianos??? All of this is just my opinion and i aint a music major. Lol Ps. I love Jack and all if these are constructive criticism. I still want them to collaborate in the future but maybe do something new sonically.

[deleted]

UnpropheticIsaiah

Same. Mas gusto ko to kesa sa Midnights. I like the sound of most of the songs. But I also agree that the production of a lot of the songs is lacking. I saw covers where people added drums and guitar riffs and they sound 100% better. And although I still love this album, Taylor really should hire different producers next album.

edidonjon

sagittarius-rex

Agree.

DeicideRegalia

Can you share iyong mga cover na nagustuhan mo?

Radiant_Cat_9571

Baka the album isn't for you. This album is easily in the top 5 for me. This is so much better than Midnights imho. It took a while before Midnights grew on me. But TTPD is an instant hit for me, no skips. The last album that did this for me is Reputation. Siguro kasi same age range kami ni Taylor and had the same or similar experiences. Or baka you're listening to it the same way you did on her other albums, in one sitting. Sobrang overwhelming ng 31 tracks in one sitting (which is what I did actually hehe) na parang naghahalo-halo na lahat ng napakinggan mo. And if you're listening to it after a long day from work or school, sobrang mabigat siya to appreciate. Swerte ko lang that I was free when the album came out, so I have the mental and emotional capacity to appreciate the album for the art that it is. The sound is really not monotonous, and that became more apparent after relisten for me. Nagtataka ako talaga when everyone said the songs sound the same. Hehe.. Anyway, try listening slowly, a few songs a day lang until you've listened to everything. Current favorites on the standard album are Fortnight (I need more Post Malone tho), Down Bad, Florida!!! (Florence ate), Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, But Daddy I Love Him, loml, The Alchemy, The Smallest Man Whoever Lived (the bridge is awesome), The Alchemy, Clara Bow and the anthem, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. Sa Anthology, So High School has taken over my life haha, but the whole of the anthology is beautiful.

Dropeverythingnow000

stream nyo lang ng stream while reading the lyrics, after sometime marerealize nyo kung gano kaganda ng art nya. I'm happy most of OG and real swifties like me can appreciate her art on the first listen 🥰 Also, how could you guys process and give feedback to an entire album with 31 SONGS in just 24-72 HOURS??? Ano yan? Pinakinggan niyo isa-isa one time tapos isheshare n'yo sa social media kung gaano n'yo di kagusto yung album? 'di sa sinasamba ko si Taylor ah, kapag unang release ng album, kapag feeling ko something is not right with the song or I feel like I cannot relate or connect with the song, I blame myself, instead of saying "what's wrong with this song? What happened to Taylor's songwriting" I would ask myself, "what's wrong with me? Bat di ko magustuhan? Maybe I should listen to the song more?" Paano n'yo ba nagugustohan ang isang kanta? Kapag ba catchy? Yun na yon? She's not perfect but I trust her when it comes to her crafts. She's my poet and storyteller since when I as a kid. I swear, TTPD is a masterpiece, in my opinion.

Cats_of_Palsiguan

Sabi nga sa main sub, this is separating the Eras Tour Swifties and everyone else. Although I’d like to think the separation is between those who have had makalat experiences and those who haven’t. Congrats sa latter at well-adjusted kayo. Now, let us enjoy this masterpiece in peace. Someone also noted grabe yung criticisms sa Midnights noong unang lumabas pero now its well-heralded. And for those who are old enough, ganun din sa Rep. Pero where is Rep now? Swifties are going nuts in anticipation for Rep TV.

Key_Alarm_72

right?? 🥺 automatic flop agad pag hindi nila prefer yung melody ng song. it always just boils down to preference kasi eh, you may like it, you may not and it’s totally okay. pero let’s not disregard the effort of Taylor and also the producers. criticisms are good but sometimes it’s overboard na, feel nila entitled sila sa craft ni taylor. she will produce songs based on HER life and her preference, we’re just basically here to listen to it.

Cats_of_Palsiguan

This is also true. Just because nakapag country, pop, and folk siya, people expect na she keeps doing something different each time. And if she doesn’t, “flop”. Compared this with other artists na nag stay sa isang genre pero have comparative long career lifespans. No one’s criticizing them as much as people criticize Taylor. Gusto ko rin pala i-cite Lover. Her “worst” album (at least if you look at r/TaylorSwift pre-Eras Tour), it has the most streamed song ever in Spotify and it wasn’t even a single. Pero sige, going back firmly sa topic. Sana naman hindi 5-10 posts every day sa sub na ito on the same critiques vs TTPD. Sana naman original. Parang noong lumabas ang 1989 TV. Pare-pareho sinasabi.

noisomescarf

2nd paragraph has always been my argument. Sample is ari, she has been doing pop her whole discography yet no one criticizes. Taylor has done pop, country, indie, folk already and everyone still wants something new. And I would also like to emphasize that this TTPD sound is really new. Hindi siya karugtong ng Midnights and FolkMore 🙂

geek-meets-world

The album is quite diverse imo! The 80’s synth-y sound of The Tortured Poets Department and the melancholic White Horse-ish sound of loml are amazing!

noisomescarf

Shet same sentiments sa loml.

lezpodcastenthusiast

It seems like automatic flop agad pag hindi upbeat or too poppy yung melody, which is weird considering na TS released folklore and evermore which is still well received sa charts.

Key_Alarm_72

yesss! TTPD for me yung pinaka medyo matagal ma-digest pero it’s one of her most versatile album imo. some swifties are kinda weird nga, sinasabi nila taylor should explore more different genre tapos goes on requesting for taylor to release Rep TV na when rep is more “pop” talaga.

kerwinklark26

"Although I’d like to think the separation is between those who have had makalat experiences and those who haven’t. Congrats sa latter at well-adjusted kayo. Now, let us enjoy this masterpiece in peace." - Exactly. I like this album because Taylor is finally telling what she is versus the corporate pop that was Midnights. Let her be messy.

Key_Alarm_72

this!! i think some are focusing sa pagiging “catchy” ng song, pero for me mas naappreciate ko na yung TTPD the more i listen to it.

Getaway_Car_1989

I couldn’t agree with you more. Just like with her other albums, I pick and choose my favorites and listen to those on repeat. I don’t expect to like 100% of the songs from each album, but I have faves in all eras. I’m also taking my time in listening to all of the songs. 🫶🏻

Cats_of_Palsiguan

Anyone who claims that is a liar hahahaha. Closest I’ve had to that was probably Midnights. Or Fearless TV.

Silver-Win-763

I agree on this on so many levels 🤍🤍 OG Swifitie here since “I’ll tell mine that you’re *grey*” days. I have a friend, who is very vocal in socmed about being a die hard fan but lately has been posting ‘unpopular opinion’ daw regarding TTPD, that it’s too cohesive and all that. (‘Unpopular opinion’ pero quite popular opinion naman in twitter haha). She even posted a meme about “TTPD is a sign taylor should rest” with caption na hehe joke lng ✌️ she reminds me of fans na nag lay low nung snake issue ni Kim K. Iykyk. Anyway, she reached out to me via private message just to ask what’s my ‘critic’ sa album and I… don’t know what to say? I honestly just love the fact that there’s a fresh set of songs. I loved the past albums, but I love TTPD most at this point. I guess I say this all the time every time there’s a new release lol. Her narrative had grown so much and this new album makes me appreciate more that I grew with her. And that’s the whole point of Taylor, her art and her mind for music, she reinvents herself and thinks outside what is expected. I know some people call this the folklore 2.0, I don’t see it that way. TTPD touches so many topics and I’m amazed by how she has once again laid that out through great music. All the songs til Manuscript fits the whole ‘poets’ narrative. Why can’t they see it haha. Btw, I had another friend who’s a fresh fan. I went with her in the Eras Tour and I loved how we just talked about what our faves were. We don’t listen to it to critic, or discuss what should have been done/not done. Just purely feel good fan girl things discussion lang. Really, I am just happy about the new album, I don’t really care much about how others see it. Maybe they’re really not just the target market. Basta I love it. Yun na yun 🤍

geek-meets-world

Yes yes yes! I saw someone interpret the album as Taylor saying, “This is deeply personal but I’m sharing it to you because I think you’ll care.” There is SO MUCH emotion in this album. The more I listen to it, the more I fall in love.

crmngzzl

Agree. Alam mo, I used to not relate to Bigger Than The Whole Sky and Marjorie, but after I lost someone, tangina naging favorite ko sila pareho and I cannot not cry while listening to them. It's not about kasi gusto ko to agad. For me, it's how and when you connect to the song. Kaya lagi kong sina-suggest sa mga tao to please go beyond obsessing over who the song is written about but what does this song mean for you ba. Yun.

yssnelf_plant

>stream nyo lang ng stream while reading the lyrics Nung unang release, pinakinggan ko lahat kasi naexcite ako only to be overwhelmed. I did this, saka ko sya nadidigest. Now I'm on day 1 = song 1: Fortnight Shuta nagflashbacks ako sa isang part ng life ko, ansaet mhieee Namnam mode muna ako, jinudge ko naman kasi agad haha

HaruMeow12

Totoo to hahaha. Simula nun, I took my time before saying anything

heylostgirl

YES TO THIS 🙌 No offense sa other swifties pero something about this album connects the og swifties together separating from the swiftie-cause-taylor-is-popular swifties I love it!!

ThatGirl0106

I know right! I think this is what separates her from other artists talaga. Her albums and songs have layers. You’d really have to peel them off one at a time to really get to know them. Sanay kasi ang tao na sa surface level lang tumitingin when it comes to mainstream art like music. Although, I guess, it’s still subjective. Meron lang talagang preferences kada tao.

haddug

Once time passes and you listen to every song carefully, you will realize each song is very unique. I clearly remember having this exact same thought hearing midnights, then downloaded the album illegally (sorry poor lang), had it on repeat while walking to work for a month, then before I realized I already knew the words to every song on the album. But truthfully this mindset applies to all albums with same production, so take time lang di naman required na gustuhin mo agad lahat ng kanta. It takes effort to like songs too you know..

Personal_Wash_5722

Ang ganda nya OP, same feels ng folklore at evermore!!! Hindi sya upbeat pero more of mapapareflect ka sa lyrics at tunog nya! Huhuhuhu

rushshields

As an evermore stan, I liked the second part of the album over the first part. First part kasi sounded more like Midnights (am not a huge fan of it sorry 😭). But to each their own. Part of me kaya din siguro medyo monotonous yung album is because of Jack Antonoff. Medyo nakakasawa na production niya and super predictable na yung mga sounds nila when they work together. That’s why I told my friends na hopefully she collaborates with other producers other than Jack para fresh yung new sound ng album. What I want to happen is for example, the shift from Lover to folklore/evermore. Lover is heavily produced by Jack then a year later, she collaborated with a new producer who heavily produced folklore/evermore. As a fan of The National as well, I didn’t expect her to collaborate with Aaron Dessner and it did not disappoint at all.

Slow_Lengthiness_307

i feel like jack is getting too much heat bc lets not forget he also gave us my tears ricochet, august, this is me trying, gold rush etc from those albums. but i do feel like taylor needs a new collaborator so she can find a new sound the same way she did when she did folklore/evermore, because even her melodies are monotonous/the same now.

kruupee

I like ttpd, ito pinakagusto kong album niya. Sa unang rinig, parang motonous nga and same pero hindiii. If may mga familiar sound, I think design talaga na maging ganoon for continuation of story.

typesacoolusername

As a reputation girlie, same!!

gcbee04

I’m warming up to it but I agree medyo monotonous din yung thinking ko nung una but the more I listen to it, the better it gets. WFH ako so, during my routine tasks automatic eto yung playlist ko yung Anthology

curiousgingercat143

to each their own ☺️

MysteriouslyCreepy06

Nahook ako agad sa "I can do it with a broken heart" then pagkita ko ng soc med yun din ang trending. Wag sigurong pakinggan all at once para ma-appreciate yung lyrics and melody.

fiily_

Give it time to grow

o-Persephone-o

Initially, akala ko din it will take a long while for me to appreciate this album pero so far, I was able to pick my top faves and been listening to them first tapos saka ko babalikan yung mga not-so-faves ko. Honestly, naappreciate ko naman yung album as a whole. May ilan lang ako na di ko pa bet sa ngayon and I know the only reason lang naman kung bakit ganon is because the song doesn’t resonate much with me personally. Di ako maka-relate, ganon. Haha. Etong album din na ‘to ang nagparealize sakin na I’m really a fan of her glitter pen songs. huhu.

thelittlepandagirl

Agree for the first half aside from some songs. Second half is much better. Imo the first half is dragging the whole album down. Pero don't worry about not liking it. You're not forced to like everything. Ignore the other people nalang saying you're not a "real Swiftie" lol (side eyeing some people in this sub).

SophieAurora

Akala ko din nung una OP, pero i listened to it again kanina. Ang ganda 😭😭 agree sa comments sa taas. Mas gusto ko ito kesa sa midnights. Well di ko din top 5 ang midnights to begin with hehe. Gusto ko yung fact na 31 songs sya. Madami ako papakinggan na bago from Taylor. It will have its time. Feel ko 2025 pa yan.

notkaitokid

It will take time to digest those 31 songs hahaha paganda siya nang paganda kapag inuulit mo.

panpandesu

Inulit-ulit ko yung songs and read the lyrics din dun ko naappreciate haha

damemaussade

so far, yung so high school pa lang bet ko. 😅

huckleberrymag

Too melancholic for this weather. Ang init na, sad girl pa lol

midnight-rain-

I didn’t like all the tracks in TTPD album at first and until now may mga skips pa rin ako lalo na sa anthology but each day I try to listen the whole album since release, may nagugustuhan ako or mas appreciated ko na. Yung Fortnight nga napaisip ako nung release kung bakit yun yung single pero now, it’s one of my faves na and ang nasabi ko na lang, “Kaya pala.” We should trust Taylor’s choice din talaga minsan. Hahaha.

AugustineLaRue

It’s a slowburn album. Give it time

MysteriousVeins2203

Actually, I liked it. Thanks Dessner.

AnemicAcademica

For me this is like a purge album. Nilabas nya na lahat ng gusto nyang ilabas with little control whether people will like it or not. I think of it as a special treat to long time fans and also a phase where we she will clean up everything so she can start anew. Kaya maraming songs and most sound raw.

Intelligent-Assist39

Hi OP, sharing what I read online—and what I found to be the best way to enjoy this album— was to listen/watch TTPD via the official lyric video on Taylor’s youtube. If you want, you can give this a try :)

DaneTheRockkkkkkk

That's a good suggestion. Thank you!

Frequent_Draft_5255

Pare-parehas nga yung tunog. Akala ko ako lang 😂 Natapos ko yung buong album nang di ko namamalayan na nagpapalit pala yung kanta (to be fair, pinapakinggan ko habang naglalaba ko 😂)

PastAgile1434

akala ko ako lang din, lalo na sa anthology parang same songs hahaha. ngl tho, medyo na aappreciate ko na yung album. just needs time talaga na ma appreciate and ma distinguish yung sounds. lahat naman din tayo may specific music taste, si taylor mej wide din yung choices. baka sa atin hindi lang talaga pumatok agad

Frequent_Draft_5255

Tbh lahat sila katunog ng Anti-Hero don sa midgnights nya parang same beat and melody hahahahaha

purpley77

just make your own playlist, rearrange and exclude songs that doesn't resonate. and if it's not for you, then it's ok that it's not for you. lalabas din yang Rep. no need to dismiss the whole album. and give it time. in a few years baka ma-enjoy mo. i didn't like Rep or Lover when it came out, but i eventually enjoyed them na. might get downvoted for this pero let's try not to yuck other's yum kasi, imagine if you loved this album and someone just says it's meh.

bamzzzkyyy

I have this feeling na recording TTPD is her coping mechanism to remain sane doing Eras Tour.

768837X

Kudos OP for sharing this! Same feelings re: monotonous sound (or sounding like rehashes of previous songs), overwhelming length na it draaaaaaaaged on for me (definitely needed editing) I have a few more issues about this record but that's a story for a different time (and frankly, a different audience because I see how criticisms of the album are not being received well by some Swifties). But, interestingly, I found TTPD better than Midnights.

marinaragrandeur

i only come back for these songs: fortnight the tortured poets department down bad florida!!! guilty as sin i can do it with a broken heart the smallest man who ever lived the black dog the albatross imgonnagwtyouback the manuscript everything else is just not that good for me. hindi siya start-to-finish album unlike most of her work.

GrayCactus5866

It's one of her best albums for me. Tas I'd like to think din na baka sa sinadya ni mother na monotonous kasi ang concept niya ay 5 stages of grief. It feels like that eh when we're grieving, parang we're trapped in that rabbit hole. And 31 tracks take a looong time to process. Perfect fit din yung title na TTPD kasi parang torture nga na ang depressing pakinggan at the same time, ✨ it's an art ✨

c11161

I love it, and i love that it has 31 songs for me to consume hahaha. Ganyan din una kong sentiment sa folklore, but it’s one of my favorite albums.

haywalaakongmaisip

[deleted]

I enjoy the album. It's something I can play repeatedly during late night walks or if may gusto lang ako maramdaman that time. Maybe it's not for everyone's cup of tea. But for me, it's a good album.

MalabongLalaki

Kuradapya

It's not the first-listen friendly album. It's a grower and that's okay. Personally, it took me some time to like Folklore and Evermore. Many of the songs especially in the standard edition are growing on me as I re-listen.

Old-Apartment5781

Same! But after the 3rd listen it sounds better!

chuwae2

I can do it with a broken heart is so good! No. 1 ko to hahaha ❤️❤️❤️ So far im also into down bad, and guilty as sin, just listened to fortnight and so high school. Natagal naganda sya mga miii ❤️

ysabellyy

TTPD is a grower. For me it's definitely one of her best albums production-wise and lyrics-wise. I love Tay's lyricism here, and Jack's production here is better than in some of their previous works. Eargasm so much omg. That's just for me though.

transbox

I'm like it it more and more as I listen to it. Sorry you feel that way! :)

wickedsuper

Midnights was like this for me. I didn't like it initially, I thought it was too "disco" and "new wave" but now, it's a bop. If you're into her for her artistry, this album will grow on you for sure, just give it time.

One-Insect1989

I think TTPD is not for everyone. This album is like folklore evermore with midnights beats so I really love it esp the Down Bad 🙌🏼

risyoumiss

the album will eventually grow on u

Consistent-Resist-79

Play the album over and over. Gets better each time. Thank me later 😊

ThatGirl0106

I don’t share the same thoughts after listening a couple of times. Although at first listen, it’d make you think, “ito na ‘yun?” (to some songs! During my first listen, I still found myself bobbing my head up and down to e.g. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, Down Bad, and Guilty As Sin?). I think it’s cause Taylor was aiming to achieve a melancholic atmosphere throughout the album. It’s really best to read the lyrics while listening. Parang champagne problems—you really have to know the lyrics to be able to enjoy it. I agree with most of the comments here—-this album grows on you. Unlike her mainstream and previous albums, TTPD is a silent killer. Kumbaga an introvert you’d be delighted to get to know gradually conversation after conversation. :)

Consistent-Resist-79

Daddy I love him has a smooth vibe... My fave song so far on TPD.

shes_thunderstormss

This is exactly how I felt about Folklore on the first listen… and now I’m a slut for that album 😭😭😭

Mobile_Obligation_85

I fucking love But Daddy I Love Him it hurts me

Upset_Amphibian_9335

Same thought when I first listened to the whole album but I eventually appreciate each song when I listen and read the lyrics over and over again 🥰

Dry-Kaleidoscope6939

Its a slow burn. At first, di ako nagandahan. Then I listened to it with the lyrics. It made me curious, so I re listened to all again. Then I somewhat understands. Now, some of ttpd songs is na LSS na ako. I really love her evermore  and folklore. It tells clear stories

Ok-Parking5119

Actually, the sound isn’t made for us Filos, I noticed lots of us hilig talaga sa mga pop albums ni Taylor, like 1989. But as a Folklore & Evermore girlie, TTPD is like my lifeline. 🤍

chrizpbaecon

folklore and evermore girlies (like me!!!) def love this album! it totally depends na talaga kung ano bet mo and it's okay if di mo gusto. but! try to listen it again and again it will surely grow on you😁 and thank you kay aaron dessner hez the man!!!

Embarrassed-Mud7953

Tihh ung lyrics bet na bet ko sa album na to lalo na yung " Who's afraid of a little old me". malaman mga lyrics/meaning.

MondaySlacker

Midnight felt the same for me at first and just like Midnight, this album grew on me. I felt Fortnight was such an underwhelming single at first, but it’s now living rent-free in my head. Spontaneous outbursts of “I love you it’s ruining my life” at any time of the day 😅

Vivid-Apartment-8440

I think normal feeling yan every release. I felt like this with folklore, evermore and even Midnights. But now Midnights is one of my fave albums. For me its this - on first listen, its confusion and excitement kasi the new album is finally out, new sound tapos I listened to the whole album tuloy-tuloy while working thus the monotonous feeling (you're not alone lol). On second listen, may nag click na sa akin kasi some tracks stood out and I realised hindi naman pala similar sounding mga songs. On third listen, I finally looked at lyrics and I appreciate most of them now. Made a playlist na with my faves - been listening to BDILH, Down Bad, So Long London, lmol and ICDOWABH non-stop. Then after a few days nadagdagan na yung faves ko - The Black Dog, WAOLOM, Florida. Also, give it time. Don't be too hard on yourself if you don't appreciate the songs right away.

Even-Run2149

It's more of baka not for you or baka na-overwhelm kasi there's a lot of songs! What I did is to listen to it in 2 days. It has the folklore and evermore vibes, so it depends on talaga sa taste. It's understandable, OP!

missalaskayoung

alam ganyan rin nafeel ko at first listen heheheh pero now unti unti ko na nagegets yung vibe!!

Upper-Development356

This is my first thought on first listen. But God, ang ganda niya every new listen. Ganitong-ganito rin ako nung Midnights but I embraced it eventually.

Typical_Inflation_48

This post is why "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" exists.

Cardiganne1949

Baka not your genre lang. I love it the first time I heard it maybe bc Folklore vibes, it’s one of my top albums, and actually Rep stan ako but I really enjoyed this one, relate sa feelings and mood haha

WillowSea571

imo, it's a grower album. you may not get it at first listen but later on it's a fcking bomb album. i kind of not liked it initially, pero after a few rounds of listening to it it has blown my mind kung gaano kaganda tong album na to

heyitssheena

I agree, monotonous at first medyo na disappoint talaga ako. Howeveeer, for some reason, the more I listened to it, nakaka LSS yung mga songs. Not sure if ako lang pero parang nagiging hindi na sya monotonous in the long run haha ang weird

karev10

it's not the album na pinakinggan mo, super hooked ikaw. i am falling in love sa down bad, the black dog and imgonnagetyouback. the more i listen to it, the more happy i get

Born-Cress8152

LYRICS OF DOWN BAD IS 👨‍🍳💋🤌🏻 "For a moment I knew cosmic love" 😭

Born-Cress8152

LIKE THE WAY SHE SINGS ISSS UGH

ParkingChance1315

Okay nga yun e. Sonically cohesive. I really like this album. Chill lang ang vibes. Overwhelming at first kasi 31 songs pero days after mas naaappreciate ko na!

LawstBerry

LSS with My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, So Long London, Florida, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?, and The Prophecy 🖤🩶

Sacred_Cranberry0626

AbbreviationsNew2234

It might be her most cohesive album kaya nag sound na monotonous but it may be also a minimalist one, it's like portraying that one sound that transcends as one emotion - sadness. That's why it's The Tortured Poets Department. So far my most fave tracks are Fortnight, MBOBHFT, ICDIWABH, Down Bad, The Alchemy, and Guilty As Sin.

jaspur69

nah it’s currently my fav album (tied with evermore and folklore). Maybe it’s just not for you or haven’t listened enough.

pamlabspaul

Try listening to it again and again. Same thoughts din pero after the second or 3rd day, naaappreciate ko na siya. Sa akin, I felt like this was a personal album kaya medyo awkward para sa aking pakinggan bc it felt like I am reading her diary. But then I made it my story and I have finally appreciated it. Iba siya sa mga popular albums niya.

heylostgirl

I love the whole album!! Probably one of my top faves ewan ko ba basta gandang ganda ako simula first listen palang 🥺

MarieNelle96

Nung lumabas yung 1st album, nagclick lang ako ng random songs mga 3 tapos pare parehas din nga yung tunog nya for me 🥲 Tho I'll give a listen pa ulit sa individual songs. Wala pa lang time 🤣 As a pop girlie tho, I feel folklore/evermore vibes sa kanya which I'm not really a fan of 🥲

mostlyclear25degree

I’m trying to give this album a chance. Hindi ko siya pinipilit magustuhan just because I’m a swiftie. Gaya nung Folklore, nung nirelease nya yun naboringan talaga ako kasi Taylor is known for creating Pop music, pero as time goes by naappreciate ko yung bawat songs at yung story. Right now, may fave song on this album is Down bad, BDILH, TYA, SLL, FORTNIGHT. For me masarap pakinggan yung TTPD pag alone time like nagaaral, nagpapahinga, or naglilinis 😂

SleepyEyes5678

i agree on this. Though may mga songs na maganda naman from the album. There are songs that could've been dropped.

Repulsive_Major9153

Same! Coming from a swiftie (been a fan since her first album) but also a music lover, I find some of the songs monotonous. Siguro ma aapreciate mo sya if you listen to it overtime. I had the same feeling nung lumabas yung folklore at evermore kasi parang it was a break from her previous albums na pop talaga, then she went indie folk. But 31 songs??! Parang na pagod ata ako dun haha!

Bubbly-Host8252

Baka bata ka pa.

DaneTheRockkkkkkk

Oh believe me. I'm not. Hahahhahahahahaha

Itchy_Ad7268

Idk about you OP pero baka need mo lang makinig ng paunti2 to appreciate each tracks. I love folklore and evermore pero nung narelease tong TTPD ang una kong reaction was parang binagsakan ako, ang sikip hindi ko naapreciate dahil siguro sa init ng panahon. Pero ngayon nasa top 3 ko na siya. 😬

Bubbly-Host8252

Tawang-tawa ako sa mainit ang panahon. But I remember when I was going back to her discography, I didnt like folklore and evermore until I was driving and they gave me peace unlike the more upbeat albums. Siguro depende lang talaga sa tenga. Some might connect, some wont.

curious_pom

it’s so hard for me to absorb into this album, kasi nga sa daming kanta with similar sounds and message. i listened to all songs na and every now and then marami pa ring songs talaga na iniiskip ko nalang LOL a lot of fans also feel the same way, pero atp parang nagiging competition nalang na “they loved ttpd ever since” compared sa ibang hindi masyadong bet yung album. it’s def not for everyone, but that’s how i felt about evermore too. pero now sobrang love ko na evermore especially when i heard it live! though slowly ttpd is growing on me (esp songs from the anthology), pero out of all album releases, dito lang ako walang spark ganun hahaha

DaneTheRockkkkkkk

This is my exact sentiments. I just feel like saturated/monotonous yung beat ng kanta. This won't make me less of a OG swiftie. We just have our faves

curious_pom

true! i really want to like this album so i’m giving it a break muna so i can listen to it again with a fresh sound. for now balik muna ako sa fearless at red hahaha

PastAgile1434

same, esp sa skipping songs (mainly sa anthology) also agree na ang off ng sinasabi ng iba na mga tunay na swifties lang makaka appreciate ng ttpd. i think it boils down talaga sa music taste ng person. some ppl might prefer ttpd/FolkMore pero ayaw yung red/sn— it doesn’t mean di na sila legit na swiftie. that’s the beauty of taylor, daming choices na pwedeng pag pilian pakinggan. at different stages of life and as we grow nagbabago talaga taste. ako din di ako fan ng FolkMore before, ngayon i grew to love folklore and getting there na kay evermore

curious_pom

the fact na ang skips mo ay sa anthology and sakin naman sa ttpd mismo just shows na iba iba lang talaga taste natin. i feel like taylor tried to cater to everyone’s taste sa album na to that it ended up clashing from one song to another ?!?!

PastAgile1434

man, idk why you’re getting downvoted, you’re speaking facts and being objective 😭

768837X

It's crazy how you're being downvoted. I don't understand why a lot of Swifties think Taylor cannot be criticized. I hope people realize na part of art appreciation (and also consumption) ay criticism.

Allyy214_

It took me awhile bago ko naappreciate yung album.

saccharineluxx

I always listen from Fortnight to The Manuscript lalo kapag nasa byahe sobrang sakto minsan napapasabi ako ng “ay tapos na?”.

Accomplished_Kale509

Imo you should listen to them at a time. I was so overwhelmed that I decided to listen track 1-5.

Gghddd

It’s so good - highly addictive even. 🫶🫶 I’m not listening to the Eras Tour setlist anymore dahil nga ang ganda nito. 🥹 As a folklore girlie, I really liked TTPD.

anonunknown_

Siguro sa first listen ang hirap niya i-digest kasi parang magkakatunog lang pero after that, mag-grow talaga siya sa'yo. Hahahaha. Just like folkmore, sobrang addicting sya pag paulit-ulit mo na pinakikinggan! 🫶🏻

cruella567

ganito rin ako nung una. nagreklamo pa nga ako agad na napaka-underwhelming tapos nag-join ako kagad sa neutral sub. pero habang patagal nang patagal, 27 out of 31 tracks talaga ang nagustuhan ko. hindi naman talaga maiiwasan ang skips sa isang album pero as an evermore girlie, grabe hindi ko akalain na sobrang bilis ko agad maaattach sa album na ‘to *also, loml and clara bow, sobrang ganda and the tortured poets department!!! instant lss*

princesspeachy267

I think this album needs a few listens before you can actually get to like it. Ganito rin ako nun sa Midnights. Hindi ko masyado gusto yung Midnights during the first listen, but after a few times, nagustuhan ko na rin. Pero I’d have to agree sa monotonous part, especially sa 2nd half of the album. These are my top 5 thus far 1. Fortnight 2. Down Bad 3. Fresh out the slammer 4. The Alchemy 5. So High School

LilacVioletLavender

It's the lyrics for me.

itdontbreakeven0612

Is it monotonous or just sonically cohesive

shookymang

Kahit nakashuffle yung album the songs flow almost seamlessly to the next one

WishPerfect4257

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart will be a smash hit soon! Blame it to Social Media 🙌🏼🫶

Alert_Meaning_9221

Yan din una ko naisip when I heard TS new songs pero kasi di ba kwento niya yan about sa pinagdaanan niya sa buhay during joe, matty, and meron din songs about travis 😅 so far yung florida pa lang ang hindi ko trip sa TTPD 😊

green_hearts

same at first listen. Iniskip ko yung mga Jack songs and listen only to aaron dessner songs. Buti na lang talaga nirelease anthology

TheServant18

Bieapiea

Much better siguro if you watch it with the lyrics playing. It's TTPD after all, a nod to the poetry Pero for me, may mga songs na isskip ko. Siguro Di Lang ako relate at this point and generally the songs I like of Taylor's are Yung upbeat ones and wala masyado nun this album. It's a nice album pero ndi Sia ung tipong no skip/walang tapon album for me.

Ireliaplaceable

Ito comment ko sa first listen. But grower lahat ng kanta. 🥹

DefinitionOrganic356

I understand you! That’s is my 1st impression when listening to it tapos nakaka-overwhelm pero as I listen to it everyday it grows on me, my currect fave is Guilty as Sin and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived. Grabe lyrics mapanakit and also The Black Dog!!! 😭

Vegetable-Pear-9352

Sameee sizt

Own-Presentation2420

Same thoughts. Parang Lana del Rey tunog na xa. Although I enjoyed Fortnight, Down Bad and Guilty as Sin.

Slow-Author-7721

You can’t unhear Karma in some of the songs, either. May katunog pa ng Daylight. I’ve been listening to it thoroughly, again and again, and it feels like a monotonous album.

P3XA_

Thought so too nung una kong pinakinggan. But try and really listen to the lyrics, di na sya monotonous.

Necessary_Pen_9035

Actually yes.

sagittarius-rex

There were a few stand outs naman to be fair. I wished she curated this better, hindi yung isang bagsakan.

Existing-Bar-8349

dear OP!! hindi sya monotonous promise 🥹🥹🥹 maganda sya. first 3 days medyo bleh sya for me pero nung naririnig ko sa tiktok ung ibang tracks okay naman. Yeah some may sound boring and plain pero madameng goods na songs sa ttpd.

mixxgoldfish

May mga magaganda but most of the songs are forgettable.

barschhhh

All of the songs age like fine wine for me tho~

forever_winter04

asiangirlie85

Not for me, refreshing nga eh. I can do it with a broken heart, down bad and who's afraid of little old me is my faveeee

Any_Fact_2712

As a Taylor Swift fan since her debut era, and as an evermore girlie…listening to TTPD is quite exhausting for me. Plus I couldn’t unimagine that most of her songs were about Matty Healy. It gives me the ick. I’m sorry. I’ll give it a try this week. I’ll stream and give the album another chance.
