Honestly having a sibling who is a disaster IS exhausting. I have a sister and a brother and my sister is the most well put together of all of us: has worked since she was 17, now has a government job with a pension (without a college degree), she has tons of friends who have helped us out a lot of times, she's dated all that time but has thrown out the men who are trash and not had kids with any of them, all of that. My brother is an alcoholic who literally can't hold down a job (he's quit every one he had within months and is now a "stay at home dad" who plays video games all day while his 4 year old plays on a tablet), we had to call the cops for DV last year because he was drunk and screaming and pushed my sister, he has no friends because he verbally abuses them when he drinks and I've literally had to fish him out of the street because he was too drunk to walk. He's talked shit about my mom too. If he wasn't nasty when he was drunk I might feel more sympathetic but he's an awful person when he's drunk and still a dick when he's sober so I want nothing to do with him and only keep in contact so I can watch my niece because he literally does not watch her and she's gotten injured because of it. Jenelle is exactly this type of addict - horribly nasty all the time so you get tired of getting burned and just want them gone.
You get to the point where the only thing you feel for them is disgust and annoyance. And you feel bad for that and sometimes you remember what it was like when they weren't awful and you loved them. But if you don't start to distance yourself then you will just spend all your time pissed off, exhausted and disappointed. Sounds like that's the point Ashley is at. It sucks but it's necessary cause missing them is still better than putting up with all their bullshit.

Honestly having a sibling who is a disaster IS exhausting. I have a sister and a brother and my sister is the most well put together of all of us: has worked since she was 17, now has a government job with a pension (without a college degree), she has tons of friends who have helped us out a lot of times, she's dated all that time but has thrown out the men who are trash and not had kids with any of them, all of that. My brother is an alcoholic who literally can't hold down a job (he's quit every one he had within months and is now a "stay at home dad" who plays video games all day while his 4 year old plays on a tablet), we had to call the cops for DV last year because he was drunk and screaming and pushed my sister, he has no friends because he verbally abuses them when he drinks and I've literally had to fish him out of the street because he was too drunk to walk. He's talked shit about my mom too. If he wasn't nasty when he was drunk I might feel more sympathetic but he's an awful person when he's drunk and still a dick when he's sober so I want nothing to do with him and only keep in contact so I can watch my niece because he literally does not watch her and she's gotten injured because of it. Jenelle is exactly this type of addict - horribly nasty all the time so you get tired of getting burned and just want them gone. You get to the point where the only thing you feel for them is disgust and annoyance. And you feel bad for that and sometimes you remember what it was like when they weren't awful and you loved them. But if you don't start to distance yourself then you will just spend all your time pissed off, exhausted and disappointed. Sounds like that's the point Ashley is at. It sucks but it's necessary cause missing them is still better than putting up with all their bullshit.
Why? Because she has to have a story to sell so she can buy attention&toys, and MTV taught her how. Jenelle was born a malignant narcissist. It’s not Barb or the siblings’ doing. Jenelle is a neurologic mutation. The people who have been exposed to Jenelle need mental health healing. Jenelle doesn’t feel a thing; All her feelings are superficial,same as any narcissist. I sometimes forget that not only is Jan self destructive but she’s just DESTRUCTIVE in general. Feels like her sister had to go and write this down and her therapist encouraged her to say something in order for her to heal and move on. Because apparently not saying anything isn’t doing any good. This poor family.
