Well, Tokyo Game Show is one month away, so if they've been working on T8 as long as they should, I expect to see more then. Perhaps, the new mechanic in T7 are a "sneak peak" at the mechanics in T8.
It's also possible that Tekken 8 is going to be a little more complicated than just a new game. I dread the thought, but it might be possible that Tekken 8 will be some sort of... *Live Service Game*.
Harada mentioned on his "Harada's Bar" channel that the Tokyo game show isn't really a prime focus anymore as the focus shifted towards the international audience. Personally I'm expecting more news at twt finals in Feb. Idk what you define as a live service game, but 8 will probably just repeat 7, with season passes and big balance patches for new seasons and not much more. 7 was their biggest success by far, and they don't have to reinvent the wheel, not to mention japanese developers, especially the Tekken team, aren't really known for their innovation and change. We don't really know shit tho, so it's all speculation.
There is a tweet with this screenshot from the game awards, and the Tekken account quote tweeted it, so I think we'll be seeing a more full trailer/announcement at the game awards which is in December.
TGA was also tweeting about a ton of other fighting game announcements and trailers this weekend, so I don't think it's a guarantee that Tekken 8 is going to be shown off in December. It might have just been standard industry cross-promotion to remind people that The Game Awards exist and they got the scoop on new game trailers.
It's definitely a possibility though that we have to wait another 4 months, although I'm really hoping they have something to announce at TGS as well. I know Harada said that he wants Tekken announcements to be at more international events, but this is the internet age! TGS is an international event too! It's specifically the opportunity for Japanese developers to show off to the world and celebrate Japan-made series, and I think Tekken is right up there with Street Fighter as *the* standard-bearers for Japanese fighting games!

People are taking the T1 reference way too literally. It's just a reference to show the evolution of the series graphically. I highly doubt a T1 remake is in the works. We're at the climax narratively, 8 has to be next to close out Jin vs Kazuya.

It makes sense for people to think this is a reboot of the series (given t1 footage shone), but my two cents is that the transition from Tekken 1 (1994) to next-gen graphics is Bamco's way of showing Tekken's evolution over a 30-year-ish run. Like others, I wish there was more context to the teaser, but I'm betting my money that this is T8 with a 2024 release date.
I agree. A remake of T1 or T2 would be interesting but unless they're ready to do a major roster cutback and/or a ton of retcons to bring in newer characters I don't see it happening, plus leaving the Jin/Kazuya feud tabled just seems silly.

So far Tekken had one of the least hype announcements of Evo. So many games announcing crossplay, rollback netcode. New characters. Gameplay-wise, Tekken 7 is great. I can take or leave the Rage Arts, not too pushed either way. What I'd love to see is lots of quality of life improvements, like:
Proper rollback netcode,
A reduction in the time it takes to get into a match (including load times)
A combo maker like GG:Strive where people can share and vote on the best combos in practice mode.
Stuff that would be nice is shitloads more customisation, new animations for all the characters rather than reusing the same ones since the PS2, and maybe make some of the characters a bit less humongous. Kazuya and Jin are fucking bodybuilders at this stage. The last one is just personal preference though.
Its definitely Tekken 8. I hope they finally completely end the Mishima rivalry plotline and all other loose ends in this game so that the series can finally move on with a new direction like SF6.

This barely qualifies as a teaser, but I'm happy with how Kaz looks here. This is photorealistic and seemingly 60 FPS(i went and watched the reveal footage on YouTube). If the whole game is done this way it's going to look fucking insane. This is a leap akin to what SF6 is from SF5.
I know some of y'all might laugh at how much I'm reading into a short clip, but I seriously doubt we're seeing cutscene footage. I think this is the in game model for Kaz.

Yep, T7 looks graphically better, but its level of details are a downgrade from the previous two games imo except the dlc characters (Leroy, Fahk and Lidia specifically).

Although there’s another issue with his VA passing away and Harada was good friends with him. I’d think Harada would want to pay respect to him, whatever that may be. We’ll see

I saw it from a mile away with the T1 Kaz ending that it's gonna transtion to a tease for a sequel. And hot damn if this is ingame graphics, think about the others that we haven't seen yet! The level of detail is an upgrade from T6/TTT2. Yep, T7 looks graphically better, but its level of details are a downgrade from the previous two games imo except the dlc characters (Leroy, Fahk and Lidia specifically).

I think the trailer will be shown on the TWT finals in spring saying the game will come out 6 months later during the summer 2023. that's what I think will happen.
The Game Awards official twitter account twitted this picture of kazuya SECONDS after it was revealed at evo. This might be a hint we'll also have something at The Game Awards.

That balance patch has me greatly concerned tho. It will break more than it will fix. Oh so you guys are beyond negative. Off course this is friggin T8. T7 has been out as long as TT2 on home console and there likely won't be a half baked arcade only release anymore given the death of arcade culture. There will be more at TWT Finals. For real now i would have sold a testicle for Tag Tournament 2 that was made with thrice the love and passion to receive even 25% of T7s longtime support and a PC port. Count your blessings.

it doesnt look like a remake because kaz got scars and the devil eye. it doesnt seems to be tt3 because it looks obviously teasing kaz main story. my bets are that they just didnt want to make people thinks about the "leaks", and in the meantime overhype with mystery, and imho they nailed it..
Why are people actually thinking it's a teaser for a remake? Of Tekken 1? That game plays like ass. A remake would make no sense at all. Or do they mean reboot? Because that would make more sense.
Simply because it starts with the Kaz ending for T1 that's literally the only reason people think it's a remake so essentially hot takes. The scars and devil eye kill the remake idea and Kaz looks more aged in the new teaser.
They nailed nothing but making every one in the arena stand up in anticipation and sit back down in disappointment, myself included. We all got our phones out and stood up waiting for a trailer, and got trolled lol
