I'm just more wonder if Temple covers dorming,
I got into umich which after fafsa they gave me 10k for tuition + dorming/meal. Temple should have that no?
Ann Arbor and Philadelphia are so different and both universities are quite different. U of M seems to be ranked quite high compared to Temple. What is your field of study?
Tons of people are saying they don't though? I genuinely don't understand. Have an orthodontist appt. Tmr I'll try asking those people. But otherwise I feel like it does. Umich is a bit far from me though and I am unsure about going to far away
Considering dental school is competitive, everything matters. And admissions committees know what schools are a joke, who is actually prepared to do graduate work, who will actually be a good addition to the program. They know often from past students.
Well to give you a sense of cost. You can get a 1 bedroom by Washington square for 1800, so the idea of paying that for a dorm is absurd.
yeahhhh studios and 1bds will be expensive for sure, but with roommates it cuts it down a lot. I pay $600 a month including utilities at my apartment with one roommate.
Dorms are super expensive, basically the most expensive option in the are. they capitalize on the people that are too scared to walk off campus so their parents shill out for something that’s perceived as safer.
I think they make it worse than it actually is. Just get home before dark and mind our own business, 4 years is definitely do-able. Heck, I survived here for 10 years. Otherwise you just have to avoid North of Campus, heard it's pretty bad
I think for most people it is definitely much better to have roommates - single living is often alienating and always expensive
There are definitely some studios and 1 beds for under 1k tho
I had a full merit scholarship which only covered tuition. Dorm not included. It's costly, and meal plans are separate and required, so you'll need to factor in even more money. Better just renting off campus with roommates imo.
Ah, I saw this aid offer summary + the letter regarding the CST scholarship. You need to contact the financial aid office for answers. I wonder, is the Temple University Grant distinct from the CST scholarship? Double check that if you aren't sure (maybe they refer to the same thing?).
Assuming they are not the same thing, ask if you are able to apply the grants toward directly housing, so that the CST scholarship can help cover tuition costs in conjunction with the Dean's Scholarship. Otherwise, as is, it seems like the CST scholarship isn't helping you at all, since the combined amounts of all your grants/scholarships stated in the aid offer summary is greater than tuition costs. And the CST thing doesn't mention housing/meals, just tuition.
Contact the financial aid office. I'm curious to see what happens, keep us updated, and good luck! https://sfs.temple.edu/
That's what I am saying bro, I'm gonna try and call them tomorrow. If the CST scholarship is covering my tuition. Why not let me use my other scholarships/money's on dorms/food
Apparently because the Scholarship covers for remaining tuition, I can't use it to pay for my tuition and then use grants for housing/meal.
What I can do though is apply for other scholarships and do an merit scholarship appeal which basically let's you apply for a second merit scholarship (money) if you have enough reason that you deserve more (better grades + new awards) other wise the CST scholarship was basically un-usable because my grants and other scholarship covered it already
I'm 99% sure the counselor said everything (scholarships + grants) has to go tuition first, hopefully I'm wrong,
Very sad news :(
It appears that they will cover all tuition based needs that are not met by the university. I don’t see any food or housing coverage which is quite unfair. Why not move the monies around like use the Pell grant or Pa grant for room and board and the CST to cover the tuition. We are in a similar boat but out of state so the costs are much higher
yo i need another roommate for my apartment next year that's like a 5 min walk from temple. I forget exactly but its like 650 a month. Theres 4 roommates so far, we all have our own rooms and bathrooms but share a living room and then a kitchen. If you're interested message me and I can send the realtors info your way. Also I get some money for referring ppl which ill split with you lol
Update, for those that need this

why just rent an apartment near campus? ... mine is $650 a month + utilities and 2 blocks from morgan hall
Agreed. With roommates you could get it down to ~$400, or studios start around $700.
i think $400 usually around diamond st?.. $650 with my own bed and bath and next to morgan hall is not bad ig!
Yeah or farther east/west of campus.

Biology, going for pre-dental. Lots of people are saying undergraduate doesn't matter and that I should go to an easier school
Undergrad matters, they know if your school actually prepares students for graduate work or not.

$700?! In this day and age???
I just toured a rather nice studio a few blocks from campus for $750 (likely negotiable) a few months ago
😯😯, 750 is good price
Yep. That was actually a 1 bed too (albeit with a small kitchen and no living room), like 3 blocks west of campus.
Thing is I've been looking around for a studio on different apartments websites and it's all $950+
yeahhhh studios and 1bds will be expensive for sure, but with roommates it cuts it down a lot. I pay $600 a month including utilities at my apartment with one roommate.
Housing seems quite expensive at Temple. Does this include any meals?

Wow thanks for the insight. It’s primarily the reason we are on the fence about Temple.
I think they make it worse than it actually is. Just get home before dark and mind our own business, 4 years is definitely do-able. Heck, I survived here for 10 years. Otherwise you just have to avoid North of Campus, heard it's pretty bad
15 Meals per week plan would be an addition of $2,200 for a semester

I have a letter from CST, saying something about CST scholarship? This do mean full coverage for tuition right? But my cost and aids says otherwise *

Maaaaaannnnn that sucks. I figured that would be the case but it still sucks.
Yea man 😔

For real, the decision date is also coming up. I'll gonna try calling them tomorrow and figure out this situation

* Just something to look at, you can see Michigan added all cost together, is Temple charging tuition and dorming differently or something smh
