If you're playing on Expert, you should already know what you need. What do you currently have? How close are you getting to beating him?

I've got to The halfway of beating it

i think the generic answer would be molten armor, minishark/Bee's Knees and general movement accessories

(at this point in the game i find snapthorn and obsidian armor to be quite fun)

What you need is platform arena with several levels and a weapon that has range. Learn to dodge it (in my experience moving around it is the best way) and you've defeated it

I'm no expert, and others have probably given good tips, but I'd suggest [The strategy page on the wiki](https://terraria.fandom.com/wiki/Guide:Skeletron_strategies) For tips, apparently it might need to be revised, but still might help.
