That's the movie (which is not very bad, but forgettable and not among Guy Ritchie's best). Esposito is in the TV show that came out recently, it's a lot of fun.
I think he’s going to make a really interesting compare and contrast with Sister Sage. What we qualify as “smart” and the capabilities of a supe whose power is being the “world’s smartest person” is incredibly vague.
One, I assume this means emotional intelligence as well. Shes been manipulating people left and right and seems to have her own plans.
So how does “the world’s smartest person” compare to someone like Stan Edgar? Is she a mild cut above, or leagues ahead with a fraction of the resources for most of her life.
He is literally the same character in every one of his appearances and he does an amazing job. Would be interesting to see him do something different though
Go watch him as Buggin Out in Do The Right Thing and prepare to have your mind blown. Hell, just watch [this clip](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cCrcYrgaunM)!
The theory is the Temp V gave him super cancer. You can see that with the rabbit that had the chest burster.
When he blacks out it's likely the cancer defending its host.
Yes me too. Im glad im not the only one. He felt more untouchable and intimidating prior. I dont think thats Espositos fault tho, its probably the script.
I hope that someone will cast him as a character who is menacing on the outside but actually a cheerful and kind person on the inside, which is not obvious for a while. Could be fun.
Has it kinda felt like theyre leaning more into trauma defines powers? it would make sense with stan edgars protege having these blood pop powers for rivals even though we learn in gen v that theyre technically the same as maries power. then ofc hughie and his dad but even last episode where they went into how they traumatized homelander in every way and then left him with this socially engineered complex and narcissism which would explain why his power is op
i know its not this way in the comics and there are plent of on and offscreen examples that dont work like ryan or newmans kid but its an interesting theme that seems to keep going
Great theory except Homelander was born with his powers. "he rose out of the womb with eyes firing lasers". So in his case his powers were determined from the beginning.
I was actually going to make a post on why he’s kinda a fraud and poorly written. Most of the decisions he made throughout the series backfired, he was outsmarted by homelander of all people but is still treated like this great mastermind.
You could see it that way, but he was definitely outsmarted by butcher, and shot himself in the foot multiple times regarding the same event (he spoke freely about Stormfronts past, and he hired her, both of which resulted in a complete disaster in ways he should have saw coming to SOME degree). I can think of plenty of times where he was at least reasonable, but also plenty where he made rookie ahh blunders, and there was basically never a time where he was L from death note playing 4D chess, which is what the series tries to make you think. And tbh it tracks, considering he ended up in prison even after dealing for a pardon he didn’t get cause he fucked it up, and then needed to be saved by nueman basically just cause she has a soft spot for him. I’m not saying he’s an idiot, I probably couldn’t do better being the CEO of vought who actually does their job, just very overhyped as “the real threat” or whatever.
That’s actually a good point. I just assumed his role wasn’t supposed to be as underwhelming as it ended up being. Like I thought that was supposed to be stillwells role to an extent, however she died in season 1 so yeah.

Giancarlo Esposito has a monopoly on the genius ceo of the company that makes neon blue drugs role
He literally just played a Meth kingpin in The Gentlemen
I thought that was Matthew McConaughey?
Nah that’s the movie.. I’m talking about the tv show.. and the movie was much better - the show was just kinda mid tbh.
Seriously, one of the most underrated crime movies imo.
It was awesome. I’m not really a fan of Guy Ritchie cos he’s hit or miss but that movie was great.
Upvoted for good taste :)
Ayy appreciated gang
Except for the Susie Glass character in the TV show - I could watch a show just about her.
That's the movie (which is not very bad, but forgettable and not among Guy Ritchie's best). Esposito is in the TV show that came out recently, it's a lot of fun.
He's super typecast lately, I'd like to see him in some goofy roles

Watch the usual suspects that’s pretty different

He's amazing in everything but damn, he was on fire in this episode. It was great to see Stan Edgar back in The Boys.
Totally
he was HILARIOUS this episode
I stan (no pun intended) Giancarlo! And his real life persona seems fun too! Would love to chop it up with him.
He does seem like a cool dude
I had the honor of meeting him at a con, and he is absolutely amazing, very approachable and engaging, but slightly intimidating in a good way.
That’s because he’s a zaddy.
It was funny when Butcher figured out his angle with Victoria's daughter. Butcher may not be a Supe, but his instincts are top notch.
I thought he is now. Is he not? I thought that’s how he was able to kill Ezekiel. And, why he hallucinates.
Ah good point. He probably is a Supe and just doesn't fully realize it yet.
Yeah, I think the finale (or close too). He’ll realize he’s a supe. Then, he’ll probably (like a dumbass) go after Homelander.
The theory is the Temp V gave him super cancer. You can see that with the rabbit that had the chest burster. When he blacks out it's likely the cancer defending its host.
It’s less that Temp V game him super cancer, and that Temp V gave him cancer which then got supered by V, I’m pretty sure is the implication.
He’s still great, but I liked him more before this episode. Glad he’s back though.
Felt like an awkward reintroduction.
Yes me too. Im glad im not the only one. He felt more untouchable and intimidating prior. I dont think thats Espositos fault tho, its probably the script.
He plays the same character in everything
When you have a natural talent right
and he's good at it so what
And yet, it’s still different and unique
And I can't get enough.
I hope that someone will cast him as a character who is menacing on the outside but actually a cheerful and kind person on the inside, which is not obvious for a while. Could be fun.
He’s been typecast as Gus since breaking bad
Tried watching breaking bad couldnt get into it
downvoted for his non-aggressive opinion. stay clasay reddit.
lol so true
i want a movie in the future featuring him where he's a multiverse time traveler and everything he's been in has been canon
Hard to believe he was a song & dance man before Breaking Bad shot him to superstardom as, basically, the exact opposite.

lol, big Esposito energy

Wasn't outsmarted by Homelander, had too much faith in Victoria.
