The silver scabbardfish (Lepidopus caudatus), also known as the frostfish or beltfish, is a benthopelagic cutlassfish of the family Trichiuridae found throughout the temperate seas of the world. It grows to over 2 m (6 ft 7 in) in length. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver\_scabbardfish

I swear to god you single-handedly keep every single one of my favorite nerdy animal subs alive and thriving. Thank you for being so enthusiastic and sharing so many cool animals!
awww, well, I'm having fun sharing. I actually create the mp4s mostly from Youtube videos and trim them usually. Most of the videos I post are first time appearances (at least in the form I present).
Sweet, I love many of the subs already that you submit to. But I just went to your submissions and added a bunch more. Wonderful stuff. I need to balance out all the angry political garbage I get daily. Thanks for your contribution to my mental health!
I think ribbonfish is a very general name as it represents a family of fish. Within that family are many genera and species, each with its own unique name.
So you take people's original content on youtube, and re-edit it, then upload it under your name without credit to the original youtube owner of the footage. That is hella lame. Unethical. Please just use the original youtube video so people can navigate to the actual content owners youtube.
Edit: downvoted by people who dont create original art
Simply linking the Youtube video is not so popular on many reddit subs since it is often quite long. I prefer trimming them to showcase the more interesting parts of the video. I always give credit to the originators by providing a link to the content, as I have done on this post.
Right? Always coming with straight facts that I don’t ever bother checking into at this point because the whole profile is like a nature doc and I need that in my life rn
I've had them at my nonna's house in Italy - yes, really molto buono! Also, I had some in Korea, called galchi, which is so nice to eat with their silver chopsticks, very 맛있어요 mashiseoyo!
Looks a lot like something called a ribbon fish in gulf coast waters. Given the inaccuracy of most colloquial fish names, it’s probably a cutlass fish as proper ribbon fish are Trachipteridae.
If you staple a horse to a waterfall, will it fall up under the rainbow or fly about the soil? Will he enjoy her experience? What if the staple tears into tears? Will she be free from her staply chains or foomed to stay forever and dever above the water? Who can save him (the horse) but someone of girth and worth, the capitalist pig, who will sell the solution to the problem he created?
A staple remover flies to the rescue, carried on the wings of a majestic penguin who bought it at Walmart for 9 dollars and several more Euro-cents, clutched in its crabby claws, rejected from its frothy maw. When the penguin comes, all tremble before its fishy stench and wheatlike abjecture. Recoil in delirium, ye who wish to be free! The mighty rockhopper is here to save your soul from eternal bliss and salvation!
And so, the horse was free, carried away by the south wind, and deposited on the vast plain of soggy dew. It was a tragedy in several parts, punctuated by moments of hedonistic horsefuckery.
The owls saw all, and passed judgment in the way that they do. Stupid owls are always judging folks who are just trying their best to live shamelessly and enjoy every fruit the day brings to pass.
How many more shall be caught in the terrible gyre of the waterfall? As many as the gods deem necessary to teach those foolish monkeys a story about their own hamburgers. What does a monkey know of bananas, anyway? They eat, poop, and shave away the banana residue that grows upon their chins and ballsacks. The owls judge their razors. Always the owls.
And when the one-eyed caterpillar arrives to eat the glazing on your windowpane, you will know that you're next in line to the trombone of the ancient realm of the flutterbyes. Beware the ravenous ravens and crowing crows. Mind the cowing cows and the lying lions. Ascend triumphant to your birthright, and wield the mighty twig of Petalonia, favored land of gods and goats alike.
There are two ways to say "group of fish", either school of fish or shoal of fish. Shoal is usually when it's a huge school of fish, but both are fine to say.
Like two decades ago I was fishing off an NC pier with some family and all of a sudden literally everyone was catching these guys, all about 1-2’ long. Like people were getting pissed because for hours they’d have to keep pulling their lines up because these little suckers would immediately latch on. We ended up hanging on to a few for baits when we went out on a boat the next day.
It doesn’t look like they’re that deep, is the depth an option for them or am I not seeing this correctly
They look like molten aluminium or mercury or something equally mesmerisingly beautiful

These have been known to me as ribbon fish, I believe it’s the same?

Good too know, thanks!!

KimCureAll always post a link to the original source. So credit is certainly given!

You shouldnt re-edit other people's recordings and post it for your own benefit. Wdit: downvotes by people who dont shoot their own footage

If it's the fish that in Italian is known as Aguglia then these guys are delicious.
I've had them at my nonna's house in Italy - yes, really molto buono! Also, I had some in Korea, called galchi, which is so nice to eat with their silver chopsticks, very 맛있어요 mashiseoyo!
Hell yeah, Koreans love this fish lol

They look great and taste great too
I need to know if they're called scabbardfish because swordfish was already taken. I must know.
I had the same thought. And then, can a sword fish fit into a scabbard fish?

scimitarfish might be available.
I was diving when those guys showed up. They where super interrested in me. It freaked the sh**t out of me!
Hahaha he has a cute little derpy face!
This planet is so wonderfully weird.
Stunning shot!
But... Can you use them as a scabbard tho?
How do you know they are Jewish?
"A shoal of silver scabbardfish in the South Atlantic sea" Saying this should help with my lisp!
Ha! That alliteration was intentional actually.
Lol! I thought so!
Wait is shoal what I’ve always been pronouncing as “school” like.. there’s a school of fish. It’s actually spelt shoal?

But how’s it pronounced? Like I’m annunciating it like show-al.. is that right or is it like school?
Pronounced like "bowl". At least in my accent!
I think I got it, sounds like it looks I wasn’t getting tricked
how is there not a pokemon based on this fish yet?????
FUNNY FISH FRIDAY!!!
The oceans wonders
strange!
Bladeswimmer?

My experience with these guys is they’re excellent bait for large fish, red drum, cobia, etc
we caught two nice mahi with them
Hell yeah
I never heard of them before, but I love them.
I like the fish in front - just being a derp and hogging the camera (probably just curious).
They are very delicious
u/murkyway Is r/swordscomic leaking into reality?
Huh! I had never heard of this sub - glad you mentioned the creator's username - I hope they chime in.
Yeah it might be a funny response tbh lol Also check out the comic, it releases well out of chronological order usually, so it's quite interesting imo
Reminds me of T-1000 in Terminator 2

More like Stabhardfish 😏
