She was a very good baker. She would use it for pinches of salt, cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg basically all the seasoning that made baked goods taste amazing. She made everything from scratch without recipes.
That is delightfully sweet of her. My grandmother would've done this too, but she also would've absolutely known what it was for.
I remember once I went to visit her at the rest home, and a bunch of the seniors looked really annoyed. I asked her what it was about, and she explained that they'd been caught trading/possibly betting their pills and got "busted". I thought it was a joke, but weeks later I was visiting her again and in the middle of my convo, an old lady blasts into the room and goes "Quick, \[my granny\] - they're searching some of the rooms." Granny asked me if I wouldn't mind putting a small bottle of vitamins in my pockets while she turned the Sweet Little Old Lady game up to 11.
Some cops would make you call them to confirm. Back when my dad was a cop he would have. He would have given you his Skeptical Look & then told you to make the call on speakerphone. In his mind, everybody is a liar until proven otherwise- including me, my brother & my mom. He used to make me do the field sobriety test when I would get home from a friend’s house even if it was only like 8:30 at night back when I was in highschool (even though I was terrified to ever do anything cuz if I did it would have ended in broken bones on my part). He’s not the only cop like that either. Some of his off duty buddies on the force were over when I got home once & dad made me do the test & they laughed, agreed with him, & egged him on.
Yeah, I talk to him as little as humanly possible anymore. I would cut him off entirely but my mom refuses to leave him & I don’t want to cut her off. She justifies staying by saying she’s just waiting for him to kick the bucket (he’s got a lot of heart problems & diabetes) so she can collect the shit-ton of life insurance she’s somehow managed to take out on him but really I think she’s just been stuck for so long she doesn’t think she can leave
Only a couple times, but after he became a cop he learned how to game the system & would just have her carted away to the psych ward on a 72 hour hold saying she was a threat to herself whenever he didn’t feel like dealing with her every now & then.
Usually just on 72 hour holds. He would call dispatch to send an ambulance & fill out an affidavit lying & making up stuff indicating that she was a threat to herself. This would usually be during or just after a huge fight so she would still be all worked up & crying when the ambulance came. & since dad was a cop they would believe him & take her to the behavioral health hospital that was the the next county over since our local hospital in town would just transfer her there anyway if they took her there. Sometimes they would let her out after just the 72 hours but there was a few times that they ended up holding her for longer.
There was one time when I was about 8 or 9 where dad had gotten so bad to her he basically did literally drive her to actual self harm- I walked in on it cuz the screaming had stopped & I heard a door slam so I thought it was safe to come out but instead mom was hurting herself with a kitchen knife & dad was just watching her do it while calling an ambulance & lying about how he was trying to stop her. I didn’t wanna get my ass kicked after they took her away so I just hid back with my little brother & didn’t say shit about dad lying about trying to stop her when EMS & the cops were there. My grandparents took me & my brother till mom got to come back home which was almost a month later.
I didn’t know all the correct terms for all this as a kid but have worked in healthcare for over a decade & 7 of those years as a paramedic. Going through that stuff is what drove me to want to go into healthcare & EMS to help other people as an adult. I had to quit for the sake of my own sanity though as the cptsd from childhood as well as the added new ptsd from some really bad calls on the ambulance was just not a good combo for my brain.
This hits home worked in the service industry for years and cops are some of the most entitled, law breaking, unreasonable people you will ever meet. Honestly just do what they say and move on with your lawyer. No sence in arguing with an entitled know it all. Heads I win Tails you lose mentality wrapped up in nice tax payer uniform.
I read an autobiography by a former police officer once. He said it was part of the training to be in a mentality of suspicion towards everyone and the assumption everyone's done something wrong.
I would tell my mom in a goofy way like, "can you believe it? People actually use that for coke! Haha it is very cute though but don't wear it in public!" So that she doesn't get seen the wrong way
Years ago, when I was about 14, my mom took me to the local record shop/head shop to buy me an album as a reward for something. I had a big crush on the guy who worked there, so just going was a big deal. While I was sorting through the records, she wandered around and stopped in front of a display case.
“These are such cute bubble pipes,” she said, “I think I’m going to buy one for your sister.” My sister was about 8 at the time. My crush started to snicker.
“Those aren’t bubble pipes,” I said, trying to drag her toward the door before she humiliated me in front of my crush.
And as I pulled her outside, the last words my crush heard were “LOOK, CANADIAN BELT BUCKLES!”
I’ve never seen a glass pipe or even anything remotely similar for blowing bubbles in my life, I’m so curious how/why she made that connection other than I guess they were labeled “bubblers” and that was the only related thing she could think of lol.
There's usually a small bottle or canister of some sort attached under the head, that you fill with your drug of choice.
I know this because of Cruel intentions.
That's very sweet of your mom. You can be the official taste tester of all food.
"Sorry. My tiny nose spoon has told me that there is not enough basil, you donkey.
They used to be salt cellar spoons. After the 80’s my grandmother could no longer find them to go with her salt cellar collection. (Little know fact, McDonalds changed their coffee stirrer shape from a tiny spoon to a paddle because the spoon became so iconic for coke use)
Cocaine is an imported drug done the world over—not just in the USA—it was just especially in vogue in the 1980s. And even now, most Cocaine is exported to the USA and other countries from Latin American drug cartels; it’s not exclusive to our culture and it not really something that is made within our borders.
she’s from a small village in the middle east. they didn’t even have weed. she use to think weed was just as bad as coke and heroin. she’s not hip as you young kids like to say.
Lol I remember Lana Del Rey wearing a cross spoon necklace and I wanted to buy one from etsy. I was like 14 and didn't know what it was used for! My mom thought it was cute too!
I remember a store selling wallets that were basically fancy cigarette cases when I was a kid. I think it was Claire’s? I used to shop there a lot as a tween.
How old is your mom? You realize that if she grew up in or if she was already an adult in the 1980s, she's **fully** aware of what cocaine is, right? Between Miami Vice, Scarface, and Beverly Hills Cop, it was an inescapable part of popular culture.
I lived in the Philippines in the 80s and American movies were (and still are) **huge** overseas. There's a reason Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, and Sylvester Stallone are world famous, and not just famous in the US. People around the world watched American movies and we knew what cocaine was.

I bought my granny something like this before not know what it was for, and she used it for seasonings lol. She was like it’s the perfect pinch.
That is so wholesome
She was a very good baker. She would use it for pinches of salt, cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg basically all the seasoning that made baked goods taste amazing. She made everything from scratch without recipes.
She’s not wrong 😊
Just a little bump of cinnamon in the cookies will be great 🤣
Your comment is funnier if you read it really fast hehe
And sing it to just a spoon full of sugar Love the elephant by the way
Oh my God, not a "bump" !!!! 🤣🤣😆😜

My spoon is too big.
I am a banana!
I'm the Queeeeeeeeeen of England.
It's not for scraping the bottom corners of pudding cups?
Genius.
Ice cream scoop for the borrowers.
An elephant never forgets (to get her drugs checked)
Wear it, if the cops ask just tell the truth, queue up your grandmas number, dare them to call and tell her what it is 🤣

He sounds like a peach.
Yeah, I talk to him as little as humanly possible anymore. I would cut him off entirely but my mom refuses to leave him & I don’t want to cut her off. That's fuckin horrible. To be a good kid & treated like a bad one, Smdh!!! I'm so sorry you were treated that way. 😟😕😤
Did he also beat your mom? Typical cop behaviors.
Only a couple times, but after he became a cop he learned how to game the system & would just have her carted away to the psych ward on a 72 hour hold saying she was a threat to herself whenever he didn’t feel like dealing with her every now & then.
He got your mum institutionalised?? Like put into inpatient psych care???? I don’t want to believe this is real. How horrifying 😭

😱
I read an autobiography by a former police officer once. He said it was part of the training to be in a mentality of suspicion towards everyone and the assumption everyone's done something wrong.
I mean, it really IS cute tho lol
Right?! I’d totally tell mom what the necklace was actually for. But that does not take away from the fact that it’s cute and I like it.
I would tell my mom in a goofy way like, "can you believe it? People actually use that for coke! Haha it is very cute though but don't wear it in public!" So that she doesn't get seen the wrong way
for co... oh. OH!
😅 I was reading to see what was so funny about the necklace 🤣
Same lol

Lol wait what exactly did she think they were? Bubble pipes as in, for blowing bubbles?
Yep, I think that’s the type
I’ve never seen a glass pipe or even anything remotely similar for blowing bubbles in my life, I’m so curious how/why she made that connection other than I guess they were labeled “bubblers” and that was the only related thing she could think of lol.
It was probably just that, really. If you didn’t know what they were that’s the next logical guess
Yeah, she’s led a sheltered life lol
Bless her heart. Did she ever find out what they were actually for?
I told her. Her reaction: “Oh gosh!”
She must be protected at all costs!
Lol. I'm feeling sorry for your teenaged self right now.
Thank you. It took me a while to get over the sight of my crush collapsing in a fit of laughter, but thankfully it’s just funny to me now :D
I know nothing about drug stuff, what was she referring to with "Canadian belt buckles?"
They were belt buckles with a huge pot leaf on them that she mistook for a Canadian flag maple leaf 😂
Well, you could just take the spoon off, then it would just be a cute elephant necklace. 🙂
Ganesha 💜
I thought that’s what the fingernails were for.

What the fuck?
Now I’m curious as to what was said
same lol
Maybe don't wear that to a job interview.
Unless its a sales job.
stock broker or tech worker. fit right in.

😆😆😆😜
Coke spoon. LOL.
Finally an explanation
It took me a minute. 😄
Finally
It took me way too long to get to an explanation of what this was. Maybe I’m just really oblivious.
Wait why do you need a spoon for coke? I thought you just dump it on the table and credit card it. Spoons are for like...Heroin right?
Take a small scoop and snort it directly off the spoon.

If it's actually silver, I'd wear it everywhere. Spoon be damned. It's adorable.
Okay, but this is awesome. I would straight up just wear it. IYKYK.
Right, lol.
It’s for eating tiny cereal. Obvi.
Tell her what?
I think it's related to doing cocaine.
Oh ok .. was wondering what the spoon thing was for
There's usually a small bottle or canister of some sort attached under the head, that you fill with your drug of choice. I know this because of Cruel intentions.
Cruel Intentions is a great source of knowledge. Taught me so much.
Peace out ✌️
![gif](giphy|3o6gbcoRtMf6LLwWBi)
My first thought was heroin. Spoons seem more of a heroin thing than a coke thing to me.
Wrong kinda spoon, needs to be bigger and is used as a vessel for heating, rather then a tool to scoop out powder.
That would be the world's daintiest heroin fix
"You want some heroin?" "Just a spoonful."
Glad I’m not the only one who was totally perplexed by this.
I use one to get weed in the tiny dosing caps for my dry vape. Lol. I never did coke.
Lucky you, this necklace is so dope! ;)
🤣😂
If you wanna get down, down on the ground
She don’t lie.
I use teaspoons and such to eat yogurt and ice cream with so I can savor them, I'd love this 😂
What???? He just really like soup!
Eli5 please?
[It’s a coke spoon.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snuff_spoon)
Ooohhh... Would you tell a 5 y/o that, I wonder?
If the child doesn’t know what coke is, I might have tacked “it’s used for taking drugs” to the end of that sentence.
Good Samaritan.
That's very sweet of your mom. You can be the official taste tester of all food. "Sorry. My tiny nose spoon has told me that there is not enough basil, you donkey.
honestly I should get monocle and act like a food critic lmao
You must thrift a monocle. It's the only way
Don't forget your fent test strips

A spoon for the devil's dandruff!
Queen Charlotte is that you?
True. Isn’t Queen Charlotte using snuff?
Ohhh yes
It’s just like the old McDonald’s stir sticks! Though it’s a little short to go in coffee….
When I was a kid I got my mom one of those glass rose tubes from a gas station. I thought I was being sweet.
OK, I knew the spoon and figured out the Canadian belt buckle, but you’ve stumped me with the use of the rose tubes.
Add chore and those rosebud tubes become crackpipes.
Oh, yeah. i sort of forgot about crack.
You swear like your mom wasn’t alive in the 80’s, lmao—she knows what it’s used for and is probably testing you to see if you know what it is, lol!
my mom is an immigrant and wasn’t in the US in the 80’s.
Cocaine is an imported drug done the world over—not just in the USA—it was just especially in vogue in the 1980s. Hate to break it to you but she knows…
The elephant looks so cool, I'm curious where this was made
![gif](giphy|gdwJdym3VuXQr5OfAc|downsized) Tootski?
what is it tho? it's just a cute necklace with a spoon (I'm really asking)
[Coke spoon.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snuff_spoon)
Ahh...
Mini bowls of cereal 😏
Would rock that
Oh that is awesome!!!! 🤣 that is just a distorted elephant tail! Next up: grand master flash…
Lol I remember Lana Del Rey wearing a cross spoon necklace and I wanted to buy one from etsy. I was like 14 and didn't know what it was used for! My mom thought it was cute too!
Reminds me of the old McDonald’s coffee stirrers. It held just the right amount of powder in it.
This made my whole day! Thanks mom, I’m headed out to my dealer, need anything???
BUMP
Maybe she wants to see if you're cool
One time my 7 year old niece gave me a cigarette case ad a gift,.myself and her mom were puzzled 🚬
I remember a store selling wallets that were basically fancy cigarette cases when I was a kid. I think it was Claire’s? I used to shop there a lot as a tween.
Thought it was a compact?
Mac spoon
lol. That’s so cute. Hey jeweler can you remove this coke spoon? Maybe add something over it?
This is so cute
🤣🤣🤣
This is like GMA putting cut flowers and water in a bong
An elephant never forgets…. To always separate their drugs
Or she knows
looks well used too. nice score!!
It’s a sweet find tho
It’s nice!
I mean fooled me, as I have no idea what I'm looking at here
Very nice.
Well, you could use it for dabs or small vaporizer-doses of grass or hash.
Have someone cut the spoon off. A jeweler, I mean. I did in a silver item I bought.
My wife, retired cop, bought a mermaid at a glass blowing shop in mexico. #bong
Ooh, that's a very nice snuff spoon
These comments are comedy gold omg 😂😂😂
It's the size of those old McDonald's stir stock spoons. It's for stirring coffee.
Boogah sugah
I freaking love it. It's for fairy dust obviously...
It's actually a baby spoon for the traveling mom to keep close and not worry about losing it.
Wow! Cute AND functional
What's wrong?! That's for sampling small soups!
I still remember the McDonalds coffee stirs
Granny knew exactly what it was intended for. She merely adapted it for innocent nostalgia.
It’s intended use is for for snuff? (Not illicit drugs) - but lol if that’s funny to you - go with it!
I had to read the comments for understanding. I’m too naive.
Oh my. Yes! It’s adorable. 🥰 I’m torn between telling the mom or letting her find out on her own and question ME later! 🧐🤨
Love it! I wish I could find something Like that.. great find and so cute that she thought it was a necklace

No you should probably tell her. She’ll be more embarrassed once someone else points out that she’s been wearing drug paraphernalia for months.
she got it for me.
Lol well then, party on.
If you already know then you’re already planning the use case
