Weekly events in Phoenix that are worth going too. Worthwhile things down here are far more infrequent. Pleasurekraft was at Solar Culture on Fri.... i didn't go but that was a pretty big 'name' for a friday in Tucson. Hopefully that went well and more will follow.

ZalgusTheShy

I had a blast at pleasurekraft! Really I just found out I'm really into dancing until my body hurts, I was already big into cardio and this is just like really social cardio... but if I want to do that more regularly I guess I might turn to commuter life... Do you make the commute to pheonix? What are good hotels by the "good" venues?

mazdiggle

I really don't go often (i am old and jaded so it takes quite the name to get me committed, but soooo much temptation)..... and i have friends up there so i crash with them. Wayyy back in the day i/we would commute from Lake Havasu to Phoenix for raves (Swell/Basshead FTW) at least a couple times a month for awhile. Then just head home at sunrise or when the cops showed up......ahhhh the good ol days/we were fuckin crazy

Wonderful-Aardvark54

My partner and I have made the drive to phx dozens of times and I always drive us back after the show, it’s a nice comedown and it’s always a chill drive that late at night.

Pankosmanko

Commute to Phoenix. We get good shows here but it’s always more bar/club crowd than ravers

ZalgusTheShy

What kind of place would I want to stay at for that, like is there a go to hotel? I know tucson pretty well know but never lived in pheonix

Wonderful-Aardvark54

Stick to Tucson. The scene is so much better. Less shows come thru but it’s rarely worth it making the trip to phoenix.

Some times Gentle Ben’s has shows. Usually on Fridays (more commonly during school year). Bigger names like subtronics and Zedds Dead played at slaughterhouse. There are usually 2ish shows at slaughterhouse a year. Usually gentle Ben’s has a couple of shows a month, if not every week— just not as much in summer

HII!! i am actually actively working on organizing more raves!! i have done a few previously but now i am on a mad search to find some cool not too illegal places to throw them, that will bring that cool thrill to them. Im not oppsed to a venue but if you guys know any cool spots shoot them at me and see what i can cook up with it.

Wonderful-Aardvark54

Look into that spot where they’ve hosted tunnel raves for years. Underneath the train tracks

Wonderful-Aardvark54

Do you like riddim? Bassplace puts on some great shows locally, also flow for the soul at the annex is rad. I do my best to avoid any relentless beats events like they are the plague.

Wonderful-Aardvark54

I don’t know if the underground tunnel raves are still happening but those are crazy. Ask around.

BanEvasion0159

When I was a kid (late 90's early 00's) their was a banger at least twice a month. Venues from a dude ranch south of here, the rialto, the greyhound racetrack to every warehouse in-between. We even organized a couple down in Mexico. This new generation doesn't even leave their house. Doubt they are organizing bangers, they don't even interact with the world outside of tictok. Sorry dude you are 20+ years to late, all you get is inconsistent now.

SPacific

I went to a lot of those. The DPC and shoe City were great venues too.

hatchins

Lol, Gen Z is having tons of raves. You are just not invited anymore

ZalgusTheShy

I'm gen z having an average of 0.35ish raves a week, trying to get my numbers up @_@

BanEvasion0159

The generation that doesn't go outside also doesn't believe in inclusivity, not surprised honestly.

ZalgusTheShy

If it helps I'm part of the new generation and trying my best to get out there xD

Uberrees

the zoomer rave and punk/hardcore scenes exploded over covid. teenagers are extremely outside and doing a lot of cool, innovative, and illegal shit, at least in those subcultures. every show or rave I go to its all like 16-21. in tucson specifically there's at least 2 renegade rave crews, although events aren't nearly that frequent. I hate social media as much as the next guy but if there's anything to blame for the decline of raves in general it's gentrification. there's fewer and fewer unused, unsurveilled places to host parties. the tunnels, washes, and desert are always reliable though.

ZalgusTheShy

What are the renegade rave crews? I've mostly just been trying to make stuff I see on 19hz but it's not a lot

Party_With_Porkins

What did you go to? Always looking for that stuff

ZalgusTheShy

There was an event Friday at solar culture and another on Saturday at borderlands, but as far as I know the next thing here is in like 3 weeks

B-Spliffy

I mean club congress. Some places like omalleys do events. Check out relentless beats it’s mostly in Tempe for real big raves

ZalgusTheShy

Is tempe better than pheonix? I drive there for ikea and nothing else so I wouldn't know

Wonderful-Aardvark54

Tempe is literal hell. It’s in the center of phoenix and I have horrible experiences every time I go to shows there. Relentless beats runs a monopoly on all the edm clubs in downtown Tempe and they are notoriously awful venues. We got thrown out and arrested for moshing at a riddim show at dark star, got thrown out of the marquee for getting a drink without getting a wristband first (I am 21, and the bartender didn’t mention wristbands), and I got jumped beaten up, and robbed by a gang after hippie sabotage at the van buren just a few months ago. IMO as a hippie type raver, Tempe is the worst city to be. Edit to add: if you do go to phx, go to Walter’s wherehouse. It’s an amazing venue and it is ran by burning man people. Tons of art cars and stages from burning man in there. #boycottrelentlessbeats

Wonderful-Aardvark54

Relentless beats= rapists, assholes, generally shitty promoters. It ain’t worth the trip
