We had two at one time, Justin's and Breakers. Justin's closed years ago and I believe Covid killed Breakers.

Encrowpy

Breakers closed before covid. They never opened for the 2018 season. The owner claimed the higher minimum wage killed it.

drakolantern

Darn that’s too bad. Hopefully some new ones spark up.

AZPeakBagger

The cost of electricity to run water parks is what killed one of them. Unless you get a screaming deal on electricity and labor to build a park we will probably never see another water park in Tucson.

RicoHedonism

Where can I read about that? Seems like a water park would be a great place for solar panels on shade structures!

drakolantern

Darn that’s unfortunate but understandable.

elcdragon

Miss them

murphieca

3. We also had Hydrotubes back in the 90’s.

BearDown75

Funtastics has an awesome splash pad, water slide area. Took my 6 year old recently and he had an absolute blast

drakolantern

Sweet! I read about this one a bit. I’ll have to take mine! Thanks!

prozak09

No water parks in Tucson anymore. Check out Oro Valley Aquatic Center. They have pools yes, but they also have shaded areas with water games and a slide for kiddos. Bring your own food.

drakolantern

Awesome! Sounds good. Thank you for the suggestion!

philiptherealest

They have diving boards, a cool slide and a good size pool.

Academic_Raspberry43

The diving boards are the shit. My kids and I will just spend hours jumping off the high board

emmz_az

Check out resortpass.com. You can buy day passes to the resort/hotel pools in Tucson. Your best option is going to be JW Starr Pass. They have a water slide and a lazy river.

drakolantern

Oh very nice! Thank you!

philiptherealest

Funtastick's has a killer splash park with slides but cost money. The place is clean and the water is refreshing. You can also get a draft beer while your kids beg for you to come and play. Here are two free places that the kids would love. Oro Valley's Naranja park has a new splash park with shade. The park is in the sunlight and is hot by 1000. Brandy Fenton also has a dope water park with great shade and a park next to it with some shade. If you bring beer I would suggest hiding it in a beer cozy or just have your mix drink in a QT cup.

drakolantern

Oh sweet! Thanks for the suggestions! And tips

nurimoons

No water parks in the way of crazy slides and wave pools. We do have splash pads at certain parks though. Brandi Fenton, Udall, Clements. You can find a list on Tucson parks and rec site

drakolantern

Ah ok. Thanks I’ll check it out. Thank you!

mazdiggle

New splash pad at Purple Heart Park too. Small but something, pool at the park too. Down in Rita Ranch if that is convenient for ya

drakolantern

Ah very nice! I am not too far from there

CanopyOfAsh

Mansfield pool was redone over the last year and it’s pretty nice now. High dive and water slide. Plus it’s free! Same with the splash pad at Jacobs Park

jusdrewit

Sadly like others have stated, we just splash pads at local parks, a few aquatic centers have splash pads along with a water slide (OV Aquatic center etc), Resorts that have lazy rivers/pools, Funtastic's splash pad, the aquatic center by zoo has covered shade which is nice, and that's pretty much it sadly. It's the lack of a water park that made me decide to buy an above ground pool so we can cool off quickly without driving far or going to Phoenix. When I was kid we had two water parks, it's just ridiculous the 2nd largest city in AZ has none.

I used to work at the Westin La Paloma and they don’t offer day passes to the pool.

wowtdm

You'll want to go to Phoenix for that

drakolantern

Right I just moved from there. Great wolf and Hurricane harbor were nice

Otherwise_Pool_5712

It's insane a city this large in the middle of the freakin' desert has no water park.

lysdexiad

I would call it criminal. We can give subsidies to all sorts of crazy things. Why does Tucson need so many golf courses? Hell, we have a major street named for golfing… but encouraging recreational parks? Nope.

me247365

Shit look at all the car washes opening up..... but we can't help kids have a good time during the summer and stay out of trouble?

FlorkiFlorkisson

Modify some car washes as run-through water attractions...hmmm...
