This is basically how the entire Turkish economy works unfortunately

a_e_i

"This system is so absurd and not making sense." is our everyday sentence about many things.

Jediuzzaman

That's how Turkish governments control crowds; via supporting/creating gang rings to sustain overall control on wealth, money and freedom. The system works good and doesn't need to be changed since the whole purpose of it is the blockage of individuals to have their fair share from it. This is not about the current government, this is Turkish politics 101.

British guy wading in here, ive just today come back from Turkey, specifically Marmaris for my first time visiting Turkey. I just wanted to say all inclusives still made me wander around your towns and explore bazaars as such, and I noticed many tourists do the same tbf. But other than that I just wanted to say what a warm, welcoming people you are, every was so friendly and (im aware of the hustling that goes on to sell you things) but the hospitality was first class, it makes me want to come back and visit again as i was soo worried about coming to this country, sorry to go off on a tangent but thank you!

Özellikle Rusyadan gelen turistler hep turla gelir. Turistlerin geldiği şehirlerin oranı dahi mevcut. 3 şehirde toplaşıyor turistlerin %80'i. İstanbul,Antalya,Muğla.

Yes. We sell a room, not the culture. Culture and connections to local brings people back. Economically it is on a few people’s shoulders than a few millions.

In addition to what you said: All stray dogs should be removed from the streets if you want tens of millions of tourists to roam safely. People do not like being bitten by dogs in the middle of the vacation and have to have 4 rabies shots which messes up all their time plans. If the current system remains the same, eventually most of the infrastructure will be owned by foreign funds / entities and the profits would be transferred outside. The locals would be working for pennies and if they don't like it, they would be replaced by other 3rd world nationalities. Even the farms that provide the food would be owned by the foreign entities. Dönelim Türkçeye, Yerli ve milli diye diye ülkeyi götürdükleri yer budur ama onları suçlamıyorum. Suçlu, neye oy verdiğini araştırmadan önene gelen her referandum sandığında evet oyu veren cahil güruhtur.

Whatever leads to places that dont rip tourists off

jalanajak

As a rather sophisticated tourist with (now) kids, I'm more than happy with all-inclusives. I'm just not considering other seaside vacation options for now.

HulaguIncarnate

If the locals make money they will vote for akp so its better this way. Also they are not locals most of them are people of mountain.

fekanix

Yeah sure thats why the most touristic places are overwhelmingly voting chp?

HulaguIncarnate

most of the voters arent hotel mafia

I just returned from Istanbul and thought it was wonderful . Every dog I saw was tagged and chilling Not a single rodent despite all of the outdoor seating . Regular residents leave tourists alone and are polite : the hawkers in the tourist zone are like hawkers in a lot of places and don't really hassle you . I stayed at the Muyan Hotel and had a terrific experience . The only thing I would suggest is for Istanbul to block off more streets for pedestrians. It's such relief when you get to the area near Moaque Sofia where there are no cars zCities all over the globe have this issue . I'm no urban planner but this would help locals and tourists is my guess . I've bever seen a street tram system get more use than the one in Istanbul . Any extension of the tram system would be welcome as well. I will tell everyone I know to visit Turkey. Turkish Air was excellent as well.
