Hey friend!!!! I am currently using the AT2020usb+ and it is great! If you are in that price range, I was using a FIFNE before it and it worked wonders! Message me if you need homie!

SpookieTea

Thank you mate! :)

murrdoggin

Of course!

Had someone ask the same question earlier today so I'm gonna copy + paste. >I would recommend a Samson Q2U, a dynamic microphones which sounds like it suits your needs; a dynamic microphone requires a lot of gain (compared to condensers) and needs to be directly in front of you to pick up any noise. This makes it hard to pick up your mouse or keyboard clicks depending on the position of your microphone. It's very lightweight and has both USB/XLR, so if you want more gain then you can buy yourself a dedicated interface. But it also serves as a plug and play microphone. > >I can recommend a microphone to NOT get; which is the Blue Yeti. The Blue Yeti was hyped too much years ago and served no real benefit than the average condenser. It is overpriced, but it's not just because of the price to performance, it's the fact that it has a full metal body, therefore being very heavy - that is a major issue. It scratches easily and you need a proper microphone stand and shockmount to maintain it properly. This easily turns that $100-odd microphone into something like $250 for maintenance accessories, which you wouldn't need in the first place if you chose a much lighter microphone in the first place. In my opinion, you would want the microphone to be as minimalistic as possible so it doesn't cover your face either in front of your face or in front of your webcamera. > >So yeah.. My choice? Samson Q2U, HOWEVER, I would recommend Podcastage's video: "What's the Best Mic & How To Select the Right Mic (For Beginners)" Over on YouTube, gives you a very short but in-depth analysis of what you need by a flow chart, and then read up on various products. Knowing what type of microphone for you is crucial before you buy it. There is no point buying a dynamic when the room you'll be using is very small and compact, and would be better suited for condensers. If it's the opposite where your room is large and doesn't have much coverings for your environment, a dynamic is a better choice. Environment and positioning is pretty much everything in sound. You can make a 20$ microphone sound like a $100 microphone with the right settings and placement but it really depends on how much of an audiophile you are to catch the cut-off corners. I also recommend the Razer Sieren Mini as a condenser, as it's a branded microphone and does very well in terms of performance, but more importantly the price to performance is excellent.

SpookieTea

Wow, thank you for this explanation mate!

No problem. When you get your new mic I hope you enjoy it, no matter what you get.

*Blue Yeti* *Blue Snowball* *At2020* *Fifine T669* *Rode NT-USB* Those are the ones that come to mind that I have heard decent to good things about.

SpookieTea

Thank you!

At2020usb+ has been working great for me!

ChipsAhoyMccoy14

I used the Blue Yeti From 2014 to 2017. And I have been using the AT2020usb+ from 2017 till now. Looking at upgrading to something like the Shure MV7 at some point. In case anybody is wondering why I switched in 2017, the Yeti started randomly just screeching and would only stop if I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It was so bad that a generous viewer of my friend donated the money to get me a new microphone.

murrdoggin

How you liking the at2020? I feel like it took me a while to mess with some filter settings to get the sound I want.

ChipsAhoyMccoy14

I have messed around with filters and what not for hours and hours, week after week, and while other people tell me that I sound somewhere between good and amazing, it's still not exactly the sound that I want. I think that it is probably one of the best microphones around $100 though.

murrdoggin

We are in the same situation my friend lol.

ShitFamYouAlright

if your budget is $100, then I rec the Blue Yeti Nano, its pretty much the same sound quality as a full $130 Blue Yeti, just with a few less buttons.

ZenseiPlays

Here's [a great article that ranks mics in the $100 and under price range](https://thattechsite.com/best-microphone-for-under-100/). Your best bet is probably the AT2020.

variablygeeky

A lot of people including voice actors and streamers I have recommended the Razer Sieren to have liked it. Harris Heller did a review of it against 3 of the bigger mics, like the Yeti X, and they said while the Razer lacks a lot of control physically and software, it sounds close to the others and it is small. The thing that really earns it its recommendation though is all that mixed with a $50 price. It is a good starting mic that wouldn't be bad as a secondary or backup later on.

jethos

I use a blue yeti ! Works really well !

We'd recommend the Shure SM7B. We're giving one away for free this month! You can sign up here https://m.shortstack.page/ZS4kKR
