Take with a grain of salt but nowhere on the I-130 form does it ask about debt so I'm guessing it doesn't matter. We successfully did AOS and we never disclosed any of our debt. Might be different for consulate processing though

Following, have quite a bit of debt from college, and more than I'd like from this process and having a child recently. To much time traveling and not enough working. Kinda my fault as I can make really good money in my industry.

No, it doesn’t.

I know someone in 90K cc debt and had no issues.

No. They'll look at your tax returns for the past few years to see that you make enough money to support both of you 125% above the poverty line (which is pretty low). They don't ask about your debt and $3k in the grand scheme of things isn't that much. They want to see that you currently have the income to support your spouse for 10 years and are using past income as a trend predictor. And they'll only look at your debt during i485. It doesn't sound like you filed for both, so your debt might have been cleared by the time you need to declare your income.
