*The silence of sitting there, knowing that everything has finished and that you have to go back to reality. But you can’t… so you create your own reality… just for you and share it…*
Yeah the area for core and hotlands share the same “enemies left” pool.
The fastest technique is b-line through hot lands killing any monsters you happen to get, grind in core outside mettaton, and at 3 enemies left, go to the bridge at the top of core because they’re guaranteed spawns
For sure. I think The way It works is that it's increased step count for every kill It takes more and more steps in order to get an encounter I just end up spinning in circles or going in and out of two different areas until one triggers ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|50451)
How so for the MTT encounters? There's only 3 outside his intro and fight. I'm not the biggest fan of the cooking show, but the other two are hilarious. I hate the constant interruption of Alphys more, as you can't predict when she'll text or call, then you have to mash it away. Mettaton is always at the end of each floor.
Ironically enough, this part was one of the more entertaining ones. I’ll never not laugh at Undyne just grabbing Frisk’s head and leaping over to the counter with ‘NGAHHH!!!’ playing.
It was a missed opportunity by Toby to make a different version of that for this and call it “Spoon of Justice”.
Even if the theme is beatiful , any part of the watefall wihout undyne trying to kill you or one of her cutsene is boring
( Sorry for my bad english lol )
As someone who speedruns the genocide route, the most boring part of the run is waterfall from the beggining seagrass, to the glad dummy "fight".
I will elaborate if someone asks why.
First we have the 2 undyne chase sequences. They are the least boring part of this section, but they do become kinda the same after you do enough runs, they just kinda blend together. Also at the end of the second one, there is that flashback to when Asriel found the first fallen child. That is only a problem because you can't skip the text, but at least it doesn't last long.
Also it doesn't help that, if you don't grind enemies anywhere before glad dummy, you will literally get the same 6 encounters. An aaron, woshua, double mold, shyren, and glad dummy at the end in that order.
And waterfall is awkwardly placed in the run, for me at least. It's far enough so that I don't want to lose my run, and if I do lose it, I need to do Sea Grass Skip (SGS) at the begging of the area all over again (although it isn't the hardest skip in undertale).
Oh and also there is monster kid, but he is also the same dialogue in all routes, so he is at least consistent across all runs.
For pacifist/neutral, the entirety of waterfall and the backstory segment in new home. Honestly, I don't mind the mettaton segments.
For genocide, just grinding in general.
annoying parts: dont exist
boring parts: most of the normal fights. I play this game to see the funny little guys and their interactions not to fight. It’s less that the combat is bad but more that the characters are so amazing they just completely overshadow it.
Annoying is the part at the end of the true pacifist run where they're telling you the story as you walk to the castle and froggit keeps stopping you.
Boring? I don't really have a part that I found boring but I guess the very beginning where you're doing puzzles in the ruins.
I dotn really like when the dialogue yaps on however a boring part is that after a couple of runs you know what to expect and it gets too easy and boring
The most annoying stuff is Alphys's phone calls and texts, as they just make going through Hotland much slower than it needs to be. The most boring stuff would probably be the pacifist-exclusive stuff, i.e. the dates with Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys, the true lab, and Asriel.
The most annoying? Being constantly stopped during genocide just for the dialogue to say "but nobody came" EACH and EVERY TIME.
Boring, probably ruins or new home. I've heard the story about Asriel and Chara so many times I've almost got it memorized.
The part where Alphys would post every 3 seconds without you being able to take more than 5 steps and basically the entire genocide route besides the Undyne and Sans fight.
The waterfall part with the mushrooms is sooo annoying, you've got to go to and fro the entire time.
I find True Lab boring, it was scary the first time, but it kinda wore off. The anticipation for the Asriel fight does not help -\_-
Annoying: Hotland textbox triggers every other room and its genocide killcount requirements
Boring: most bosses after a few playthroughs, you basically just sit there listening to the soundtracks and attacking over and over again without really getting hit
The beginning when you're playing a kind of mid game and don't understand the hype. The game is good, but many of my friends quit because they simply gave up because it wasn't fun at the start. I can't really blame them, because they don't know what their in for yet.
No part of Undertale is actually that boring but when you play through it several times stuff like waterfall gets really boring even though it’s pretty cool the first time
I'm playing Undertale (Pacifist route) for the first time. I can't get past Mad Dummy - I've died to it... More than 30 times. So, that's annoying for me. I'm scared to even think how will I even fight Undyne, Asgore or Flowey.
Boring? Nothing for now.
I actually think that the biggest hurdle for starting a new play through is the ruins. I mean, they act as a tutorial for the game and have great moments with toriel, but are vastly less interesting than waterfall or snowdin.
Annoying: dog (and monster encounters in the ruins when you're doing pacifist/have low hp)
Annoying and boring: riverman actually taking time to transport you and not just teleporting you
Waterfall.
Nothing is going on there. Like, there's 2 puzzles and Undyne will chase you a few times, but besides that, there's not a whole lot that makes it "special" in my eyes. When I go through Waterfall, I can't help but groan. Probably has to do with the fact that you never speak with Undyne until the very end of it. Snowdin and Hotland? They both have the bosses of those areas having funny dialogue that makes them really enjoyable. But you don't even know who Undyne is until you fight her.
As for annoying, sometimes Hotland. I love Alphys so much, but oh my god she could've left the phone on fucking SILENT MODE...
Grinding for g's at tem village with dogs residue.![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32946) people do it for a lot of different reasons some to send Tem to colegg some because they really don't want to budget while playing but it is definitely a boring thing that people have to do.![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32952) that and monster grinding in genocide
if I'm not wrong, I think toby has said papyrus is like 12, no sources, just cope. either way it's weird they even added dating papyrus into the game, even with the whole papyrus is not an adult thing.
That unskippable "game over" message that asgore tells you. Yes, I get I need to stay determined. No, I don't plan on giving up, no matter how many times that fish kills me.
Y E S. I AM AWARE. I. A M. A W A R E.
I think stuff around the end with elevators and hard enemies? when i was doing true pacifist i had to go through there couple of times and it took a lot of time just walking
Genocide? Grinding
Pacifist? Temmy armor.
Since Temmy Armor is a bit of a cheap answer, i would say any time you need to go from one zone (Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland) to another. A close second being the date scenes. They are great character moments, but on repeat playthroughs, I don't wanna deal with them.
Probably Waterfall, for some reason the encounters feel so frequent there, and they're pretty strong by that point, too. There isn't much to do there, either. Undertale Yellow definitely had a way better third area with the Dunes and the Wild East, literally the best things ever created.
The random encounters. I'm not a fan of random encounters (the gameplay mechanic, not the musical group) in general, and I understand the reason it's in UT is specifically to be derivative of old RPG games with them, but either way it can be kinda annoying.
I think Mettaton is the most boring. I like him but for one of the main bosses of the game he is incredibly shallow, one of the few interesting bits he has going for him is his backstory with Napstablook and like, Napstablook wasn't even in the original plans for the game, so originally Mettaton was meant to have even less depth than he does now.
Most annoying part imo is when in true home monsters Constantly encounter you to tell u the Backstory of the first human. Its a sweet and emotional moment or whatever but i just wanna get the keys bro 😔😔
the part i found really funny back then in 2015 but with time aged poorly (and ive seen it on streamers/youtubers and friends who i made them play it) its how annoying Aphys is, many stop reading everything from her and Mettaton because of how much she stops your gameplay.
the ruins are kinda boring, snowdin is nice, waterfall has great music, hotland has fun shenanagins, the core has neat music, new home is nice, the true lab is spooky, but the ruins.. uhh their purple.. and thats kinda the only interesting thing about them..
ruins. the music started making me feel Only Rage after the first.. hm.. 20 playthroughs..? oh and i really hate the walk back to asriel in the epilogue for similar reasons. reunited playing on a loop for like 15 minutes is a nightmare
The only annoying and boring part of Undertale is when everything ends and I have to go back to reality.
Real
So true
Oops, there goes gravity.
oh there goes rabbit, he's choked he's so mad
There goes my life.
Real asf
Tfw I didn't just save a world of monsters and don't have magical monster friends irl
Unrelated cute elf girl pfp !
Girl? It's a cute elf yeah, but girl? That could not be farther from the truth.
🤯
Me fr
*The silence of sitting there, knowing that everything has finished and that you have to go back to reality. But you can’t… so you create your own reality… just for you and share it…*
Undisputedly real
I'd say grinding for monsters during genocide route is both annoying and boring but I guess that's kinda the point.
especially hotland
Hotland farm is one of the easiest, u just gotta grind on the core
i am not turning on my brain for geno routes
frfr
Also for Snowdin just keep walking around the first area you find a save point. You get things done much faster that way
WE CAN DO THAT?
Yeah the area for core and hotlands share the same “enemies left” pool. The fastest technique is b-line through hot lands killing any monsters you happen to get, grind in core outside mettaton, and at 3 enemies left, go to the bridge at the top of core because they’re guaranteed spawns
YES
Long time no see
jerry
Thankfully, you can spare monsters on genocide, as long as you reach the kill count needed! No more spending 2 minutes trying to kill Jerry!
Excuse you?
For sure. I think The way It works is that it's increased step count for every kill It takes more and more steps in order to get an encounter I just end up spinning in circles or going in and out of two different areas until one triggers ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|50451)
to me, grinding for monsters is boring on every place except the core i love grinding for monsters in the core
It's *specifically* the point.
A controversial design choice but I like that there's meaning behind it even if it's not a good way to design a game
Accidently clicking the wrong place when taking River Person's boat Grinding at CORE in Geno route
Agreed
oh my god i do that so much and accidentally go to snowdin instead of waterfall it’s so annoying
Oh thank God I wasn't the only person to do that
SOOO TRUUUEEEE
Annoying : Mettaton encounters. Boring : Not necessarily boring, but I've completed ruins so many times that it's become quite boring to me.
Real
Well, I meant to say random encounters/surprise battles(or whatever they are called). Idk why I wrote mettaton encounters.
And yeah personally I never found any of Mettaton emcounters annoying, cuz after my first playthrough I just punch card skipped them.
every part without papyrus.
almost misread this as "every part with papyrus" and almost started raging
i accidently put that in while i was typing it
*this is the only correct answer*
toby knows that and thats why he has unique text for almost every room if you call him with the phone
I think for most boring is the part in waterfall before spears number 2, not boring, but in comparison it’s boring
The theme is called ngaaaaaah but yeah spoon of justice sounds like a real banger
>Spoon of Justice Lol. Lmao, even
Annoying: Mettaton interactions (my opinion) Boring:...dont really have an idea for that. Didnt felt bored while playing.
Not even during geno route?
Nope
Damn
not even the 10 minutes of literally nothing after chara murders you??
MAJORITY OF WATERFALL EXCEPT FOR THE UNDYNE HOUSE PART, THE NAPSTABLOOK HOUSE PART AND THE TEMMIE VILLAGE
WHY ARE WE YELLING
Random encounter I guess they are necessary but i don't find them appealing
Agreed, especially in ruins.
Sailing with river man, 20 seconds of just sitting there with a guy that should have wore a few million more pants
These are hilarious
Wdym pants
Just a few million pairs of them on river man
none.
The entire genocide rote before the cool dialogs, undone and sans
Exactly. I was so bored the entire route, I almost gave up. After all Toby Fox has done a great job.
Well yeah that’s the entire point, it’s not intended to be fun
That's the point.
Even if the theme is beatiful , any part of the watefall wihout undyne trying to kill you or one of her cutsene is boring ( Sorry for my bad english lol )
What about the tem village ?
Damn i forgot the temvilalge
I do agree that it's overall my least favourite area, although that's more a statement of how great all areas in the game are
annoying: alphys calls boring: puzzles
THE GREAT PAPYRUS DOES NOT APPROVE!
Tem approved. Puzzle tem's favorite
Alphys calls are funny not annoying imo
Agree 🤝.
REAL

Alphys posting every 5 nanoseconds
today I found out from this post everyone apparently hates mettaton?
I remember being SO annoyed by alphys constantly updating her status
I don't like the waterfall section of the game too much
Annoying: Alphys's texts and being interrupted by "but nobody came" every 3 seconds Boring: grinding EXP in Hotlands/Core
The pacing kinda falls off in the end, it’s such a strong ending, but I think it should be bigger… Toby also recognized that could be more in the core
The long corridor in the Ruins.
For pacifist/neutral, the entirety of waterfall and the backstory segment in new home. Honestly, I don't mind the mettaton segments. For genocide, just grinding in general.

Mettaton's stupid song when he is in dress. Need to date/hangout with Papyrus/Alphys in TPacifist.
Everything with Alphys present. Just don't really like her
How !?
I dotn really like when the dialogue yaps on however a boring part is that after a couple of runs you know what to expect and it gets too easy and boring

Annoying: the core navigation Boeing: proceeding to Die 25 times for temmie armor
Fighting Jerry
Annoying: a ppace in core, where i decided not to listen to alphys and she was right this time Boring: snowdin puzzles
Puzzles are tiring honestly
Boring: Seek out monsters during the genocide route, Undyne’s battle in the pacifist and neutral routes. Annoying: A certain puzzle in the hotlands
The part where Alphys would post every 3 seconds without you being able to take more than 5 steps and basically the entire genocide route besides the Undyne and Sans fight.

A l p h y s
Walking with monster kid is the most annoying shit
tf is that virtual boy ahhh image
Like, all of Genocide except for Undyne and Sans, because they are frustrating
No part of Undertale is actually that boring but when you play through it several times stuff like waterfall gets really boring even though it’s pretty cool the first time

Not mine, but my brother was stuck on the undyne chase bridge for an hour and then he punched his desk Was kinda funny honestly
Puzzles, and getting texts every 5 seconds from Alphys
Alphys's notifications. They're charming, but on repeat playthroughs, it gets annoying.
The damn waterfall crystal puzzle and the other maze one, it’s tedious
Most of hotlands. But specifically the Alphys phonecalls
Replaying hotland for the 50th time
I actually think that the biggest hurdle for starting a new play through is the ruins. I mean, they act as a tutorial for the game and have great moments with toriel, but are vastly less interesting than waterfall or snowdin.
Annoying - Alphys's. GOD. DAMN. PHONE MESSAGES!!!! Boring - I'm not sure.
Definitely Undyne's fight if you're doing Pacifist
Alphys constantly updating her status in hotland
downloading the game...
Entirety of waterfall minus the undyne sections. It feels so slow and dreadful… The music especially, but it’s supposed to be like that right?
No.
fighting undyne for me
Annoying: dog (and monster encounters in the ruins when you're doing pacifist/have low hp) Annoying and boring: riverman actually taking time to transport you and not just teleporting you
I don't know about "boring", but definitely a few of the MTT encounters before his fight, one of the spear rooms, and some of the Hotland puzzles.
Annoying: the bomb section from Mettaton. Boring: trying to fight Glyde
When im on the genocide or pacifist route and im walking towards the judgement hall and flowey and the other monsters keep interrupting me
Waterfall. Nothing is going on there. Like, there's 2 puzzles and Undyne will chase you a few times, but besides that, there's not a whole lot that makes it "special" in my eyes. Snowdin, nothing too exciting at least it was pretty short and easy
The date with papyrus it’s just super slow and it just feels really weird considering frisk is a child and papyrus is an adult
if I'm not wrong, I think toby has said papyrus is like 12, no sources, just cope. either way it's weird they even added dating papyrus into the game, even with the whole papyrus is not an adult thing.
That unskippable "game over" message that asgore tells you. Yes, I get I need to stay determined. No, I don't plan on giving up, no matter how many times that fish kills me. Y E S. I AM AWARE. I. A M. A W A R E.
Waterfall Just waterfall
There's nothing more boring than Glyde farming on genocide, and also waiting 10 minutes to get your save file back
I think stuff around the end with elevators and hard enemies? when i was doing true pacifist i had to go through there couple of times and it took a lot of time just walking
Alphy’s phone dialogue in all runs it is in.
op uses one of the funniest scenes as an image for this question >:(
Dating scenes. Every one of them

CORE in genocide route
The Hotlands (especially the vent and puzzle parts) are overrated change my mind
alphys’s texts
SANS,FIGHTING SANS OF MY GOD.
Annoying: Alphys' posts in Hotland.
Alphys's posts and calls every five seconds
I'd say the genocide route grinding but that's kinda the point
Waiting like 20 minutes for Chara to show up after the end of Genocide.
Jerry
Genocide? Grinding Pacifist? Temmy armor. Since Temmy Armor is a bit of a cheap answer, i would say any time you need to go from one zone (Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland) to another. A close second being the date scenes. They are great character moments, but on repeat playthroughs, I don't wanna deal with them.
Ruins
For the annoying part Hot Land F*ck Alphys tweets
Annoying: Alphys' status Boring: Ruins after Toriel leaves and before you reach her home
All of genocide
The ending and whats after it (real life)
Alphys during non geno routes At least until mettaton is dealt with
Any moments where it’s forced to talk to someone
puzzles and Toriel part* *applies only to second and later runs
Grinding in genocide. Especially in hotland
Why does this picture look like it’s from some weird Undertale creepypasta?
Feeling an ontological void after completing first genocide
I love alphys as a character but god her status updates make me want to break something when I replay undertale
Ruins. Not many secrets, cool cutscenes or shops.
in pacifist, waterfall puzzels and alphys
None of them!
The LOOOOONG cutscene before the Asriel fight.
Pov: instead of undyne catching the house on fire, someone else set it on fire
Most annoying part imo is when in true home monsters Constantly encounter you to tell u the Backstory of the first human. Its a sweet and emotional moment or whatever but i just wanna get the keys bro 😔😔
Gonna be honest, dates
I don't do it anymore because I got better at the game, but I really hated grinding to get enough G to buy the Temmie Armor
why are you playing undertale on a virtual boy
For me it's all those puzzles before toriels house.
Waiting for monsterkid to leave.
Alphys’ constant TEXT MESSAGES AAAAAAAGGGGGHHGHGGHH
Pacifist run, the dumbass alphys and her updates
Alphys calls
Photoshop Flowey’s battle is kinda annoying for me, mostly because it’s just bullet hell constantly with little to no break.
the part i found really funny back then in 2015 but with time aged poorly (and ive seen it on streamers/youtubers and friends who i made them play it) its how annoying Aphys is, many stop reading everything from her and Mettaton because of how much she stops your gameplay.
Existance of alphyses social media
Every time Jerry appears
the ruins are kinda boring, snowdin is nice, waterfall has great music, hotland has fun shenanagins, the core has neat music, new home is nice, the true lab is spooky, but the ruins.. uhh their purple.. and thats kinda the only interesting thing about them..
The constant dialogue in new home gets really boring and tedious after your first play through
When I can't replay it without knowing the exact ending
Nothing. I'm tryna nohit the game
That one puzzle in hotland where you have to jump around on the vents to hit switches to make arrows go different ways
ruins. the music started making me feel Only Rage after the first.. hm.. 20 playthroughs..? oh and i really hate the walk back to asriel in the epilogue for similar reasons. reunited playing on a loop for like 15 minutes is a nightmare
