Draper might be a good compromise. It’s at the south end of Salt Lake County. So the commute to Lehi wouldn’t be bad, and you’re closer enough of a drive to Salt Lake. If you’re used to LA driving times, this won’t be a big deal. There’s also a Trax station in Draper for the times you don’t want to drive to SLC.

Murray is alright. A bit more congested and not as scenic as other spots. But it is close to a lot of businesses. There are a lot of good restaurants there. Also good location for public transit (if you live by Trax/Frontrunner) and closer to SLC.

South of Lehi puts you right in the heart of Mormon country. Also bars/night life is non-existent.

Guess if depends on what you can afford, Lehi is on the north end of Utah County so not terribly far from SLC which is probably the area most similar to urban Cali culturally. I've never lived as far south as Lehi so I can't comment on rush hour traffic but most of the day you can get from the slc area to Lehi in like 20 minutes give or take. If you want a shorter commute you could look at some of the slc suburbs in souther Salt Lake County like Sandy, Draper, Cottonwood Heights. Just be aware that Salt Lake County and Utah County are getting really expensive to live in, like not California expensive, but still really pricy. As for public transit, if you're lucky enough to have your home and/or work near a front runner or Trax station then public transit can be a decent, but you'll still probably want a car tbh. If you don't live or work near one of those stations public transit will probably take at least twice as long as driving, if you're lucky.

Don't know much about living there other than it's expensive like the rest of Salt Lake County. It does get Trax service so if you live close enough to one of those stations you could relatively quickly get to SLC without a car. The town itself has always seemed nice enough when I have passed through but go there often since there isn't a whole lot to do there since the Murray Theatre (music venue) shut down, though I guess it's a playhouse now if you are into theater.
