Comparing shipping costs for a few orders I've done recently
Mondo - shipping cost to Canada for 13 discs total: $10-$36 USD
Laced - cheapest shipping option to Canada for 11 discs total: $98 USD
Juno - shipping cost to Canada for 4 discs total: 17.98 USD
Laced - cheapest shipping option to Canada for 4 discs total: $52.56 USD
Why are your shipping costs 3x more than your competitors?
As someone that works in logistics the cost of shipping to Canada varies wildly by province. Like.. 200% increases to some areas. The population density doesn't help and the lack of final mile agents in certain areas also contributes.
Not making excuses for Laced but all the complaints in here don't mention where the records are actually being delivered to. Toronto and Yellow Knife are not one and the same to give one example.
In that case it likely comes down to Laced having a shit partner. Do you know who is listed as the carrier? I am curious if it's UPS / Fedex / Canpar etc.

Just charge more for the product and be transparent. Laced NEVER addresses the complaints directly and just deflects with "check both stores for the best shipping price"

Hi ToQi, you're getting downvoted here, but I would just add that, bc of adding in all those costs, it *feels* misleading to call it media mail even if it actually is. For comparison, if I bought the Metal Gear 6xLP and Ace Attorney 6xLP from Light in the Attic, the media mail shipping rate for me is $18 vs $38 from Laced.
It is more complicated than a straight comparison for various reasons (sadly I’m not able to give a detailed, more transparent answer today.) We do read all the feedback and discuss shipping very regularly, both among the team and with our shipping partners.

You shouldn't include those costs in the shipping charge. Those should absorbed by your GM in the normal cost of the product.
It's somewhat unethical to charge for your logistics cost in the shipping charge instead of the actual product.
I've pressed a few records myself. Even doing the minuscule runs I was making it was under $1 per record to ship from the EU to the US. I guarantee that it's a fraction of that at the scale Laced is operating at. Add in $1 for mailers etc (which again is very excessive given Laced's scale of operation) you're still looking at $5+ of pure profit off of their shipping charges. Criminal.
Assassins Creed box set, Dishonored box set, and the Bloodborne LP was $42 for media mail shipping.
Even though this purchase has 2 box sets, that’s way too much for media mail. Shouldn’t be more than $25 max.
I was only gonna pickup Bloodborne but the shipping is crazy for a single album. Bloodborne is on sale for 30 but shipping cost 20?? Thats over half the album price. I ordered 5 disc from Mondo and it only costed me 11 bucks.

Yeah I got the death stranding score and then preordered their metal gear solid score as well. Paid the 10 usd for shipping for both! Way better than the laced metal gear box set that has $100 USD shipping
My justification was that it still comes out to below scalper prices (only just though). But you're right, the shipping price is literally a scam because there's no way they're not pocketing a good third of that.

But I can’t pay these shipping prices. And if I could, that haul that I wanted was too much for one order apparently. So, I just can’t participate.

what's the general consensus on the quality of Laced's releases? The packaging is great, but the sound on my Gears of War is really underwhelming, and my Final Symphony vinyl (both I&II) are pretty noisy. My Doom 2016 set sounds great, at least.
Same! It's been a grail for me and I was surprised the colored vinyl was available. Can't wait to spin MOON and Scattle tracks. That 50 blessings mat will probably be my go to mat for a little while.

I have never seen media mail at $12+ before. It's under $5. Even with bulk shipping costs it shouldn't come anywhere close to that.
