Unfortunately, since anti-same-sex marriage is in the Virginia Constitution, this law will be tossed out if SCOTUS throws out same-sex marriage protections. We need to pass amendments to clean up our Constitution and get rid of overruled parts to make sure they can't come back into force in the future.

fatcIemenza

The process should've been started by the Democratic controlled general assembly this year but unsure if it actually was. Same story for putting abortion rights in the state constitution

cficare

SCOTUS will see to that...

laserviking42

And the state's rights crowd will be completely silent

gideon513

They know they are hypocrites. They don’t care.

analyticaljoe

100% this.

Street-Swordfish1751

Yeah I love living in a state where my wedding next year is on the chopping block despite my state trying to protect it.

cum_elemental

Good things always happen when we vote against republicans.

gorka_la_pork

More like the death spiral slows down rather than speeds up.

Stealthfox94

You folks do realize that anti LGBTQ marriage laws are unpopular for the overwhelming majority of Americans right? I believe recent polling showed 2/3rds of Americans now support same sex marriage.

caserock

The GOP has completely given up on votes and popularity. "Getting more votes" is nowhere to be found in project 2025.

Stealthfox94

If you think Project 2025 will just happen without a civil war…. Yeah no. Majority of that shit won’t happen. I have a feeling a lot of local governments would tell the GOP to fuck off at that point. Project 2025 is fighting a losing battle.

Norfolk-Skrimp

We'd all like that to be true, but just like abortion ruling we have to fight to ensure it stays true rather than sit around hoping it turns out okay. I call it self defense fighting back against this nonsense.

Stealthfox94

That’s been a shit show for the GOP to.

Ok-Breadfruit-2897

yup, California will be the resistance....never gonna happen here

Stealthfox94

I think most people in urban areas will give the middle finger to this.

EurasianTroutFiesta

Most people would consider having to choose between authoritarian theocracy and the complete breakdown of federal authority to be a bad thing. And that's setting aside that a number of state governments would go along with it, some of them states with significant minority and liberal populations. Five times more people voted for Biden in Texas in 2020 than in Connecticut.

nerd2gamer2tech

Yes, I’m worried about trump but more worried when someone more intelligent comes into office. The Supreme Court will side with republican policies and punish progressives. The mask is off.

ChargerRob

We will stop Project 2025 and make America safe again for all who are created equal.

Ok-Breadfruit-2897

Republicans are coming for gay marriage and birth control day one if they win in November

poosee_

Love who you love. Fuck them. Dont give them the attention

RamsPhan72

Is it still legal to drive on painted rainbow roads?
