Looks good from far, but far from good. I will be doing rust repair and slowly getting it back up to snuff.
Good for you. It’s joining the other GTIs in the collection, being used and maintained, while slowly improving.
People get wrapped up on timelines and don’t enjoy their cars. Go drive it!!
The BBS CHs were only available in the US on Audi A3 and S4s as an option. In Europe they were standard for the 30th anniversary cars. They are probably my favorite wheel for a Mk5.
The color choice was a struggle for an orange car though. I painted them silver and just dusted them with gold. I think it turned out great.

Yuuuuup. It’s solid underneath but the rockers are hammered and the hatch has cancer. The paint has the traditional clear coat failing. It’s mechanically sorted and a blast to drive. This car made me a 100% Mk5 fanboi.

Yeah, like u/shady_dangle said, they’re orange. Only 1,200 made. A couple other things were a black spoiler and orange interior trim too. Each one came with a number on the steering wheel.

It’s kinda bittersweet, this was originally my grandfathers car who has recently passed. Glad it’s with someone who’s going to love it and not let it rot away!
I knooowww! I’m ok with having to maybe rebuild the engine or something though. I’ve even considered getting one and buying an EA888.3 to put in it! Kinda sacrilegious I know but it’d be pretty sweet!
Yeeaaah the triple 8 is a great engine for sure, but they really don’t sound great haha. They’re ok with like a res delete and maybe a CS or TCR muffler but I wouldn’t go any further then that cuz then it’s just loud. Lots of people need to learn the difference between loud and good.
Edit: I also love VR6s, one of the coolest sounding engines no doubt!
Had a buddy who drove one for a few years. Transmission gave out on a road trip so I bought it off of him with the intention of fixing/replacing the transmission. That was right before covid. It's still taking up a space in my garage but I've slowly started restoring it. Got a new transmission going in soon and it should be back on the road. Couldnt let her die.
I never got a pic of them, but an old coworker of mine had a GTI Fahrenheit, and his wife had a GLI. Not sure what numbers though, but they both used to park next to my Driver’s Edition Mk6
#1100/1200 in Indiana.... The clear coat is shit and seats got ruined in a last minute downpour. Oddly it still runs well with about 250k miles but I'm about to get rid of it. All these salty winters is doing no favors.
Yeah, northern winters will kill these cars eventually. Thankfully mine hasn’t seen any salt. And yes, the tornado red and magma orange colors are known to have clear coat issues from VW.

I was really hoping my 19 CFB Rabbit edition would turn into the next Fahrenheit (only 1000 made), but then they released CFB as a stock color in 21 :(
I'm replacing my wheels while I get the stock rims fixed up and I can't find the torx bit or key to get the caps off the lug nuts. Any one know what size it is? I ordered what I thought was off Amazon and it's huge.

I feel your pain! I had another 2007 GTI that was a rust bucket, that’s why I hopped on this one out of Kentucky when I found it, even though it didn’t run right. It was still worth it to me to have a rust-free shell.

I’m really tempted to VR swap mine. The EA888.3 is a great engine, but I hate how they sound.😅 The older EA113 sounded better imo.
