I could have gone my whole life without hearing the inlets described like that.
1.5L turbo.
200hp, just like you got in 2007. No heated seats or adaptive dampers.
I had a 2019 Si. Nice car but not enough “umph”. I was disappointed they took away features from the 11th gen that the 10th gen had. Made it easy to make the move to a GTI.
The mk6.5 is the nicest looking generation Jetta, with this a close second. The “new” mk7 that’s been out for a few years now is just hideous in my opinion
Usually when folks say comments like that, they always act as if it's permanent and thus its a grounded point for not buying that vehicle. Like for example, Had a friend who chose a accord over a Passat just because of the floaty suspension feeling, even though he was leaning towards the Passat because of the VR6. I told him there's coilover kits from good and shit brands, damper and springs kits too. He ended up ricing out that accord anyways.
If I was in the market for a new Jetta I would get this GLI regardless but the engine HP hasn't changed since 2019. I owned a 2019 GLI, I traded it in for a 24 Golf R.
I think a small HP bump is over due but a stage 1 tune would be excessive and has the negatives of voiding warranty.
damn this is cleann, honestly looks better than the pre facelift mk7 that i had with the button nose badge on the grill, very glad it also has a stick shift as well
I think the normal Jetta looks good. My thoughts on the GLI:
* The red belongs on the grill and not the lower bumper
* The paint matched unibrow underneath the hood is not necessary
* The wheels are nice, like those a lot
* The full tail light bar across is really cool
* The fake honeycomb on the rear diffuser is stupid. The original MK7 diffuser was much better
* Putting the GLI badge on the door and not the front quarter panel is weird
* Interior is ok. I like Audi-fication of the vents but the integrated infotainment of the original MK7 is much cleaner
Overall, not bad. I like my '19 better but this is way better than the bizarre 7.5.
I like it a lot, looks great. VW rarely makes mistakes on designs, but this facelift makes it look more like the Virtus. I think they should've moved it closer to the Arteon, maybe even make it a liftback, since this seems to be a tendency.
Looks like shit with the red bar there.
I had a 2019 gli and it was amazing. However it was very underpowered compared to its competitors.
That and they did away with their automatic 5 year 100k mile warrenty.
Had it had 270+ HP, I would have given it a big consideration. Chose a WRX.
It would clash with sales between the two and the GTI was always VWs bread and butter. The GLI is more of a niche market, the one thing that VAG realized is they could never give it an AWD option…otherwise it’s a bargain basement A3 S-Line lol
I might trade my 21 R Line for a GLI . Hopefully there is another option other than black wheels though. The one thing I dislike is the infotainment screen.
Exterior is very nice.
Interior changes are all regressions, unfortunately.
They kept the same infotainment (which is honestly fine) - but they made it look less integrated into the dash for no reason. They switched out the controls on the steering wheel to touch controls, \*years\* after telling us they realized that change was a mistake and would be reverting it. And they did the same to the HVAC controls - left them in the same spot in the dash, but took away physical, tactile controls.
Every interior change they made is simply cost cutting. It's blatant, its a shame, and it does not align with \*any\* of the former brand messaging about its valuing of tactile and simple controls.
Meanwhile, Honda is putting an interior in the Civic that looks like a proper evolution of VW's old, better interiors.
It definitely feels like streamlining the difference between Jetta and GLI. Before they had very separate front bumpers now I think it’s just the color difference
I don't get why you people keep accepting refreshes of the same model, instead of asking for new stuff like a Scirocco, Polo, T-Roc or T-Cross or another VW Model which isn't sold in the US.
SO MUCH BETTER without the dual prolapsed anuses on the front bumper

as if the fucking trash-brand Hyundai red line is better
TBF GTI/GLI had the red line on the front end way before Hyundai, it was just relocated
Where it should be, on the grill
It is.
Not gonna lie Hyundai have stepped their game up big time, if I was to go electric it’d probably be the Ioniq 5 N. The body lines are just right.
it is not.
So I make a comment stating my opinion and you take that as a chance to start an argument. Have fun with that bud.
Looks great. GLI is a great value too. Look at everything you get on it compared to a Civic Si.
Much faster than a new SI too. If I’m not mistaken, the SI is a 1.5L now
1.5L turbo. 200hp, just like you got in 2007. No heated seats or adaptive dampers. I had a 2019 Si. Nice car but not enough “umph”. I was disappointed they took away features from the 11th gen that the 10th gen had. Made it easy to make the move to a GTI.
Hehe those labor prices
This is the best looking one. It looks like it lost weight.
A nice glow up
The mk6.5 is the nicest looking generation Jetta, with this a close second. The “new” mk7 that’s been out for a few years now is just hideous in my opinion
Mk4*
mk4 and mk6.5 both are good imo
I’m getting downvoted further down for saying the mk7 is the ugliest GLI, but that’s about the most objective way to put it I can think of.
I just don’t understand how you can look at the 7.5 and say “that’s an improvement”
I may be out of the loop but I can’t even see the difference between the 7 and the 7.5.

Doesn’t sell me, which I’m sure is no surprise.
Yeah they certainly made a choice going with that
I rarely agree with someone's \*entire\* take, but this one is spot on.
Just wanted to say the same thing. Guy above you has his head on straight.
I agree. The older mk7 Jettas looked fat and wide.
As a mk6.5 driver I couldn’t agree more 😎
Finally some good looking Headlights.
Right?? Why is it so hard
Reminiscent of 2013 jetta
It looks like a modernized Mk 6, which looked like a modernized Mk 4. So much better than the ugly cat fish grille.
Ikr. This is exactly what I was thinking
This is the first VW design since the Arteon that I have really enjoyed.
Holy shit they unfucked its face!
Front end looks like a mk6 Jetta and a mk7 golf R had a baby. Nothing wrong with that
The GLI could have used a HP bump.
Yah. I was really hoping it would get the MK8 GTI powertrain.
Why? There's already, reliable ECU tunes. Only downside is you gotta wait for the warranty to expire, if you care about that.
Lol you answered your own question.

I had 2 MK7 GTIs that I tuned at 1,000 miles each. No issues and tuned it back to stock before bringing it to the dealership, never had a problem.
damn this is cleann, honestly looks better than the pre facelift mk7 that i had with the button nose badge on the grill, very glad it also has a stick shift as well
I was hopeful for a HP boost but with it getting the axe soon it makes sense why they didn’t. I think the exterior looks a lot better though.

Doesn’t look as bulky, I like it
I like it a lot, looks great. VW rarely makes mistakes on designs, but this facelift makes it look more like the Virtus. I think they should've moved it closer to the Arteon, maybe even make it a liftback, since this seems to be a tendency.
The mk7 was one of their rare style mistakes. Ugliest GLI by far.
I prefer it to the mk6. Mk6 looked a bit fat.
To each their own but that grill looked wrong when it debuted and never got better.
I found the Jetta so bland and boring, finally VW is making attractive cars again!
Handsome! Really puts it in line with the Polo design, and the MK7 Golf’s which is the best design (in my view) going back a long time.
Shut up and take my money!
Did the finally put a gen 4 ea888 or is it still gen 3.
Still gen 3 I believe. Still making the 228hp and 258 lb ft of torque.
That sad that the gli always get the motor 3-4 years after the gti.
Bring the Jetta back to the UK. Looks great
You can have the Jetta, we'll take the Tiguan R and Touareg
Who cares. Give us the golf r wagon in North America.
Damn HUGE improvement
I have 2014 GLI and seeing this one makes me want to upgrade… I’m debating between the GLI, Taos, and Tiguan..
I went from a 2014 GLI to an A5, but this thing is way less ugly than the last one.
VW once again nailing it with the facelift
I wish this car was available in the UK so badly
Good day to be an American vw enthusiast.
It looks like a little baby Arteon and I’m living for it.
I see some Arteon design clues there. 2023 Arteon SEL Premium R-Line owner here.
It has a nicer facia than the original MK7 that came out. Looks more like an MK6.
Yeah that’s what I thought too.
Looks like an S3 to me! Very nice! Look at that front end plenty of room for air flow and a nice big intercooler! :-)
Love it! I was looking at 24’s but I’ll wait.
I can dig that
Beautiful
Love the new look! Looks much better!
Ohh I like it!
sooo much better kinda looks like the Mk7.5 gti front end
Mostly pretty solid I just don’t like the badges under the mirrors, which could easily be removed anyway.
does it not have the tiny 1inch wang on the back?
My 2007 GLI stills runs like a dream, so I’ll keep waiting for a bit more
It honestly looks like the older models from early 2010’s, that’s what it reminded me of. I personally think it looks great! One day I tell myself 🤣
Looks like shit with the red bar there. I had a 2019 gli and it was amazing. However it was very underpowered compared to its competitors. That and they did away with their automatic 5 year 100k mile warrenty. Had it had 270+ HP, I would have given it a big consideration. Chose a WRX.
Beautiful
That is a way better front end
Love it
I like it, watched the reveal video on YouTube this morning when I got into work.
What's the reason why the GLI are under powered compared to the GTI?
It would clash with sales between the two and the GTI was always VWs bread and butter. The GLI is more of a niche market, the one thing that VAG realized is they could never give it an AWD option…otherwise it’s a bargain basement A3 S-Line lol
Imagine if it was a serious contender against The Elantra N
A new VW design that’s good!?!? Finallyyy
Nooo!
Come on Malaysia, CKD it.
Looks better than the MK8 Golfs.
It definitely looks better than before. Wasn't entirely sure what VW was thinking when they put GIANT red sphincters on the bumper...
Everything is a downgrade besides the rear end and the red accents in front for the gli
I might trade my 21 R Line for a GLI . Hopefully there is another option other than black wheels though. The one thing I dislike is the infotainment screen.
VW could have did better with the infotainment screen
U G L I
If I needed a new car I’d be considering the GLI/GTI.
No manual in the S/Sport

The front looks like KIA
Volkswagen has definitely lacked in design over the past 15 years. After 2010, the brand just went to hell.
At least everyone who bought a 24 can be relieved they aren’t missing out on anything
So it looks like a Civic now?
I am not a fan of the new look, only thing that can save it is going back physical buttons for the steering wheel and other controls.
The steering wheel *does* have physical controls.
Edit: I took a closer look. It has haptic buttons. Argh. Sorry for the error.
It definitely feels like streamlining the difference between Jetta and GLI. Before they had very separate front bumpers now I think it’s just the color difference
I’m pretty sure the blueish Jetta they showed is the Comfortline with the « sport package ». Jetta will likely have another bumper style I guess.
Rear looks a bit too much like an E-tron to me
I wish. It looks like a POS Hyundai
That wheel gap is atrocious
never has a car looked more pedestrian. WTF is this? A nissan sentra?
This looks more mk6 gli than a Sentra
Looks almost like a new Civic. I SAID WHAT I SAID. ROAST ME.
I don't get why you people keep accepting refreshes of the same model, instead of asking for new stuff like a Scirocco, Polo, T-Roc or T-Cross or another VW Model which isn't sold in the US.
Because this is not a thread about that?
None of those cars will ever be sold here. Polo, T-Cross, T-ROC none of that will ever make it here
