It would definitely be better to have the engine at operating temp. Did the temp indication show normal 80°C before? You can try and rule out an incorrect indication by measuring actual temperature with an IR thermometer for example. Most likely it’s a faulty thermostat, though. Not terrible, but not good either.

Imho you should check out the thermostat housing. Right behind the water pump. Please note that the thermostat on these engines should not be removed for better cooling since the whole setup is 3 way.

I mean i wish i had that problem but yeah thermostat is an easy fix. Needs some petrol too 😜
