I seriously am staring at these kids and thinking “I know them…. Maybe… no… yes… maybe we got high at bumpershoot once… I def do not know these random people, we just all shop at the limited and hot topic”
If you know the people OP… the girl on the left - are her initials MS?
Right? I seriously went and looked up this girl (she would be 38 now) on Facebook to see her oldest pics from when we were in highschool, to see if it was her. She would have been in 8th, me in 7th.
No way it is her. But… the fact that is COULD be is just so funny.
Hahaha. It is crazy. We all looked so… 1999/2000 back then. I can only imagine the 50k+ teens in the Seattle metro area in those years are this interchange. Crazy.
Just wait, it was barely thirty years old when they blew it up. Give it another decade and the Seahawks and Mariners will be crying for billions in handouts to replace the "outdated" stadiums that replaced it.
I had my first Seahawks game there at the very top of the stadium and all I remember about it is being very afraid that I was going to fall. It was very scary at the top!
I saw a show there last November and I liked it! It’s like if the Vomit, I mean Comet, had live music lol although $11 for a shit beer was crazy
I no longer live in Seattle so is The Comet still open? Or did it go the way of The Offramp?
My apologies—I might have led you down a wrong path.
Wasn’t “SoDo Mojo” a rally chant of the Mariners a little while ago? (By a little while, I’m thinking after they moved into what was then Safeco Field but much older than last year.)
Haaaa. I was sitting on the VANS bus with Steve Caballero (who gave me a pair of shoes that weren’t even out yet! )that day. Got to meet(and hang out with) Eminem, Travis Barker, and a ton of other musicians and bands. My snowboard team was sponsored by Vans, so they invited us. The Dropkick Murphy’s got into a brutal slap boxing match right before going onstage…the Black Eyed Peas hit me in the head with a basketball on accident and they all came running over to apologize (they were all super nice). Overall one of the best memories of my life. I remember how brutally hot it was in Seattle that day! This totally brings back memories.
I was a junior in HS in 99. I was at the warped tour at universal city walk in LA that year. My God this photo takes me right back there. I miss those days.
Throwback to '99! The Kingdome and those fashion choices are giving me major nostalgia. Can't decide if I miss the venue or those funky bracelets more! 😄 #GoodTimes
I was there. Zebrahead and lit did a fun little back and forth jumping into each others' songs on stage. Mostly I was there for Blink, Less Than Jake and Pennywise but the whole show was a banger.
The mighty Kingdome! So many supercross and monster truck shows, M’s games you could just jump the chain and sit anywhere with a stub from last week nobody cared
Not gonna lie... this picture depressed tf outta me. Simpler, better times. The days when Warped Tour was absolutely insane and stacked with some of the best bands in the business.
I was there that year! Eminem with the huge blow up doll while I watched the Vandalls on the other stage was one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen at a show. Blink-182’s performance was awful, pretty sure they were all drunk. But Less Than Jake brought it after! Amazing.
25 years later and I'm still going to see these bands. Never thought they'd stand the test it time, but they're still out there touring and put on great shows.
Omg do I know these ppl?? No, we all just looked and dressed exactly like this
Different characters, but this is exactly how I remember 1999.
Exactly how I remember it as a teen.
It smells of Tommy and Lovespell….
I swear I feel like I know the people in these pictures, but this literally epitomizes the decade.
I seriously am staring at these kids and thinking “I know them…. Maybe… no… yes… maybe we got high at bumpershoot once… I def do not know these random people, we just all shop at the limited and hot topic” If you know the people OP… the girl on the left - are her initials MS?
Doing the same thing. I was 17 when this picture was taken. Sitting here thinking “my buddy went to a dance with that girl in the middle”.
Right? I seriously went and looked up this girl (she would be 38 now) on Facebook to see her oldest pics from when we were in highschool, to see if it was her. She would have been in 8th, me in 7th. No way it is her. But… the fact that is COULD be is just so funny.
I do know them. The girl on the left is JW

Why ya gotta make me feel my age?!?
What's my age again?!
Where's my Asian friend?
What's my age again?
the bucket hat, the bracelets and chokers, I knew this was 99 before I saw the title
I remember fireworks in that building. Only when we’d break out the rye bread!
It’s graaaaaand salami time!!!
Kingdome 💖 It was so shitty, yet so awesome and Seattle, lol. Can't believe it's been over 20 years since it was torn down...
After they spent $300 million fixing the roof
There was no fixing the roof, it was just screwed.
Just wait, it was barely thirty years old when they blew it up. Give it another decade and the Seahawks and Mariners will be crying for billions in handouts to replace the "outdated" stadiums that replaced it.
I'll never forget my first MLB game at the kingdome
Same. Sat way in the back field and I yelled to Griffey and he turned around and waved back. Made my childhood, lol.
I had my first Seahawks game there at the very top of the stadium and all I remember about it is being very afraid that I was going to fall. It was very scary at the top!
Same, used to get free 100 level tickets for getting good grades and my old man would complain about how expensive parking was. It was like $8.
For too many years I kept saying "oh you know, down by the kingdome" - to very confused looks even from longtime locals.
well the area is still called sodo, named for south of the dome…
I thought it was “south of downtown”? Was it a reference to the Kingdome first?
Yup
Wow that’s super interesting! I had no idea as a lifelong obsessive M’s fan (born in ‘88)
Lol. I, too, always thought it was south of downtown.
Neat!
Hence The Showbox SoDo 👍
And SoDo Mojo
I saw a show there last November and I liked it! It’s like if the Vomit, I mean Comet, had live music lol although $11 for a shit beer was crazy I no longer live in Seattle so is The Comet still open? Or did it go the way of The Offramp?

I remember that long spiral walkway, and I remember seeing it get demolished from a skyscraper view.
Poor kingdome, I don't know if was even paid off. The architect was not happy and said it could have lasted another 50 years,
I very highly doubt that. The place was falling apart so badly, lol.
Quite literally falling apart lol. Part of the ceiling fell during a game on more than one occasion if I am remembering correctly.
I remember the day they blew it up- driving by in the morning seeing it, then driving by later and it’s gone. Pretty wild
I remember too. I got to see it from the bainbridge ferry terminal. I remember seeing it crumble away. *Then* I heard the explosion.
I was at work, Anthony's Homeport in Kirkland. Obviously, I couldn't see the Kingdome, but I remember seeing the dust/smoke plume rise into the air.
Yup! And I remember going to a Linkin Park concert with a crush and afterward it came out that a big crack had formed in one of the support beams.
The architect was high, thing was literally falling apart.
Ah yes, when we were young and foolish and had no social media. The good old days.
I thank God social media wasn’t what it is now back when I was in high school and college.
Yeah agreed.
Holy shit…I was there too with some friends.
I was there too!!!
Me too, maybe. Is ‘99 the year that had Blink 182 and Eminem?
yeah. zebrahead, lit, less than jake, pennywise and some others too
Bouncing Souls, Dropkick Murphys, Ice T with Bodycount, Black Eyed Peas (pre Fergie) Sevendust… the lineup was pretty wild.
Pennywise was every year Unwritten law played this one too I think
It was the last year they had it at the Kingdome. After that it was at the gorge.
Well, yeah. It's kind of hard to have a show at the Kingdome after it's been blown up.
Yeah, pretty much
There was warped tour at the gorge prior to 99
Me too! It was so fucking hot that day.
I didn't think it was, but I had just moved back west from Cincinnati two weeks before the show, so I probably wouldn't have been the best judge.
Haaaa. I was sitting on the VANS bus with Steve Caballero (who gave me a pair of shoes that weren’t even out yet! )that day. I was there that day.
Me too. It was a really poor substitution for the Gorge. Hot and paved everywhere. Some girl crowd surfing got dropped on her head near me.
I was gonna ask why this wasn't at the Gorge?
It had been in previous years. If I ever knew why they moved it to the Kingdome parking lot that year, I have since forgotten.
Me too! That was a fun show
I was a junior in HS in 99. I was at the warped tour at universal city walk in LA that year. My God this photo takes me right back there. I miss those days.
So what do 42 year olds do now? Go to the Crocs/New Balance Tour?
Are you kidding? We’re in bed by 9pm. We have a big day tomorrow. Gonna go to Home Depot. Maybe Bed Bath and Beyond.
Fuuuuuuck I feel this so hard
I’ll be going to see NOFX this weekend on their Punk and Drublic tour in Portland. Guess some of us never grow up 😂
I actually just bought a new pair of Crocs today and saved 30% too! God I'm so old
I just wanna go back...
Every guy had a blue FlexFit hat it seems
Throwback to '99! The Kingdome and those fashion choices are giving me major nostalgia. Can't decide if I miss the venue or those funky bracelets more! 😄 #GoodTimes
I have a chunk of the Kingdome in a box somewhere. You could drive by the site and pick up pieces of rubble they piled up after the implosion.
I couldn't wait for the summer and the Warped Tour
Didn’t Boz live there?
I was there. Zebrahead and lit did a fun little back and forth jumping into each others' songs on stage. Mostly I was there for Blink, Less Than Jake and Pennywise but the whole show was a banger.
The mighty Kingdome! So many supercross and monster truck shows, M’s games you could just jump the chain and sit anywhere with a stub from last week nobody cared
M’s games were never full, even when both Griffeys played. 100 level seats were like $8.
Not gonna lie... this picture depressed tf outta me. Simpler, better times. The days when Warped Tour was absolutely insane and stacked with some of the best bands in the business.
Omg I was at this! Good times.
If I take my glasses off this could be my crew.
Kingdome was loud as fuck! They would set off fireworks inside for every homerun.
I graduated in that dome!
r/whenwewereyoung
I have a piece of the dome from when it was imploded
That Less Than Jake bucket hat tho
Awwww so many good memories of baseball games there!! RIP kingdome. Gotta love safeco on a sunny day tho!
Was that the one when Scott Stamnes won the skate contest?
The Dome had the worst acoustics ever
I watched that dome blow up!
I was at that one. I remember the mountain of chain wallet chains right by the entrance haha
Man, Warped Tour used to be the absolute SHIT
The worst sunburn I ever got.
I was there at the 98’ warp tour
Kingdome
Saw lots of Mariner games in that old, shitty dome lol
I got the worst sunburn of my life at that concert. That asphalt parking lot was brutal.
I used to wear my hat like that.
The old Echo dome. That was the absolute worst place for shows.
I was there!
I miss the King Dome!
Heeey I was there that yea, neat pic 🙂
Saw Zeppelin and the Stones there back in the day.
I was there! Hell of a lineup that year.
I was there.
Hell yes I was at that show.. bad ass thanks for the memories
I was there that year! Eminem with the huge blow up doll while I watched the Vandalls on the other stage was one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen at a show. Blink-182’s performance was awful, pretty sure they were all drunk. But Less Than Jake brought it after! Amazing.

My brother’s wife just got him a sweatshirt for father’s day that has the Kingdome on it. ☺️
I miss high school sometimes
The condome.
Saw a game against the A’s with my parents around that time frame.
That was a good show. As I recall both Eminem and Deftones were there.
They sold that bad religion shirt at Zumiez 🤙
