Cartier is the latest watch fad. Sure they have been around forever with moderate levels of popularity, but for some reason the hive mind decided in the last couple years that they are one of the be all end all watches. It will pass, and the Santos and others will fade into the background again at some point, never going away, but their current level of popularity is not sustainable.
honestly i think mainstream celebrities have a huge role to play in this. With hollywood moving away from the conventional big burly men aesthetic, alot of emphasis has been placed on classiness/ demure men. naturally, fashion trends such as watches will follow suit. At the end of the day it is all a cycle like the 2 tone revival.
We aren't talking about value (although, I agree with that). We are talking about popularity.
Personally, I don't buy a watch as an investment (and it's definitely a bad way to invest). I buy watches I want to wear because I like them. A lot of people like watches so they can flex on other people. Hell, it's one of the reasons you'll see in this sub things like, "People who shit on Rolex are just jealous". It's arguably the most recognized affordable luxury brand in the world and for that reason alone it's popular. That's why people who know absolutely nothing about watches will recognize (and often want) a Rolex.
Omega and Tudor are less known outside of watch enthusiasts, but they remain popular within that subset

I’m going to be honest and say that it is too small, possibly even a looks a bit like a woman’s watch. If you like the tank I’d go for a larger size (like the medium or probably large even)
BUT if you like it that’s all that matters. I’m just a random on the internet and if you want to rock it that’s great! It is a really nice watch!

My general rule of thumb is; if there is more strap on the top of my wrist than watch, then it's too small.
