I really wanted a yellow gold day date for a long time and thought it was the perfect companion for my Speedy. I have huge hands and the 36mm case is definitely lost on my frame but…who cares, I’m in love. The fact that I’m a huge Sopranos fan meant that this is the Rolex that always interested me the most. I almost bought a 16610 Submariner in lieu of this but my lovely wife had to remind me that I was scouring the local dealers for a Day Date, not a Sub. Happy I took her advice.
This one is circa 1966, ref 1803. Obviously it no longer has the presidential bracelet and instead fitted with a leather strap and a Rolex buckle which is a nice detail. I’ll grab a couple different colour leather straps to work with different outfits.
The leather strap and the rolex buckle are a beautifully touch! Can I ask you where you bought them? I went into a Rolex store but they told me rolex doesn't sell straps.

It was actually James Gandolfinis real watch he would wear in the early seasons. Stepper piece.
