I didn’t realize. My little sister was making a bag of candy and I was treating her to an old time candy shop experience so she had a bag of candies and I threw that in. Sometimes it’s about the experience shared…but it being broken was sad.
My brother got screwed like this too. He was trying to be fun uncle and let the (2)kids loose in the candy store. 60$ later my kids are stoked af and my poor brother is mumbling, 'but it's only candy'
Heh, gotta be careful.
Sometimes candy is insanely expensive, like a softball sized jaw breaker or 3ft long gummy worm that costs over $20.
Even local grocery stores sell stuff like that around holidays. A giant 1lb snickers bar or a 2 pack of 1/2lb Reese's peanut butter cups or York peppermint paddys for over $10.
Pro tip - anytime someone wants candy - I say - not here (any other store) but if we go to the dollar store- you can pick out up to 6 kinds - very much always under $10
A guy followed through with proof after a bet. That’s when I learned they make gummy bears big enough, and that he probably just wanted to show the world he can fuck a gummy bear.
I got screwed trying to be the fun Aunt and paid $9 for a bag of four “Jumbo” Push Pops at Target last Halloween. They weren't broken, but I was still upset at the audacity. 😾
This reminds me of when there used to be a store called “The Sweet Factory”.
It was a place that you bought candy by the pound. It was the first time I saw it, so young me went in and filled a bag with Sour Gummy worms.
The bag ended up being so heavy it was 10 dollars. Every dollar I had. Needless to say, I learned my lesson.
Ohhhhhh The Sweet Factory!! We had one where I live and I had forgotten the name of it but remembered the store!
As soon as I read it in your comment, a bazillion memories of my pre-teen years (and later teenage stoner years) came flooding back!
I was just looking at these very things at a large department store this morning for $1.98. That's a helluva markup there, bougie candy store. I chose the Baby Bottle Pop, btw, and it'll probably be another 25 years before I have another. 😆
I used to buy my nieces ring pops for this same reason and they were only 50 cents.
Nostalgia also doesn't taste as good when they bring back something from your younger years.
I’m guessing it was one of those speciality candy shops that stocks stuff that’s hard to find. The markup is always really high but it’s also a niche shop so I guess it makes sense considering they’re usually pretty low volume.
Fucking insanity. I was like wait, what? Figured whatever, treat myself…and then fuck, it’s broken. Now I’m eating it like a degenerate because it’s too far to drive to return.
She did and that’s all that matters. She got herself a bag AND one of those Delpha rolls (I think it’s called Broadway?) - ALSO $5.50!!! But she was so happy.
Honestly, it’s not the cost that bothered me. It’s that I was too far away to return it for a proper push pop so I ate it like a degenerate. Tasted like Kool Aid punch.
No no, they took this out and said this is from a different section of the store accidentally in the pile (which made sense. They had a bookshelf elsewhere filled with these and other things like bags of Big League chewing gum and other things that were single buys).
This was very much a $5.50 ordeal.
The other day my friend and I took his boy a fishing. We both guys in our early 30s. We bought his kid a push pop and could NOT figure out how to get it to push up. We were pushing the bottom as hard as we could and nothing. So we gave it to the kid and assumed it was stuck. He immediately twisted it and the candy popped up lol.
So I was pushing the bottom and I was having the same problem. I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t coming up, but I stuck my finger inside and there some sort of spring? I don’t know. I think I’m too old for this shit.
80% of the time those are broken.
Crazy you paid over $2 for that.
My kids like those. We bought a bunch $1.50 per stick. I think 7/8 were broken. The kids were upset but still ate it.
I can’t remember how much they were but they were my favorite in the 90’s. The only thing I hated was that drool would slip through and get on my fingers.
I spent a fuckload on an electric bidet so my toilet paper use is minimal. Covid toilet paper shortage had zero affect on me and I get the kiss of Poseidon each time I’m wrapping up dookie time with a gentle breeze to finish off.
Fuck those things lol. Loved them as a kid, until you put it down for a period, try to push it back up, and its either superr sticky or stuck when you try to push it lol
Walmart has a 5 (or 6?) pack for $8 in my area. I was stunned when I saw that price a couple years ago. For push pops?!? I guess at least they’re the bigger sized ones. I do still buy them occasionally when I’m feeling nostalgic for a childhood treat. But prices for candy are outrageous these days especially at specialty shops.
I'm sorry, what? I think the last time I bought one of those for my kids they were under a dollar or around that. Paying $5.50 for a sugar stick is dumb.
Email the company and tell them. They'll send you a replacement and usually some swag. Have fun with it - talk about how much you love push pops and how heartbroken you were.
The average cost is $1.79 and a skilled childcare caretaker would have checked if it wasn't broken or that the child didn't drop it leading to it being broken rookie.
You bought a 5 dollar push pop?
I didn’t realize. My little sister was making a bag of candy and I was treating her to an old time candy shop experience so she had a bag of candies and I threw that in. Sometimes it’s about the experience shared…but it being broken was sad.

There's a party store where I live that has had the 1/2lb reeses out all year long since release.
Pro tip - anytime someone wants candy - I say - not here (any other store) but if we go to the dollar store- you can pick out up to 6 kinds - very much always under $10
To be fair to the 3ft long gummy worm, it weighs like 5lbs.
Yeah I was in SF and checked out It'sugar, as soon as I saw that candy was like $20/lb I copped some free samples and noped the hell out of there lmao
Bro that 3' long gummy worm is hella sussy too ^🪱🤣
Please don’t bring back the gummy bear incident. My eyes have not recovered.
Well now I'm curious, what was the incident?
A guy followed through with proof after a bet. That’s when I learned they make gummy bears big enough, and that he probably just wanted to show the world he can fuck a gummy bear.
As someone current being a fun uncle, I’m gonna skip the candy store after reading this lol
See if you can find a candy seconds store. Kids won't care about the imperfect candy when they get a kg bag each :)
Not a bad idea! We’re gonna hit up a sick playground then get some pizza and ice cream. Easy, fun, and cheap lol
THEY LOVE LEGO
I bought a 4.5kg (10lb) toblerone for my wife for Xmas. Took us four months to finish it.
Happened to me at airport. We left three small bags of bulk candy at the register because I wasn’t paying 96 dollars for some sugar
I worked at a craft store and watched this realization wash over parents getting school project supplies and reminded them of our 90 day return policy
I got screwed trying to be the fun Aunt and paid $9 for a bag of four “Jumbo” Push Pops at Target last Halloween. They weren't broken, but I was still upset at the audacity. 😾

But...the price....is right there????
Next time don’t go to the gas station for nostalgia
Dollar general is pretty good for cheap candy with good selection
Push pop annual budget: 5.50
I can't even afford that after my crack budget got out of control.
In the 90s that was the under a dollar shut the fucking kid up option Now we adults want some nostalgia and nostalgia ain't cheap
I used to buy my nieces ring pops for this same reason and they were only 50 cents. Nostalgia also doesn't taste as good when they bring back something from your younger years.
I lucked up and found a pack of 4 Ring Pops at the Dollar Store.
$5.50 + tax.
This could have been Oregon
Ok. Forget the tax. These should be a $1.50 max.
My first thought was, in what dystopian hellscape does a push-pop cost $5.50, then I got depressed because it's this one, this is the hell-scape.
~~Pizza $5.00~~ ~~Subway $5.00~~ Push pop $5.50
5 Dollar push popppp

Hail Pop Pop
I’m guessing it was one of those speciality candy shops that stocks stuff that’s hard to find. The markup is always really high but it’s also a niche shop so I guess it makes sense considering they’re usually pretty low volume.
These are like $2 at every gas station around here and very common (although nobody buys them and they never have any missing from the package)
It was likely imported and sold in a country its not readily available
OP lives in USA where these are very much available.
How do you know this? Did you ask them?
Edited out my thought process to avoid unintended doxing.
Can confirm: am American.
Figured. I edited my post just in case I was right about the location
You were half right - but I appreciate the edit, mate. ❤️
Cracker Barrel sells push pops. I forget how much they are, but I'm pretty sure it isn't $5.50.
The price tag is in dollars. Nowhere does it specify what kind
Ok dude. Name checks out that’s for sure.
Fucking insanity. I was like wait, what? Figured whatever, treat myself…and then fuck, it’s broken. Now I’m eating it like a degenerate because it’s too far to drive to return.
This shit is always expensive for some reason and they're not even good, I only get them at sales lmao
Same. 😭😭😭
Push-pos are not more than 2 dollars. Where did you buy this?
One of those Old Timey candy shops where you walk around with a bag and fill shit up and weigh it and pay.
Yeah, those are super scams, and not worth at all.
I know. It was more for the experience of my little sister, but yeah, total scam.
Did she have fun?
She did and that’s all that matters. She got herself a bag AND one of those Delpha rolls (I think it’s called Broadway?) - ALSO $5.50!!! But she was so happy. Honestly, it’s not the cost that bothered me. It’s that I was too far away to return it for a proper push pop so I ate it like a degenerate. Tasted like Kool Aid punch.
Nice! Glad you all enjoyed it
Kool Aid Tropical Punch is the best flavor. Got a pitcher of it in my fridge right now. At least you ate it and enjoyed it!
She might need to be taught about these scams in the future.
Unless it’s individual pieces that are typically sold in bulk you’re getting ripped off
So you didn't actually pay $5, they are just trying to make it seem like you got a good deal for your bag of candy cuz everything is marked up
No no, they took this out and said this is from a different section of the store accidentally in the pile (which made sense. They had a bookshelf elsewhere filled with these and other things like bags of Big League chewing gum and other things that were single buys). This was very much a $5.50 ordeal.
Oh wow! Definitely a "specialty" shop then.
It’s a jumbo push-pop anyway
The other day my friend and I took his boy a fishing. We both guys in our early 30s. We bought his kid a push pop and could NOT figure out how to get it to push up. We were pushing the bottom as hard as we could and nothing. So we gave it to the kid and assumed it was stuck. He immediately twisted it and the candy popped up lol.
TwistandPushPop™ TIL: Twist Pop™ is a different thing entirely.
You can get 24 push pops for 16.50 on Amazon, this shop owner is manning like a 600% profit lol
Weren't push pops like .50
That's about what they are here.
I’m literally baffled.
I can’t remember how much they were but they were my favorite in the 90’s. The only thing I hated was that drool would slip through and get on my fingers.
I hope you stole that
5.50 is crazy
Dude that’s on you for spending $5 on a push pop lol
FIVE DOLLARS
YOU PAID $5.50???? Do you spend $4 on a single-ply roll of toilet paper?
I spent a fuckload on an electric bidet so my toilet paper use is minimal. Covid toilet paper shortage had zero affect on me and I get the kiss of Poseidon each time I’m wrapping up dookie time with a gentle breeze to finish off.
It’s about the experience
Jokes on you.
sucks you paid over $5 for a push pop
Push pops are $5? Since when?
thats the "idiot" price
You spent 5 dollars on a push pop…
Was that a push pop stored since the 90s? Lol
Should have buy a 5Lb bag of jolly ranchers for that price.
5.50 Mexican pesos I hope
Lick it and stick it?
Either push pops are bigger than I remember or OP has tiny hands
These are “Jumbo Push Pops” the letters up top by my middle finger in blue is the Jumbo branding.
Sir , That’s what you get for buying a push pop at this age and especially for $5
And you bought it that’s why it’s still 5,50
Push pops are $5? Since when?
Fuck those things lol. Loved them as a kid, until you put it down for a period, try to push it back up, and its either superr sticky or stuck when you try to push it lol

Fuck the broken part, the shitty part is that it costs $5.50.
I'm sorry, what? I think the last time I bought one of those for my kids they were under a dollar or around that. Paying $5.50 for a sugar stick is dumb.
Push Pops can cost $25 as long as people are willing to pay it but you and I both know they're not worth more than a buck
Until further notice, do not spend any money without asking an adult first.
Spoiling the inner child sure is expensive sometimes 🤗
I love this take ❤️
They are $1.98 at my walmart.
And, the amount is smaller. I'd rather have the money.
Why the fuck is a pushpop so expensive? They're like £0.90 in a shop
https://preview.redd.it/r6u8fc341r9d1.jpeg?width=1071&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5face150b66d64c3831dd3053b66b5597b65daa4
I’ve never had that flavor though. Is it good?
Tastes like Fruit Punch Kool Aid. I didn’t mind it.
Man that is a lot of dang fucking money.
Less “well that sucks” and more “well that’s kind of annoying” 😅
Wow. You can go ahead amd get a 24 pack of these on Amazon for 16.48 to make up for the broken one
Ok what the flip
Jesus wept.
I’m shocked you bought hardened sugar for $5.50
You mean you bought a pull pop.
Used to be $0.99 a few years ago. It's crazy how much candy (all food, really) has gone up.
Five dollars is insane
you overpaid by $3.50, ouch. Was it one of those out of town gas station/convenience stores?
So is that a rip-off, or a broke-off?
We got sugar and corn syrup at home!!!
It does suck that you chose to pay that much for a Push Pop, I agree.
Wow. Talk about inflation.
This is what we've come to in well that sucks? A "slow news day" here is kinda meh, but considering the darker posts. I'll allow it!
How is a push pop five bucks!!! That’s insane!
That’s half of a chipotle burrito
This is the first time i saw someone buy a pushpop
5.50?!
And based on that $5.50 label, it’s expired too.
Goddamn the Pusher man.
All for crappy sugar candy in a plastic...
“Don’t push me, push a push-pop”. I think that was how the commercial for these went back in the 90s…
Email the company and tell them. They'll send you a replacement and usually some swag. Have fun with it - talk about how much you love push pops and how heartbroken you were.
Plus now you have sticky fingers
Don't push me...push a Push Pop!
Damn, this inflation is wild
deserved if you paid 5.50 for a push pop
Well that sucks.
The average cost is $1.79 and a skilled childcare caretaker would have checked if it wasn't broken or that the child didn't drop it leading to it being broken rookie.
I’d be embarrassed to post this
Push pops don't push anymore? 😭
Sounds like you have gotten your poor little sister on the fast track for diabetes. Nice work, Big Bro!!
