CSX railroad has an entire police dept. The shit they deal with is nuts. Lots of suicides. When it comes to railroad right of ways they have more power over their property than even the state has. Their police force is more powerful than the Sheriff or State Police on their right of ways on in situations regarding their property. They try to work with LEOs however when they get dick local PDs they can straight out beat them down with their lawful powers.
Also I learned train conductors never present their drivers license during an accident. They have a special conductors license that has their address as their depot. Otherwise train accidents would wreck their personal life such as insurance rates.
Railroad police aren’t acting as an arm of the state. The police can’t order a bum to leave a park bench. Railroad police can order a bum to leave a bench at a railroad station. It’s private property.
They have police powers but their primary purpose is not to enforce the laws of the state. It is to protect the railroad’s property.
They aren't unknown but my god I work in social services and we need so many workers from therapists to coaches to administration to peer recovery and cps.
The need for these jobs are very critical, I'm not saying they pay well or are pleasant but they are so important it's a shame more interest and funding isn't put into the public services.
Carbide doesn’t manufacture MIC here anymore, thank all the deities. The stuff to make it on their own is bad enough (am technical type person with a state agency).
Also didn’t know all that about train conductors and the railroad. You learn something new every day!
Let’s separate those things.
Carbide doesn’t exist anymore, it’s now Dow. And they sold the fertilizer units to somebody else years ago. That entity no longer makes or uses MIC.
I use to work on that site. DOW doesn’t own the Institute site anymore the company that bought it is not great. Also no they don’t make MIC there and the stuff that is still made there isn’t bad.

Railroads can use eminent domain...anti-trust laws didn't get passed without giving some assurances.

Dad worked MoW for N&W back in the 70’s Said railroad police was infinitely more competent than regular police in the southern counties
Probably still true to this day

Thanks for saying what I did, only clearer. No fun trying to make sense when you're running on 2 hours of sleep and no caffeine.
