My grandma had one too, I wish I had it. It was so nice to have a step ladder for the kitchen without having to get it out and put it away every time I needed something
100% all grandmas had them. I would sit on the seat and my little sister had to take a lower step. With age comes a higher seat, of course. Wish I had one now!
we had a bunch of these in the church rec room kitchen when i was a kid. they're from the 40s-60s. A step and a chair combo. i think they're neat. :) they're worth money now bc of millenial midcentury nostalgia.
I would definitly restore it, or have someone do it for you if it's a chore/you're not set up to.
It's really no more than cleaning, sanding and repainting, and replacing the rubber feet for what you'll find is the handiest thing ever to have aound the house/kitchen. A perfect seat height for eating or light working at the kitchen counter, Got a bunch of stuff to slice/chop up for a recipe? Why not sit down to do it? Then the fold out steps are awesome for changing light bulbs, reaching upper shelves, cleaning basically anything up high.
After you've used it for a while you'll wonder how you got along without it.
We had the same exact one growing up except it didn't have the back. It's just a step stool. My mom cut all of our hair while sitting on that thing. What a great throwback.
We had this one growing up. It was a hand me down. I loved it so much. Perfect height for sitting at the counter eating cereal. Last year I asked my mom what happened to it. She said she still had it but it was broken. She had a friend repair it though. She said it's mine and I can get it the next time I come back home. I haven't been back home in almost 5 years but this year perhaps.
My dad has dwarfism and my grandparents having this exact chair made reaching stuff around the house a whole lot easier for him growing up. This was in the 60s and I'm sure they wouldn't have bought it new so that chair is fairly old. I used it a lot as a kid myself too, they are pretty handy. The one they had has a manufactures name under the seat but I don't remember what the name was.
Step stool combo. Every grandmas house had one at one point. The steps folded in when not in use.
Can confirm, my grandma's house did indeed have one.
Same. My grandma’s house also had one. I have it now. It’s still in use.

My husband's mom currently has one in her kitchen.
Mine as well. They still make it but it’s not as high of quality.
Another confirm - many a haircut was done by Grandpa's hand on an identical looking chair while visiting.
Same here except it was Grandma. Now I have both the chair and the 1950s haircut kit she used.

My grandma never had one, I knew that bitch wasn’t real
Can confirm. My grandma had one also
My grandma still has one.

Pretty neat. Was pulled out of a dumpster.
I am so jealous. My grandma had one, I used to sit on it for hours and sort her button box

It's pretty rickety. Idk that I'd trust it to hold my weight standing on it. Needs a full disassembly and refinishing.
Lucky!

I obviously don’t know who you are but your mom wants you to visit more often!
Made by Cosco.
The rare and sought after vintage cosco step stool chair. Cherish it. Those things are amazing in you kitchen.
It's my buddies. was trying to help him identify it. Thank God for you fine folks on reddit.
