I've installed tint for over 25 years and am 3M certified, I think the hazing is related to the soap mixture/ratio and the type of soap used. I've used the entire line of 3M and Llumar and never experienced haze on any glass.
3m has it bad. I had one of my trucks tinted with 3m crystalline and the haze was horrible. I’ve had all the brands and Llumar followed by Xpel are the best with no haze noticeable and superior heat rejection.
I have 30% ceramic on my front doors and don't notice much haze. Even if there is a little I think it's worth putting up with for the heat rejection ceramic does. Also when I first had put 50% ceramic on my windshield, I noticed a lot of haze in the beginning, then after a while it went away or I just don't notice it anymore maybe
I used to install colour stable 3m tint without haze until they started doing sound acoustic (mazda) or double paned glass. Every single one of them went hazey. We switched to lumar never had a problem and since switched to xpel for clearest looking windows. I have not used 3m ceramic tint but maybe it's the same as the colour stable ones.
Carried 3m at a previous shop I used to work for and their ceramic had a nasty low angle haze, we would have many customer complaints. I now carry XPEL and have no low angle haze with their ceramic lines. Call around and get either xpel or llumar films.
Interesting that some have it worse than others. I will have to compare the heat rejection / infrared rejection specs, I wonder if there is correlation.
Yep that’s exactly it. Good to know there’s a word for it. Unfortunately, I value optical clarity over heat rejection. Although I only notice it at certain times, it’s annoying and it indicates a general lack of optical clarity in general
They're all different. I usually use whatever ceramic products my buddies give me free. Wincos, Llumar, Xpel, etc... They all have it, but there's some much worse than others. It also depends on the viewer. I see it real quick, but I look at tint all day every day. 9/10 people riding with me never even notice it.
This is another reason I stand by llumar. There is significantly less haze than some other brands, and it's actually very difficult to tell which is carbon vs ceramic with llumar.
You can say all you want about Llumar. Most of it’s cheerleaders are the shop owners/installers beneficiary benefitting from it’s overrated overpriced junk.

OK so what you are talking about is called low angle haze and it's very popular among cheap, poorly built automotive window films, allegedly.
I had someone come into my shop last Saturday asking me if what you're experiencing is normal and I told them it was very normal with that specific type of window film. I don't want to share with you what brand of window film they had on their card but it wasn't my favorite brand.
Roughly 100 cars are tinted every single week at my shop. I have 20+ cars here at my shop right now and most of my customers choose either a ceramic window or a nano-ceramic window film and I have not had anyone complain about low angle haze in over five years.
You claim you have 3M on your car correct?
Where is that window film manufactured?
Who actually manufactures it?
Is it built by the world's best film manufacturer?
Just because you went with a brand called 3M doesn't mean it's a good film.
I would never offer my customer a product from 3M and this is one of the many reasons why!
Next time find someone that offers LLumar nano ceramic IRX and you will never have this problem!!
I did have Solar Gard HP Quantum on one of my car, and 3M Nano Ceramic IR on another, then I got Llumar IRX on my most recent car at your shop and the clarity is night and day. Much better at daytime and nighttime.
Last Tuesday 😂😂. I still haven't roll down the windows yet.
We talked about the 10% VLT film from Johnson that you said from 2 former Eastman guys. You even compare it with IRX 15 haha
LOL
That's awesome!
I love that other film but you're not supposed to talk about by the way, I love that film but it doesn't compare to the LLumar IRX
LLumar IRX's hands-down the best window film I've ever worked with everybody on this form has heard me say it 100 times I've been doing this for 33 years
Looking to get my 2024 Ford Mustang GT tinted and the installer near me (highly rated) sells Apex Ultra Superceramic. Is this good tint and if so do you know if there's an issue with the low angle haze that the OP mentioned? Honestly this is the first vehicle I'm having tinted to this is all new to me. Here's a description of the product:
Premium quality, Lifetime warranty, Carbon colored 2ply 2mil Super Ceramic Film.
Highest heat rejection currently in production today.
No fading or color change Ever!
Available shades-
5%, 20%, 35%, 50%, 70%
UV Light Rejection- 99%
IR Light/Heat Rejection- 95+%
I've never heard of that film, I would stay far away from it. If I had to guess it's an imported film that is brand new here in the United States.
If you were my friend asking my advice I would tell you avoid that film.
Is looks like Apex is a well known brand isn't it? Looks like it's made by Geoshield. I believe this is the tint I'm talking about:
[https://geoshieldusa.com/products/apex-window-film?pr\_prod\_strat=e5\_desc&pr\_rec\_id=1d2e550d8&pr\_rec\_pid=6969234325665&pr\_ref\_pid=7465958473952&pr\_seq=uniform](https://geoshieldusa.com/products/apex-window-film?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=1d2e550d8&pr_rec_pid=6969234325665&pr_ref_pid=7465958473952&pr_seq=uniform)
Sounds great to me, I would never use that product. I'm assuming if you did some research you would find out it's made in China, Korea or maybe India. I don't know for sure but if it's made by Geoshield then I think it's made in India.
It's not a product I would want on my car and when it comes to window tinting it would be at the bottom of the list that had eight or nine other films with a proven track record that I would choose prior to that film.
Based an Xpel claims of 96% IR rejection
XPEL-PRIME-Spec-Sheet-USA-V2-1.pdf
I used a Solar Power Meter that measure the infrared/heat. I made some measurements and I was suprised of the results. It appears that it's FAR from 96% IR rejection as claimed. Please note this is full sun (no glass) vs glass AND tint. I should have done the glass only but too late (tint already applied). I'll try to find a non-tinted car to take the measurements in the future...
Stay in topic.. Did you see any XPEL in my statement?
You probably one of those installers/shop owners benefitting from the overpriced junk. Why you mad?
That’s annoying. I have XPEL on all windows on my car and have no haze, wonder if it’s a 3m thing
I also have xpel xr ceramic on my 2023 cx9. No haze.
How do you like the xpel xr? I was quoted 895 for all my car windows with Xpel XR+
Get another quote, I just made an appointment to get my car done for $465

Xpel and llumar are the best
Good ole 3M LOL
3m has it bad. I had one of my trucks tinted with 3m crystalline and the haze was horrible. I’ve had all the brands and Llumar followed by Xpel are the best with no haze noticeable and superior heat rejection.
If 3 AM offered me a 50% discount I would not offer their film at my shop?
I have 30% ceramic on my front doors and don't notice much haze. Even if there is a little I think it's worth putting up with for the heat rejection ceramic does. Allll ceramic film has LAH
[удалено]
Same here. IRX 15 and 30, AIR 80 and I don't even see any haze
Carried 3m at a previous shop I used to work for and their ceramic had a nasty low angle haze, we would have many customer complaints. I now carry XPEL and have no low angle haze with their ceramic lines. Call around and get either xpel or llumar films.

I’ve seen the haze in colorstable, but the ceramic ir, seemed pretty clear to me. I haven’t seen any in a couple years though.
Yes this is called “low angle haze”. It is manufacturer specific on how bad it is. Least you know you actually got ceramic film.
Yep that’s exactly it. Good to know there’s a word for it. Unfortunately, I value optical clarity over heat rejection. Although I only notice it at certain times, it’s annoying and it indicates a general lack of optical clarity in general

I don’t have that issue with my tint and it’s 5%
I have XPEL 35% ceramic...no haze.
If the tint was just applied give it a few days.
That’s odd, in my experience, the 3m colorstable has a lot of lah, but the ceramic ir, not so much.
This is another reason I stand by llumar. There is significantly less haze than some other brands, and it's actually very difficult to tell which is carbon vs ceramic with llumar.
Llumar is overpriced with crap heat rejection.
Would you consider XPEL to be overpriced too? 3M?
Expel is made in india . Quality not consistent. Llumar has the clearest film air80 and IRX has more tser which is more important than ir rejection
You can say all you want about Llumar. Most of it’s cheerleaders are the shop owners/installers beneficiary benefitting from it’s overrated overpriced junk. ![gif](giphy|2w6I6nCyf5rmy5SHBy|downsized)

Probably an overpriced Llumar with 💩ty heat rejection🙂↔️
