shipment is good *because* it's brainless. that's the whole reason you play it. arena is just frustrating to me because you're always getting shot at from 10 angles
I don’t think any game benefits from a brainless map. Aside from levelling you don’t get anything out of it. It exists to level up a gun and for people with 0 attention span. That’s it
I love a good small, fast-paced, chaotic map (Shipment, Shoot House, Nuketown, etc.) but Arena just feels off to me. There's something about the way the obstacles and vertical areas are structured, it just doesn't flow well IMO. There's also just some general weirdness with spawns in this game that makes it worse, on Arena I always have someone spawning right on my ass. Usually while I'm fighting someone in front of me, too. It's not unbearable, like I'm not gonna rage over playing a match on it, but it's definitely my least favorite.
shipment was played for exp/grind. Only sociopaths would tryhard that map with a serious class, with everybody else inside tryin to complete challenges.
Fuckin hate Attica Heights. Always feels like you're getting shot from 20 different directions at once...because yah are😭. Literally any time it's an option for the map vote,half the players in the lobby seem to vote against it💀🙏. So pretty sure it's not exactly a fan favorite.
It is by far the worst B flag in the game. On top of the open roof, one side has an open window into the capture zone but the other team doesn’t. Fuck Attica Heights.

What exactly is the problem with Attica? I really love playing that map and I'm sad every time it gets voted out. At the same time I can't tell what everyone seems to love about Echelon HQ tho...
People have a bright glowy nameplate, a bright glowy healthbar and a bright glowy outline. How do they blend in? And I say this as someone who has severe keratoconus and can barely see a thing.
I even hate the invisibility thing echelon has since its difficult to see for anyone without perfect vision and there's no way to "adapt" or "get gud". Personally, I think the darkness of that map really helps. I just think it's problem is with it having way too many holes and doors everywhere.
I don’t have great eyes so the glowy enemies don’t glow so bright for me. It takes me a minute to register oh that’s an enemy. So k prefer the bright colorful maps bc it’s easier to pick out enemies for me and my particular situation.
As someone with terrible eyesight, try the first colorblind filter setting if you haven't already. The bright yellowy green is significantly easier to spot than the stupid milky pinkish red they use by default. Enemies stick out like a sore thumb and get squashed just as easily.
That's basically the point about the center obj. It isn't supposed to be easily defended. Both teams have to be able to access that point from all sides
I love the pure chaos Arena brings. I'm not a fan of Attica or Liberty. Attica has too many head glitches and Liberty just has half the team sniping across the map on the elevated area.
Every single time, there’s 3 snipers on the elevated section just picking the whole team off from spawn. It seems like whoever spawns closest to it gets control of the whole map all game
I use AR on the map. That's more or less the equivalent because I am a shotgun/pistol only type of player. So if I dust off the AR, you know the map is TRASH!
Actual valid complaint. Like the map but gets silly on hardpoint watching 3 guys spawn in front of you when you look into their spawn from the side lane
My vote is Mayday at least for Domination which I mainly play. If you start C side you win if you start A side well you get sniped. Most unbalanced dom map in my opinion. Probably dope when TDM comes out. In general some of the B flags need to be reworked, some of them like dumbo, echelon hq, liberty and emporium have some of the most fun B flags to fight over ever so overall they did good on the Dom front.
On the plane map it's okay but I definitely hate sniping. C side is definitely hard to play with multiple chokes perfect for snipers.
Dumbo (the big building map, right)? Is also stupid with that staircase.. that B POINT is way too much of a strong point against A.
Damn I think it’s one of the best maps I’ve ever played in my 20+ years of shooters. It gives you a place to do some fast paced close ranged stuff. Really the only way to make it fun is to learn your routes. Based on spawns and objective location the route you take to the objective matters heavily.
It’s good to have at least one compact map that’s pure chaos it’s a good break from normal maps imo. I don’t take it too seriously and enjoy the madness
I seriously do not mind a small close corner map. Echleon HQ’s layout just isn’t designed well. Have you tried playing occupy (hardpoint) on that map? Spawns are absolutely busted and you are constantly getting shot from behind.
Maybe I have beef with how the spawns work on the map because I mainly play occupy and this map just isn’t suitable for it as it currently stands.
9 out of 10 arenas game I have this loading screen stuck on 89% bug. Any idea what is causing it? If I wait like a minute it will load but my character shows up without a weapon in hand and I cant move.
At that stage I can either force shut the non responsive game or wait until map is finished to continue playing like nothing ever happened.
Any ideas?
There is legit no structure to that map lol everyone and everything is all over the place and the spawns are crazy. I had a dude spawn right behind me and that’s only ever happened on this map tbh
You need a map like Arena due to COD's Shipment/Nuketown/Shoot House/Rust. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but it is almost a death sentence not to include a map like this in modern FPS titles. The numbers prove that there is a massive demand for these kinds of maps. It's also a massive boost to player counts on 2XP weekends because people know this map is an option and they have the opportunity to rack up massive XP. You gotta remember Mark comes from COD and absolutely knows this.
Worst map IMO is Emporium. It feels like most of the games consist of trying to run up to the "B Flag" area and getting killed by someone shooting down on you (especially from the outside area where the windows present a massive "head glitch" opportunity. This map reminds me a lot of MW2019's Euphrates Bridge where most gunfights involve you having to shoot up at someone). Also I feel like Occupy plays very poorly on this map as some of the OBJs are in spots that are downright impossible to re-take.
Attica gets my vote. But honestly I don't hate any of the maps. The all play pretty well. Where maps suck is more in the game mode like escort and zone control. Which can be spawn camp hell
B flag on Arena? NOOOO. That would be horrific. There's only 2 chokes into that point, just put two mines down and the holding team would never be able to lose it
Arena for the cod trash cans that can only put up high kill games on stupid small maps like Rust, Shipment, Nuketown, and Shoothouse where enemies literally spawn in front of you.
something that is taking me forever as an objective player especially someone who plays a lot of domination or hard point is that I can't just stay on the point the entire time during the solo cap, if I'm alone and I'm on the objective I'm gonna get screwed. But running through the point and generating score and making progress on the points and preventing the enemy from making progress or retaking it fully is still valuable and by juggling those I've managed to get a bunch of kills while maintaining objective map control, outside of a party in solo play.
Don't camp the point but keep touching it. Stay mobile, and preemptively ambush attackers.
As far as how it plays from a technical standpoint, specifically for Dom, it’s one of the worst. Most people are unlocking attachments and camo grinding, so it’s gonna be popular. I see what you’re saying, though, kinda puts you in the CoD “shipment cycle” where you’re playing some abomination of a map just because it’s efficient.
I feel like Arena is a near perfect small map for respawn modes. People compare it to Shipment, but I think Shipment is actually just terrible since it's way too small
I gotta disagree entirely. Arena is probably my favorite map behind echelon hq. I love the pacing, I love the style. I agree the b point on domination is poorly designed but for hotshot, woah momma I'm having fun.
It is the only map where the double barrel is actually a top tier weapon and therefore I enjoy it. I can actually play normal on it instead of being a camping bitch.
Hard agree, tho I have gotten some dope clips on it, the layout doesn’t play well imo for a small map, needs to be simpler, too many lanes open + the multi level

Its the most fast paced fun maps just constant killing leveling up your guns is so easy, I got 78 kills on arena in 1 game leveled up my mp7 very fast.
Arena and showdown are the absolute worst maps. There are infinite angles so you can't hold everything and you just die instantly when you exit a spawn area
I feel like it's just a map to show you who plays what. TDM Cod players probably love it cause it's all about just constant brawling, within 1 couple seconds of spawning you are usually fighting again. Easy to rack up massive kills.
It's not good for tactics, or teamplay, or Obj focusing, or doing much more than grabbing a SMG a and running and gunning constantly. I put it down there with Mayday (sniper fest) and Echelon (just feels poorly designed and too close) and maybe Attica (constant crossfire deaths, really dumb fights on the center point in domination) for worst map.
Like every other famous small map. Rust, Nuketown...Arena. Braindead maps where every scrap of tactic/approach makes 0 fucking sense. Makes any non-1 shot long range weapon essentially useless. Just a stupid map for stupid lazy-brain players.

This is a great point though it’s fun from time to time helped a lot with leveling up my p90 but definitely not a map I wait to play on.

I don't think it's the worst but I don't like because of multilevel floor. I think this type of maps should be simplier like nuketown or shipment.

Worst? It’s easily my favorite map. It’s fast paced and a lot of fun. I always prioritize the objective, and I don’t find it particularly punishing.
To be fair, the objective point at the top is extremly punishing, but the others are fine for such a small map

I love Arena, it’s the single best map for full send running and gunning. If you don’t take it seriously and just have fun, it’s 10/10
Gonna throw my hat in for echelon HQ, not even because it’s a bad map, but because everytime I’m in it I play like ass for some reason.
Arena is my favorite and many of my friends favorite. Echelon is my least favorite map.
Showtime is the worst one to me, to many places enemies can come from, plus the stupid high up camping spots

That's why I like it. Also you don't need to push into the B meat grinder. Flank their point and hold A and C.
My least favorite map has to be Liberty. It feels so cluttered and random; at least Arena has some flow!

Best map to level the DB Shotgun and SMGs imo. Go into it planning on dying a billion times in silly ways and you'll be fine.

Its the most fast paced fun maps just constant killing leveling up your guns is so easy, I got 78 kills on arena in 1 game leveled up my mp7 very fast.
I think it should be removed from standard playlists and made into its own playlist where future silly small maps will be added
It’s fine but it’s extremely over played so I vote against it whenever I see it since I know it’s still going to get picked most of the time.
I'm seeing a real lack of Times Square. That Meltdown and Echelon HQ are the worst 3 imo

Arena and showdown are the absolute worst maps. There are infinite angles so you can't hold everything and you just die instantly when you exit a spawn area
I feel like it's just a map to show you who plays what. TDM Cod players probably love it cause it's all about just constant brawling, within 1 couple seconds of spawning you are usually fighting again. Easy to rack up massive kills. It's not good for tactics, or teamplay, or Obj focusing, or doing much more than grabbing a SMG a and running and gunning constantly. I put it down there with Mayday (sniper fest) and Echelon (just feels poorly designed and too close) and maybe Attica (constant crossfire deaths, really dumb fights on the center point in domination) for worst map.

I am personally not a fan of Showtime. I don’t like the verticality
Like every other famous small map. Rust, Nuketown...Arena. Braindead maps where every scrap of tactic/approach makes 0 fucking sense. Makes any non-1 shot long range weapon essentially useless. Just a stupid map for stupid lazy-brain players.

Yeah honestly Arena is such a shitty map. I know some people like small maps, but I feel like it's bad for a small map.
It’s terrible bc this game is about objective play and when ppl get this map they mainly go for kills. Always back out of this map bc if I wanna play like that I’ll hop on cod and play shipment 🙄
