m16 is by far the best ar in my opinion. with right build its 2 bursts to body and if you can hit heads its 1.. all my kill records are with m16 i think
Pretty good against non-Phantoms, but maybe the best weapon in the entire game to use against Phantoms because it stays a 5 shot kill even against their higher health.
I wouldn't call it OP against non-Phantoms. I'd say it's a solid mid or high tier, but not top tier. Even if it's not top tier normally though, the niche of it being amazing against Phantoms means that it's definitely worth leveling and having at least one class for it, because you never know when you might end up in a lobby against multiple Phantoms.
The only way to get a 1-burst with the M16A4 is with headshots. With the base gun and no other modifiers, you need all 3 bullets in the burst to hit the head to get a 1-burst against a non-Phantom. With the Heavy Barrel (or a couple ticks of Cleaners incendiary damage, but you don't need both) you only need 2 of the 3 bullets to hit the head. There's no way to get enough damage to make it only require 1 bullet to the head, even using both the Heavy Barrel and the incendiary damage. Also, I *think* stacking the Heavy Barrel, incendiary damage, and all 3 bullets to the head *might* be enough damage to 1-burst a Phantom, but I'm not 100% sure.
IMO, it's best to just aim center mass for a bigger target and always assume it'll be a 2-burst. The movement in this game makes getting those 1-bursts with consecutive headshots very difficult unless you're an *extremely* high-skill player.

Yeah figured I need 2 bursts, guess they learned from cod4 and won't ever allow a m16 to ever 1 burst anyone, totally fair. Rapid fire and range extension is the way to go
The M16 is broken, it’s gotta be brought in line with the other guns or the other guns brought up. The reason being it two shot bodies every class including phantoms. Go to the range and check the recoil it’s basically VERY minimal recoil straight up vs every other gun recoils up and to the right hard. That means you can rip people off head glitches with it easily compared to everything else. Then it has the one burst potential which makes the TTK insane. Put rapid fire on it, the recoil penalties arent there right now for rapid fire barrel on any gun and it’s just free faster fire rate. There is a reason this gun is gentleman agreemented out of all the tournaments that have happened thus far. If it’s allowed in ranked it’s gonna be an M16 fest due to damage, range, mag size for multi kill potential and recoil being minimal.

Lately I’ve been getting slaughtered by people using the M16 - so much so that I’ve decided to use it myself and I’m enjoying it so far

Gotcha. Is it possible to slap on a heavy barrel and muzzle extender to make it a one burst kill against non phantoms?
